  1. Still on the hunt filling in my small press and a few other books that I'm missing. I'm happy to say I did get some books I was missing, mostly for a quarter each. Not totally perfect, but probably VF or better.

    I did pick up 11 more Image newsstands: Cyberforce 1st series #2,3, 2nd series #2, Union #1, Pact #1, Newmen #2,3, Kindred #3, Wildstar #1, Savage Dragon 1st series #2, and Superpatriot #4.

BTW, how hard is a Superman #53 2nd print to find? I can't find one on Ebay and mycomicshop doesn't list it. Comiccollectorlive has 3 copies, 2 of those asking $20+

  2. I actually think b&m stores should stock all comics, unless they deal exclusively in vintage. They don't have to pay much for the books, 5-10 cents each when buying collections. I used to buy long boxes all the time of drek for $10. In fact I purchased about 4 long boxes one time I think for no more than $10 per box, possibly less. I then picked out what I could use in the store, about 1 1/2 long boxes,  and sold the rest to a customer of mine for what I paid for everything. He was happy because he paid dirt cheap and I was happy because I got 1 1/2 long boxes for free. :)

The boxes alone were worth at least $5 themselves and the bags/boards were probably worth the payment too. So he probably looked at it as getting the comics for free.

  3. I could swear on one of the CGC site pages there was a list of current turnaround times which said "on time" or I guess if behind would say how many days. I only see with the rates and the title on the table of "Turnaround Times" the days which the category has. So Express says 5 days, yet they are usually 3-4 days ahead. Anyone has any info on if there is a second page?

  4. I had a friend who worked for a large stamp auction house who used to sell me the majority for 40% or more off guide price, and he gave me better stuff. I was picking unused US stamps from the late 1800s-early 1900s filling in my collection. This was when I had my b&m store back in the 1990s pretty much before Ebay. When people used to come in with comic collections that were just miscellaneous, mostly Silver & Bronze at the time with some 1980s mixed in, as long as they looked decent $0.50-$1.00 per book was usually the best we paid unless there were keys in the collection which we would pull out and grade/price separately.

  5. Well I think some of you are not realizing turn around times are business days which don't include weekends and holidays (4th of July being most recent). So almost every tier is still on time if you calculate time verified to time shipped. The amount of books submitted through mail and cons is extremely high right now so I see some of you have some time difference between CGC receiving your package and the time it gets verified. Patience is a virtue. :)

  6. Actually I had some of the Batman issues from like 421, 422, 423 I think. I broke them out of the packs. Have no idea where the comics are, but possibly went up in flames with my truck last year. I have one set left. What I did discover is that the 10 trading cards on the green backer was worth money. I sold one for $10 several years ago.

  7. That TF1 was graded in 11/15. Old case usually had openings on sides. Case does not look tampered with. TF will probably increase in value over the years, so I would offer to take the book back and then sell it higher. Average sales right now for the past 3 months is $90 and climbing. Definitely block him. Anyone who ever gives me issues, even leaving neutral fb or no fb but complains gets blocked. Let us know what happens with this.

  8. Actually Scooby Doo Gold Key issues are extremely hot. There are never many on sale on Ebay. Type Scooby Doo Gold Key and 47 listings come up. Add another 34 Whitman and you get a total of 81 listings. Glancing through there was a non-comic book with the Whitman search. With 30 total comics, that averages less than 3 copies for the listings. I don't know if they are rare, but they definitely sell rather quickly.

  9. I'm wondering if the original art for that unpublished cover even exists. Would have been a cool find. I showed my wife and she actually didn't like it as much as I thought she would. She did appreciate it though, especially the reaction of the kids to the snake.

  10. I've been buying Overstreet every year since 1984 when I started collecting. I think it's fun reading the articles, market reports, and seeing prices. Whether or not they are accurate is irrelevant as there are numerous sources for prices on the internet. It gives a foundation as to what a comic could be worth and is a perfect starting point for many low to mid-grade comics. Slabbed books higher than 9.0 are pretty much in a league of their own, especially vintage, so no matter what OS puts the price at, it will probably never be accurate. The market is just too volatile on many books. I'm glad it's out and will try and get my copy this weekend.

  11. I can't remember which issue of EC comics had an ad for Tiny Tot. I think it was Picture Stories from the Bible, but could be wrong. The ad I think was in the centerfold. It showed an issue of I guess an upcoming Tiny Tot Comics which pictured pumpkins and was either fall or Halloween theme. My wife loves pumpkins and would have loved this comic cover. Thing is, when I went to look up the issue, the released comic had a totally different cover. Does anyone have a copy they can scan and post here so I can get another look at it? Thanks.
