  1. On the tax thing. You ALWAYS had to pay taxes on capital gains. You would technically have to pay this tax if you made a cash deal in your living room. The only change the law made was that now Pay services like PayPal issue a 1099 so you can't avoid paying the capital gains tax if you use those services. The reporting Threshold is $600, but it's not a new tax.
  2. I wish someone would reboot Space:1999. Call it "Moonbase Alpha" and jettison the dateline. In fact, I have a terrific idea for it. (Which I will only share with whomever owns the TV or film rights).
  3. Hey guys. I’m taking offers for this piece I “own.” 😉 Starting bid is $250 million.
  4. ComicConnect - Kirby, Jack - STRANGE TALES (1951-76) #89 Interior Page - VF: 8.0
  5. This saddens me. I need to find a good Legion of Superheroes page from his iconic run.
  6. If you have the funds, I do suggest hiring a private attorney with a Lawfirm who has a good investigator. Also, maybe contact the FBI field office in Missouri, which is obviously one of the nodes of the mail theft ring. Once the mail is removed from the USPS facility and is resold, it’s not just a USPS postal inspector issue. It’s a federal crime that the FBI should be investigating.
  7. Is that the guy selling the Frankenstein “recreations?”
  8. Yes. But speculators don't give a hoot about any of that. That's the difference between a collector and a speculator.
  9. I'm waiting for the "Paranoid" Foil album re-issue, with hologram, and Letter of Authenticity signed by Sharon Osbourne.
  10. Is CGC going to be sponsoring any witnessed signings by Geezer Butler?
  11. Hence my distinguishing between speculators and collectors/dealers. Yes. Many speculators DO try to make the calculation, contrary to what some here have argued. At least back of the hand, or SWAG. They have to, otherwise they wouldn't pick one investment vehicle over another. It's a lot easier to park cash in a high yield savings account than to guess as to whether a Mike Zeck Punisher page is going to appreciate at a daily compounded rate of 5% apy
  12. That Bob Ross painting has far more in common with Comic art than fine art. i.e. its value is that it was Bob Ross' first painting and he's a cultural figure. If he was just some unknown art teacher, it would probably be worth $150. Although, on another note, imagine trying to fake a screen painted Bob Ross painting. You could compare each and every brush stroke of the painting to the video of him painting it and sniff out a fake in about 5 minutes.
  13. You can park $250K in a federally protected high yield money market account and earn 5% on it right now. That's why people are not speculating on collectibles as much. Why do that when you can get a guaranteed 5% compounded return on an FDIC insured account? The speculators out of the market, and it's just collectors and dealers.
  14. This reminds me of the famous Arnold autograph right smack dab in the middle of John Buscema's Conan movie adaptation cover. +++ for getting Arnie to sign it. Minus 1 million for having him do it in the middle of Buscema's great artwork.
  15. That and the fact that Scrooge himself started out as an ethnic stereotype of the tight-fisted, skinflint Scotsman. (As his NAME would suggest). But still -- that image is exceedingly ugly. I wouldn't buy it just for that reason alone.
  16. It's a little odd, to be sure. It would be one thing if it was a vintage, 1940's Spirit page or something.
