  1. I've run out of likes Ken! I've given Homer a rest for a while. Or have I......?
  2. Good to bad to good we can find, yes..... But there must be a straight forward bad to good out there somewhere @Paul_Maul!
  3. The more I think about it, shouldn't the person who decided on this logo change have been sacked? Why are they always worse than the original? Someone find me a title logo that gets better!
  4. I agree again! Change always seems to go down badly though doesn't it. Who can find a logo that went from bad to good?
  5. I agree - just like the Hulk in my post above. A great logo replaced by a bland one
  6. Not sure if anyone has done this before? I was looking at some comics this morning and got to thinking how important the title logo can be to the overall look of a book. Here are some of my favourites from down the years. I have to confess that I am a fan of the 'huge single coloured logo that takes up the whole width of the top of a cover' - like these two: There's something very basic but striking about them. And I like a logo that incorporates something about the character, e.g. Conans sword..... .....or one which has a font type that captures the essence of the character like the spooky Werewolf! (and don't forget the all important 'By Night'. Used Car Salesman by Day anyone?): And I do have a fondness for the 'ridiculous amount of words that take up half the flaming cover' logos, like this one which seems to go on for ever: How cool is that? Alas, some logos are just plain dull and do the title character a mighty disservice with their blandness. Case in point: Bring back the bricks! Got any faves or pet hates of your own? Let's see them if so
  7. I used to have both - here are the scans I kept. 36 was very difficult to find as I recall
  8. Cor! Dictionary cor kɔː/ exclamation BRITISHinformal expressing surprise, excitement, admiration, or alarm. "Cor! That's a beautiful Wolverine picture you've drawn there!"
  9. Hello. Here are two copies of Battle #70 from June 1960, the last issue of the title. One 'bold' font, and one 'tall' font: It's not a particularly common book in Englandville, and I live in hope that a Pence Copy may exist (much like Wyatt Earp #29 which was also the last issue in the title before a long lay off, and just snuck into the pence date range). I've only seen one indicia so far - here it is, the 'tall' font copy: I'd be interested to see if the bold font copy has the same indicia or whether it has a Thorpe & Porter line as many of these font variations do. Anyone got a copy? Great cover by the way isn't it. Here they are in full (both lifted from the web): Bold Font Copy Tall Font Copy Will we ever learn the truth.....?
  10. Don't forget Despicable Me 3. And Wolf Warrior 2 hasn't finished yet.
  11. Indeed. We can only guess how much more it would have made if it was any good though
  12. That's a very nice book, well done. The cover presents very well but I'd go for a 4.5 due to the staining which looks like it goes through the whole book at the bottom.
  13. Please have a crack at this one if you dare. I'm posting it not only to get your thoughts on grade (a bit of chipping there pardner), but also because it shows the Kid fighting a bear and some dodgy circus acts.
  14. Many of the 20p issues came with an ugly great advert for the NBC show, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Given that the comic was destined for the UK by design (20p), and that Marvel would often adapt the headers to reflect the regional market (e.g. 'Marvel All-Colour Comics'), it's odd that they didn't replace this. I'm not sure NBC would have been available in Deptford in 1981 unless you had a really big satellite dish.....
  15. Weird Wonder Tales number 8 for 8p. Bargain! Number 9 destroys the symmetry...
  16. I found these three kids wandering around at the London fair today. Seemed only right to adopt them.
