  1. Almost none are from the registry actually. I didn't really search that thoroughly, mainly because a vast majority of books on there are not SS books. I did a combination of search tools including: Worthpoint, which is critical. I used the Verify CGC tool a lot, when I found a number, because usual submissions are paired with a few similar books. So I found a few stacked numbers. Google, GPAnalysis, Clink, HA, and myslabbedcomics
  2. Thank you! I really hope so too. It's a lot of fun, and I also hope it inspires people to share the hidden books that people wouldn't otherwise see. Hard to tell, but there's only one way to find out.
  3. Submission: Wolverine v3 (2003) #66 CGC 9.8 SS (Michael Turner) Sketch Variant Total Census Count: 29 (as of November 29, 2023) Serial Numbers Found: 19 Serial Numbers List: 4173762001 0950524003 1010918063 0970922011 1003893006 1003893007 1010918065 1063762024 1063762023 1063762022 1063762021 1120216019 1289522009 1002585006 1009109005 1413825003 1145197006 2729319018 2729319020
  4. So Zack Snyder is making headlines about his chit chat with James Gunn, and how we wished him all the best, but did hint at the idea of coming back on one condition: I think this needs to happen. I know there are a lot of Zack Snyder fans out there, and love/hate his works on Superman, BvS... Watchmen... I think we can all agree on one thing: When Zack Snyder directly adapts previously completed and successful work: 300, it's a literal masterpiece. I don't know how many people read 300 before watching Synder's 300, but it was literally a page by page turn, and he literally made it come to life. I think for those who truly love The Dark Knight Returns, and would love to see a live action version on screen... this is the man to do it.
  5. As the obsessed, crazy person that I am, I am frequently lurking around the depths of the web to find out more information on books that I love and collect. We all know that CGC keeps a log and record of all serial numbers on the Census, which we can all check to verify whether or not a book is authentic. Now, I thought, wouldn't it be nice to know which books were signed by whom? How many of a particular book exists? And dare I say, what those signatures actually look like? Well! I do. So I'm going to start on a fan favourite of mine, and maybe this will go somewhere. Maybe it won't. Who knows! I log: Submission: Marvel Comics Presents #72 CGC 9.8 SS Total Census Count: 19 (as of November 29, 2023) Serial Numbers Found: 12 Serial Numbers List: 0958841001 0958841002 0993676007 0993676008 1008501002 1008501003 1318940011 0216214010 1331997003 1330643004 1019794012 1063796003
  6. I have only read one issue of Archie vs predator, and it was a good time! I want to read it end to end
  7. True! Comic integrity in jeopardy
  8. If you are a run collector, I highly suggest you shift into: Omnibuses Then, buy high grade CGC copies of your favourite issue(s) as celebration copies of stories you love. This will: A) Keep your budget manageable B) Allow for more run collecting C) Simplify selling if/when it comes time. You will densify your collection to its purest sense.
  9. So, that was actually why I bought them. I’m a huge crime noir nut. I am hooked on Brubaker, FM’s Sin City, and Blacksad (although the later volumes don’t do it for me). I did like how well Darwyn adapted things, but even his work wasn’t a slam dunk. The storytelling, sometimes was a bit jarring, and the 1 color tone bothered me more than I thought it would. Honestly I just hated the main character. I found him completely and utterly unlikeable. The story telling was good and it was interesting. Not flawless either, but I just hated Parker. He had no redeeming qualities to me. He felt like the standard 1 dimensional action hero with all tropes balled into one square jaw, which does make sense for the period it was written in. That being said, I do love me a crime noir, and usually eat it up. So if you have any suggestions, I will absolutely check it out. Right now I’m on Gun Honey. It’s good…
  10. Really?? So this series was a classic, buy first, read second - mistake for me. I bought the martini collections AND managed to track down each signed nycc and sdcc Darwyn hardcovers. It took years. THEN I read it. I hated it. I hated them so much that I sold them all Just goes to show, we can all like something different
  11. It’s a concern I also share. I have had this debate with people frequently on thr longevity of the hobby. Honestly there are valid arguments on both sides. From my perspective, I use my kids and friends’ kids as my pool of examples. Even though it’s not the largest sample group, I feel like it illustrates the same values, where the 2010s and up don’t read many comics. They didn’t grow up with them the same way that we do, and quite honestly, video games are so advanced now that kids just gravitate towards them. Someone once said, why read Batman when you can BE Batman. Lurking in the shadows and punching bad guys’ heads through the walls. I think books will always be around, but the pool will slowly shrink and shrink. So I say, collect what you like, read what you can, and enjoy it while it lasts.
  12. I respect your opinion Now, here’s another: Golden Age: The Birth… Silver Age: The Death… Bronze Age: The Resurrection… Copper Age: The Pinnacle… Modern Age: The Duality…
  13. this literally made me laugh out loud, because it hasn’t been a perspective I’ve heard often. But I can totally see it. I feel like finding a true authentic, original copy of H181 that hasn’t been pressed back to pulp would be the equivalent of finding the bones of Jimmy Hoffa… nonexistent
  14. Not ultra clear sig, but a grail book I have been on the hunt for since 2016. Literally.
  15. Confirmed prices: in 2022 (so… last year) the average sale, not one… the average sale for Spawn 306 Netherrealm 9.8 was $4,850. As Ares stated, the variant was not rare. Last sale: $500 9.8 There’s OP’s answer. Yes, if ample examples exist, it will effect the book
  16. Spawn 306 Netherrealm variant. I am summarizing and haven’t bothered to confirm the actual numbers, but a 9.8 went for thousands and thousands. The rarity turned out to be a lie. Hundreds existed and now it sells for $300ish for a 9.8

    Bird R.I.P.

Wow I just engaged with him. That’s so sad. Best wishes, Bird.
  18. I was always a boardie, even before the internet and all we had were BBS’. Then the internet became mainstream and boards were the main form of sharing common interests with others. Boards are a dying art form.
  19. So it’s not just a clever name? I don’t know if someone made this comment before but… Don’t people find it ironic, that the one business with high prices, is called Mile High?? Mile High Priced Comics? Genius marketing
  20. Someone made a video/post about superheroes… kind of in line with what you’re saying, basically summarizing the current public opinion on them. They got to Wolverine, and said he was your dad’s favourite superhero. Meaning, not cool anymore, but means a lot to an older generation. A bit of me died that day, knowing that my favourite character may not be so loved anymore for future generations.
  21. 66k competes with a lot of other luxuries out there. Obviously we are talking subjectively. And maybe you’re right, you know? Maybe there are 200 people that would drop it. It is possible. Only time will tell. I just wish we had a comparison. Top/Most Popular 1st Appearance Golden Age I’d think is either Supes or Batman Silver Age is obviously Spider-Man Bronze/Copper age? Who is the most popular 1st appearance? Wolverine I would think. Who is the 2nd? Ninja Turtles? But their CGC counts are low. There are 42 1st print 9.8 TMNT. 5 sales in 3 years: 175k average, low of 120k Hulk 181s, 16 sales in 3 years. 3.6 times more hulks than tmnts 3.2 times more sales of hulks than tmnts but hulk low is 66k, tmnt low is 120k, I mean, just a bad comparison, but based on these, hulk181 should be 40k. And that makes sense to me. I think it will live forever at 40k, with 155 9.8s
