  1. The original holder was not cracked or damaged. I had the comic book reholdered because I like the appearance and features of the new holder.
  2. Yes, it is very unfortunate. I was very upset when I received it. It is a Swamp Thing #1. I am hoping to have it signed by Bernie Wrightson one day. Thank you for the replies, Batman.
  3. Thank you for the reply, MadGenius. I was afraid of that. It is absolutely not a bindery tear, Batman. The corner was either torn off during shipping when it was in the original holder, or it was torn when the comic book was removed from the original holder in the process of being reholdered.
  4. I am not tech-savvy, Batman. 1/8 inch of the top-right corner of the cover is torn. I just measured it.
  5. I contacted CGC. The tear was absolutely not there when the comic book was shipped to be reholdered. Unfortunately, there is very little that can be done about it. That is why I plan on having the comic book signed one day. I am hoping that the signature will help to offset a potential lower grade. What may the lower grade be as a result of a small piece of the top-right corner of the cover being torn?
  6. Will CGC be attending Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this year?
  7. I understand now. Thank you, mschmidt. I am shipping it back to CGC in order for it to be reholdered with a Qualified label.
  8. Is it typical for a holder to occasionally have a small stress crack? A few of my holders have a very thin crack on top. Thank you in advance for any replies.
  9. Perhaps the signed comic book would have received a higher grade if it were given a Qualified label. I will contact CGC to inquire. Thank you all.
  10. I recently received a reholdered comic book from CGC. I noticed that a small piece of the top-right corner of the cover was torn. It may have happened during shipping when it was in the original holder. The interesting thing about it is that it still maintained the original grade of 9.4 in spite of the small tear. Is it possible that the tear was not significant enough to warrant a lower grade? I am concerned about it because I plan on having the comic book signed one day, and I am hoping that it will still receive a grade of 9.4 when it is reholdered with a Signature Series label. Thank you in advance for any replies.
  11. I recently added The Phantom #72 to my collection. It was the first comic book that I ever purchased back in 1976. I was able to find a very nice copy on eBay. It received a CGC grade of 9.2 WHITE Pages. I am very happy with the result.
  12. That is annoying. Would it be worthwhile for me to ship it back to CGC in order for it to be reholdered with a Qualified label, or is a Universal label more desirable?
  13. The comic book received a grade of 9.4 and a Label Text notation "NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER." The same reasoning may apply. The comic book may otherwise have received a higher grade. It just does not make sense that one of the four signed comic books that I submitted would be returned to me with a Universal label.
  14. Thank you for the reply, mschmidt. Your explanation leads me to believe that it may in fact be intentional and not an error. Is a Universal label more desirable with a signature on the cover of the comic book? If so, I will simply leave it alone and be happy with it.
  15. The signed comic book did not receive a Qualified label. It received a Universal label. The other three signed comic books that I submitted at the same time received Qualified labels. That is why I am confused.
  16. I recently received a CGC Universal label on a signed comic book that was not signed under the direct observation of a CGC representative. Three other signed comic books that I submitted at the same time received Qualified labels. Would anyone be able to explain this to me? Thank you in advance for any replies.
