Bear that in mind the next time you think of submitting books to them, and cross your fingers that you wont be giving up your hard earned money to have your book visually destroyed by a ridiculous manufacturing design flaw that any reasonable grading company would simply not tolerate.
  2. Great stuff there @masterlogan2000 - you've done very well as eBay can be really temperamental. I used to search not only the 'basics' (e.g. Hulk 8) but every permutation going (Hulk lot, Hulk newsstand, Hulk 2.49, Hulk 1999, Hulk 2000 etc etc). I had a lot of luck searching sold copies, but found that sometimes eBay doesn't always give you the full results. It may be because I'm in the UK searching eBay.com and maybe you guys get different results to me. What used to annoy me is I would search for, say "Hulk newsstand" in comics and get less results than if I searched for 'all categories'. The amount of people who list in the wrong category is staggering. Still, excellent work and analysis there Here's the updated list of what is confirmed to exist - 27 books in total. We still have: Only one Feb 2000 book No variants where the issue is double sized No title with more than 3 of the same priced variant More 2.49's (16) than 2.29's (11) Only six titles with a variant from the scores of available potential titles No title has variant issues covering all 5 months (FF has the only Feb 2000 but no Oct 1999) Additionally, if we assume that no title extends over 5 months by design, and that there are definitely no double sized variants: We have a 'full set' of ASM and X-Men Keep looking
  3. Gotcha. Not a new book for the record then, but interesting nonetheless. New one! Ta. Neat little run now for that title: Of course I have! It's another of those deliberate errors to keep you on your toes
  4. Oh, right, I see the correction to your post. Shame - back to only one Feb book! So we're on 27 confirmed books. Considering how long I looked (years, albeit from England) and how long you've been on the case it really shows how rare these are. Maybe X-Men 97 doesn't show because it doesn't exist...?
  5. That's great. Really great. And 76 means a second February book. Excellent stuff. Can you post the 76 too? I'll update the chart at the weekend.
  6. Interesting, thanks. Based on my last chart showing 26 confirmed variants... ...you're saying you've found a further 2 $2.49 priced books: - Cable 74 - Cable 75 Can I see pictures please? And are you sure about Cable #75? As a double sized $2.99 regular priced issue a $2.49 will be very odd
  7. Try telling that to Barry and Dave.
  8. Judging by the response, it's looking like death emb. But look, it's only 128 voters. Quite reasonable to ignore that. Isn't it?
  9. 13 of them are mine. And they're about farting. Or are they....... I'd just like to apologise about everything.
  10. No worries. I suspect that one point will make a lot of people happy. Their old journals can continue, just in a different forum. I'm sure a few will take you up on it. It does mean that we will have an old journals area, a new one and then journals scattered about if people take you up on the offer. Not ideal, but who cares as long as we can read the ones we want to in the format that best suits us. Thanks Scott
  11. Further to the above speculation, when you see the same books crop up, with the same gaps, it cements the theory still further: This seller has (had) 3 pence KCO's, and none happened to be 90, 92, 93 or 94. Again..... It doesn't mean they definitely don't exist, but it does strengthen the theory a little. Time will tell, when it learns how to speak.
  12. I absolutely agree, and have been making the point since they started up. But no one listened. I'm often accused of giving the admin team a hard time. They are not full time on this site and are likely under pressure. Scott and the team have delivered the transition well technically. But there is a disconnect on the CGC boards between what the members want, what they say, and what is then delivered. It can seem at times that our opinions don't matter, hence the need for clear and timely communication. I like Scott. He has a great attitude. I like Dena. Ditto. But I do not like the new journals and am still trying to work out why they had to be delivered at all. The new boards were a necessity - the old software was unsupported. The pain came from a lack of communication and a disconnect between what the members wanted and what they finally got after long months of dragging the optimum model out of the initial mess that was delivered. Subject to further clarification, the new journals were an optional change. There was nothing wrong with the old ones (subject to clarification). If so, the issue is that those in the delivery area do not understand what the users want. The new journals are not user friendly, if only comparative to the old ones. It would be great if we had a board member support the admin team with this kind of thing. Ditch or AJD would be a great choice to discuss the journals with admin before they decide to deliver new - optional - functionality. But we can't expect this from a site that is delivered free, with support staff having 5 minutes a day to support the site. Let's see what Scott says. I'm only writing this because I care by the way, odd as that may seem to some.
  13. If true, I can send a book to CGC and get a 9.0, 9.2 or 9.4 depending on which grader is grading it on which day. If the difference in prices on some books are so huge, how is this right? If high value books go to a committee, fair enough. The group decide on the final grade and even each other out. But what is the definition of high value? Is an ASM 129 high value? If not, and only one grader grades it, the difference between a 9.0 and a 9.4 is still significant. Bad luck, Barry graded it a 9.0. If you'd have sent it in a day later, Dave would've given it a 9.4. Sorry about the few hundred dollars. Who's going to be first to say 'what's the alternative then?'?
  14. Hi Scott, you know my personal feelings on the new journals but I do want to thank you for this update and all the hard work you have put in over recent days. I don't like the result of the activity, but I cannot fault the quality of your execution of it and the concessions you have put forward (although an announcement prior to the event may have lessened the impact / negative member reception). Just one question from me, to make sure I understand what you're saying. You lost me a little with the bit about journals being created in the 'old area' / the Collectors Society. Can, for example, @AJD ask you to move his journal to Comics General, you'll do so and he can then carry away posting as he did prior to it's locking? It's this one: I'm not saying he'd want that - just want to clarify using his journal as an example. Cheers
  15. Bear in mind for early Marvel copies that you'd have to rip the date box off as well if your intention was to pass a pence copy off as a cents. And the Thorpe & Porter indicia details too. Two examples to prove the point here:

What am I missing? Like the new avatar by the way Gnash! Velly nice. I'm not a big fan of changing avatars myself of course, ahem, but this one is cool Oh, and I'm probably going to be offline again for a while so you'll have to hold the fort again. Try not to burn anything this time. When I return, huge updates across the pence board. Can your bear the excitement? Be there or be circular
  17. Cheers Gnash. I'm the high bidder and hoping to win. It's already a known copy. I'm grateful for the heads up but I scour eBay like a sad person with no life so it's unlikely that I'll miss any. But not impossible! Send me a PM in future - don't want anyone bidding against me (not that they would. No other cretin buys the damn things)
