  1. My apologies my friend. In my defense. I spent Friday and Saturday helping the mother in law clear shrubs from the garden. So you bet I swilled some gin before today’s show,.,,,oh,.,,. Yer talking about......
  2. I had to leave half way through the streaming show. I can tell you I saw some pretty good sales going down. I got there 10:45am and there were at least 60-70 people in there. I couldn’t get to the art for awhile. Tables were packed. There is a benefit to going to the show: • see the art in person • meet other collectors (I won’t name you guys but that was awesome. 😂 To have people walk up and say, “so you’re Grapeape?” was hilarious and really appreciated. You all know who you are thanks for getting together with me and looking at art. • under the right circumstances you can work out better deals in person. I’ve done it and I’ve seen it happen. • collectors showed me their stuff. Some of the collectors don’t show everything in a gallery. I saw mind blowing pages I’ve never seen before. • I made new friends 👍 I live in sunny so cal. This LA show gives grapeape a chance to scour for unseen pages and meet cool people (Mike Mignola a prince of a man) also John Livesay!
  3. I sent comicconnect an email about a Kirby page they were taking offers on. I offered them within $1000 of their buy it price. The page had sat there flat for 9 months. I waited two weeks, sent one more “hello?” email then deleted them from any serious consideration. You always answer a potential buyer. If you want to be taken seriously that is.
  4. Haha!!! The demons gave conquered the great grape ape. The urge to bid, to kill other bids, is too strong. He is conquered! So he conquers!!
  5. I’m sorry about my behavior Bill. I’m in a self help group now. Damn this dirty addiction to art! This won’t happen again I..... look.... Paw Paw bought me that comic when I was five and.... I remember THAT page most of all... GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVE ME I NEED I NEED Arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! 🍇 + 🦍
  6. Fair enough. Well congratulations to the mystery buyer. John Romita Sr. is a legend for sure.
  7. Well you nailed it earlier. Anthony “stole” it at $155. Rick2you2 actually giving good advice especially for newbies trying to win a page. Dealers having a difficult time replacing their inventory (that’s their problem). Pages more expensive today even for dreck. Even before this mad scramble to scrounge up “fresh” inventory dealers have always competed with collectors for art. Greed is good. Imagine FMV. Double it in your mind. Bid accordingly. If you’re a collector you’ll probably win it for less then that max, a dealer won’t chase beyond what he can justify his resell markup. Now if you’re bidding against a serious collector who wants that page and just doesn’t give a _ _ _ _ then you’re probably going to lose anyways.
  8. That’s quite a mark up! Although when you factor in that Anthony is probably throwing in a signed random Esad Ribic print,.,,then the flip spread doesn’t seem so off putting
  9. Don’t leave us hanging Mitch! what was the final “hammer” on the ASM 109 page 7...,, ?
  10. I hadn’t planned on going. But to see this live and in person.... grape ape might have to put on a fresh pair o fruit of the looms and make the drive.
  11. On a serious note, I wonder if the guys would consider adding a charitable element to their show? This goes out to Will, Bechara, Glen and Bill Cox to who I think is a swell fella. Save a bonus charitable round where a donated piece of art could be “claimed” and all the money would go to a pronounced charity. • set a timer 60 seconds and the art with an opening bid minimum.,..chat claimers time stamped offer bids decide within 60 second expiration. You could donate all the money to a worthy charitable organization such as The LU FAMILY FUND• PALTOWN as I’m sure you know Felix Lu does great charity work through his website: or a fund of the dealers choosing. art could come from dealers and from donations from collectors like us. You could give a shout out each episode to the donated work and the collector contributing. Grape thought this might be something all of us could get behind even if we sometimes bump heads out there on the battlefield of art collecting.
  12. If a potential buyer counter offers a Donelly on a piece of art can we set a 10 second time limit if one brother responds, “I have to ask my brother.” before accepting the offer?
  13. Mitch already set me straight. Not a chance in H E double toothpicks. LFGM
  14. No no nothing dubious. I just thought the other guy would get a chance to match. But yeah I thinK Saul did say first at $650. I hope the guy at $625 really wasn’t passionate about it. Losing it over $25 will eat at ya!
  15. Pages that honestly stood out to me Saul’s Marie Severin page with the Hulk and the Starlin Warlock page. Becharra had a really exceptional Jim Mooney page with Marvel Girl on it. I think it went $3300. Whoever got that one ✅
  16. Did Rich Donelly stomp on a cut bid to snag that Krenkel Red Sonja at $650? There was an offer of $600. Saul countered $650. Claimer split offer $625 Then I believe Rich jumped in at $650 and Saul called the auction over! 😂 Not saying it’s wrong. But it felt...... 😬 The opening was $800
  17. Have these clowns listed anything else?
  18. I met John Romita at SDCC the month after his new book The Art of John Romita came out. I talked to him about the book and so much more!! He also drew me a Spidey head sketch which I still proudly display in my CAF gallery. In that 1996 book he specifically hails ASM 109 as his favorite story that he worked on. Wow what a page.
  19. Brian overall I’m holding my inventory. Theres no doubt you’d make a killing on those pages. I guess it’s just a matter of (do you want to let them go?)
  20. 👶 🤤 😤 👽ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  21. Hey if this applies to you happy Father’s Day!!! My kids got me this great card...it’s actually a hologram effect. They appreciate their 53 year old dad/grandpa/uncle is still a kid at heart. To the kids at heart who helped raise a kid(s) enjoy what’s left of this day!
  22. Bagley ASM page went $2400 this weekend at HA. Nowhere as nice as the 371 page. That’s easily $3500. these are really nice I’d get them if you can.
