  1. I do feel you. I was vacillating between Byrne and Perez for the 80s. I'm a huge Byrne fan. Byrne had X-Men, FF, and my personal favorite Superman. But I looked at Perez' body of work with New Teen Titans (which was outselling X-men at one point) COIE, Wonder Woman and his technical skill and pushed him a smidge above Byrne. Frank Miller I enjoyed for his writing more than his art.
  2. I kind of take that into account when choosing Blank of the Decade lists. If it was just my favorite artists from each decade my list would also be different.
  3. I could be persuaded on McFarlane for the 90s. Kirby in the 40s had nowhere near the impact he had in the 60s (eventhough he co-created Cap). He was drawing: Fantastic Four Journey into Mystery Tales of Suspense X-Men Avengers Strange Tales Sgt. Fury Some almost all simultaneously. While also doing a ton of covers at the same time. He did the cover to the most famous Marvel book of all-time AF15 cause the Editor thought the one Ditko drew was spoon. He doesn't get enough credit cause Stan Lee took it all from his artists and co-creators (same boat Ditko was put in).
  4. Criteria : You can pick only 1 (one) Artist from each Decade from starting in 1940 to 2020. Cannot choose the same artist twice. My Picks : 1940s Will Eisner 1950s Wally Wood 1960s Jack Kirby 1970s Neal Adams 1980s George Perez 1990s Alex Ross 2000s Greg Capullo 2010s Fiona Staples Thoughts?
  5. All comics have been computer enhanced since the mid to late 90s when digital coloring started. Also many artists do their sketching and drawing on tablets and forgo traditional pencil to paper. I know Artgerm primarily draws his covers in the digital realm. I'm not sure why the medium used by the artist matters. Alex Ross paints in gouache, some use an iPad. This is Jim Lee using a 12 year old iPad and his finger. Talent is Talent.
  6. What are your current favorite Cover Artists that you think people will be debating and collecting (just for the covers) like the GA Artists that are popular and have remained so 70 years after the fact? I think Jock will be one as he already has an iconic Cover in Detective Comics 880. Another two I think will be J.Scott Campbell and Adam Hughes as they have that GGA feel in the vein of Matt Baker. Thoughts?
  7. Hey. I'm reorganizing my 1985 to 2011 runs of Superman ,AOS, SMOS and AC with the assorted one-shots etc. Do you organize your collections from.this time frame by series or by the triangle numbering? I currently have them all organized by series with the one-shots and annuals in their own box. But when someone suggested the Emperor Joker storyline, I decided to dig it out and give it a re-read as Inhadnt read it since it came out. I had to go and pull out and dig through 5 boxes. If they were in the triangle system I would have had 1 box. I know the triangle ended in 2002ish but that's still 11 years (from 1991) to organize. Thoughts?
  8. Part of an ongoing. Try again.🤗
  9. Apparently they did a movie of the book. Momoa has some shoes to fill.😄 Lobo's Paramilitary Christmas Special https://youtu.be/t9ooZYjF0mI
  10. Part 5 of 9 of story from an ongoing series. But I see what you did there. 😏 😉👏
  11. Superman: Emperor Joker is a collected edition but I'm intrigued by the Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special. Have to check that one out. Special place in my heart for Keith Giffen.
  12. Hahaha 😄 Probably. Too much of a coincidence.
  13. Did not know this. I thought there was one over-arching story. Cool. Isn't that what comic fandom is?😁
  14. Any books you would like to recommend?
  15. I've gotten some great recommendations out of the threads and people are talking about the books themselves rather than the grade or how much it costs. So win.👍
  16. I can see you're someone who likes to bend the rules but I'll allow it for such cool books.😁
  17. You're right. The edition I was given was all one volume. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
  18. Defined as: A one-shot comic book is a standalone comic book that tells a complete story in a single issue. Unlike an ongoing series, which typically releases issues on a regular schedule and tells an ongoing story over multiple issues, a one-shot comic book is designed to be read and enjoyed on its own. 1001 Nights of Snowfall The Killing Joke Superman: Red Son (not a one-shot) Interested to see some of the books as this is one as it's one area I'm a bit weak on in knowledge as I tended just to pick the one-shots of series or characters I collected.
  19. I really wanted to go with Sandman too as it's one of the series I have complete. But missing the first 12 issues or so would have bugged me as it started in the 80s. I felt it was better to have the start of series than come in a quarter of the way thru so I went with Spawn for another Gaiman connection.
