Nice, Jack Davis (I assume)and Barks I wouldn’t have on their but I like it. My list would be if called to make it now:

    1. Kirby

    2. Adams

    3. Miller

    4. Wood

    5. Sal B

(also might switch out anyone but Adams or Kirby for Kubert, Schomburg, Byrne, or Wrightson)

Sal is easily in my top 10, but like you I can swap him out for others. He gets there on longevity and adaption over 6 decades to always stay relevant and liked by generations of readers.

I admire your case for Sal B who I am a fan of no doubt. I’m willing to keep him in a top ten list with consideration for top 5 entry for the next twenty years.

I’m thinking like the baseball writers that take up the ballots for Who gets into the hall of fame? each year.

lets meet this time each year and see if we can get a consensus to move sal into the top 5. You have Sal there. I’m not there yet.

Cheers Let’s Go Mets and Lets get Sal into a consensus top 5 here on CGC!

Yeah, I think if I can get the actual correspondence from David Finch to show to ebay, they may help me out.  Thanks Cimmerians!

Let's just put it this way -- multiple accounts on eBay are hard to track but not that hard to track.

Everyone should report it.  Ebay doesn't really care about this stuff for some reason..

I think I need to say this again, maybe?

I used to explain why something that was forged was easy to spot. After that, I noticed that a new round of forgeries had taken my comments into account. I suspect at least some forgers lurk on this forum, or others that discuss comic art. So we should be careful about explaining why something looks wrong.

Time to get medieval on art fraud

Just reiterating, some of those items in the pic are reflections, shadows and artifacts not actually on the artwork...especially the giant line that looks like a crease (which is a creation of the top lighting in the case itself, the glass shelf above this piece and the lighting in the convention hall.

I love it just the way it is. I'm sure the owner is very happy too.

There seem to be some differences in condition of the Kirby Thing pin-up from the pic someone posted of it at SDCC and the pic in the auction--eg creases not shown in the auction

That was me...I took the pic at an angle and you can see HA prettied it up in the catalog vs the true condition. I still love it as one of a kind is my number one motivator.IMG_1379.jpg.a60c4708a37d7495d20ad1bc655dbb5b.jpg

My most cherished piece is 1985 Black Spiderman by Charles Vess. The McFarlane looking piece was done by Jamie Biggs and it’s pound for pound one of the best drawings I  got for the money . It’s 15 x 20” piece loaded with detail.I’m also very lucky to have Gab Dell’Otto black Spidey and a stunner by Jae Lee

You got it buddy! When opportunity presented itself you kicked down the door. Charles Vess black and white Spider-Man with grace. You can pose this one four different ways and it gives you goosebumps.

  7. grapeape jumping in. I saw the “Finch” piece and contacted David Finch directly with photos of the art and signature. David let me know that it was not his work.

I informed the seller and a potential buyer that the piece was not legit. The fella here stuck with the piece is doing the right thing to warn everyone about the eBay guy. I’m always amazed when folks amass a good feedback and drop fakes on the market.

the only way around it is to have a friend in the countries they ship too.

The reason is some people don't want to ship outside their own country.  Their reason could include not dealing with customs forms..  Many US listings only ship to US too.

    Malvin

Yeah I stopped shipping outside the U S.

in the old days I’d ship and declare a low value to save the buyer customs $$$ if they came with solid credentials.

Today big time —-art is targeted by thieves and it’s just too risky imo.
