  1. Asleep. The only time they awaken is when I post a word like 'willy', then they spring into immediate action and issue a two week ban with points.
  2. Nearly 10 hours in now, so we can only assume no mods or admin work nights. It's like The Purge. Nightime chaos is the way forward "2 votes so far for 'quickly' and 3 for sorting out Newton Rings. Sorry, New ton ri
  3. Yes. Ultra annoying. But understandable, given that 95% of current traffic is in Mandarin
  4. ...and don't forget to check out my other pence threads if you have other publishers in your collection Gary - you can access them from my signature line at the bottom of each of my posts (if you have them turned on) or from the 'about me' page of my profile:
  5. Cheers Gary! The Conan 11 is a typo - I do have that on the master list, just a slip on the numbered list so it's still 72 issues: Conan The Barbarian 11-35, 41-53, 57-81, 121-129 72 I've shared emails with Duncan McAlpine a few times down the years - he was very complimentary about my research and at one point offered to add it to his site but then we lost touch. I think he's a very talented, busy man and spends less time on comics now than perhaps he did in the past. His site is great, but it has many errors. It also sometimes clouds the distinction between non distributed cents copies and pence priced copies, a common issue with all pence research that I've seen. In my world, there are only pence printed copies and cents copies. Cents copies which did or did not come to the UK, stamped or otherwise, are still cents copies. The non-distributed aspect is interesting historically as to why certain books were hard to find over here but, in my view, all books are now freely available via online mechanisms so it's a bit of a moot point. Keep posting Gary. The fact that your collection numbers mirrors my list is further evidence of its integrity. Hopefully, the best (only?) online list in the world Cheers, Steve
  6. Nonsense? Wha tha fah! You velly unkind sah. Only want ansa to new ton ring phenomena. Bloo'y racists.
  7. Does it spoil your enjoyment of the books?
  8. ...and if you can resubmit and get a ring free reslab, why can't you get one in the first instance?
  9. Niiiiice. I always thought Edison Bell sounded like a bright spark. And is that R ick D ick and Richards Cole or Rick Richards and D ick Cole? Please tell me it's R ick D ick Jim
  10. Oh Maggie I can't help it it's the reason I'm so attracted to you...I just love smelling your fishy hands after a hard day working at the mongers. "But I don't work there any more Dave, I quit weeks ago" "Oh. Right. So why do..... Right"
  11. Nice to have at least part of an original, but I can't bear facsimile covers. I'd leave it coverless
  12. Both your achievements are great - that's a lot of books! I tried for an ASM run of 100-200 in CGC 9.4 and made the mistake of leaving 121 and 129 to the end. My thinking was, I could get 20 books for the price of either, so went for volume first. Then both books went barmy and I ended up not getting 121. Then I sold the lot. Point being, always buy the expensive key first. Then pick the others off later. But once the key goes so far, many of us will be unable to get it. As a completist, I had every Spidey. Every one. But I couldn't cope now with all these artificially priced variants going for thousands. Sooner or later, money becomes a barrier to most but the very wealthy. I couldn't start again now unless I won the lottery. It may be a reason that the hobby is waning. Who could afford the ASM 1-700 run now? Be happy you've got #2 upwards. Some great books there, and they will one day be on the out of reach list too.
  13. It's a drag when an issue you need to complete a run moves out of sight. If you can't afford a number one - few can - the GRR is easily the nearest best thing, being of an age (1966) and visually identical cover wise bar the missing price. That would be my advice. Modern reprints like the Milestone editions are nothing like what's needed. Good luck.
