  1. I heard good things about Bone. It’s not exactly the pro woman centric book you might be looking for. I also heard good things about Lumberjanes and Gotham Academy was pretty addicting (volume 1)
  2. the NFS part made me laugh out loud. The fact that you finally tracked one down, I’d be surprised if you’d put it up. Looks great though. Is the leather real or just printed?
  3. Yeah it’s unfortunate. I haven’t seen many fully 340s. Especially the last 2 signings, which I think were 50,000 subs in total, of all the 340 subs, not 1 fully Todd. Sad.
  4. If you’re reading Days of Future Past, then I suggest also reading these:
  5. Some books I have been meaning to get for a long time, hardcovers Old Man Logan, Wonder Woman Dead Earth, and Absolute Danger Girl. The Danger Girl has been priced so high for so long. Big waiting game on this one. Prices are finally more reasonable now.
  6. Good question. Very good question. The only WW book that I like was Dead Earth, which is definitely 12+ What would I recommend for girls. Let me seriously think on that and reply back
  7. Batman Universe is a good book for any age. I even have my 2 year old flipping through it, as it has dinosaurs, gorillas, action, and of course, Batman. Our 13 year old read it, and frequently rereads it. I’ve read it, and I love it. A true book for all ages.
  8. I think Art Adams is one of the best examples of a classic artist that bridged 2 generations. Truly bridges 2 generations. And I don’t mean artists that copied them, or had clones, although Adams definitely had those. But his art techniques and style embodied the classic styles, but arguably, more importantly: ushering some new elements that are still used to this day. I must confess, I am not an Art Adams fan by definition. His style in specific is not to my liking, but his influence is unmistakeable. He is one of the modern renaissance artists
  9. It definitely illustrates an era, for sure, and how tastes and interests change, as a whole. Now this would never fly, regardless of how dynamic his work is. The bar is so much higher now for new artists that the stuff that I liked as a kid, is painfully dated. Some of it (kind of) holds up, but the level of amateur artists alone is remarkable.
  10. well two points, one, I’m glad you didn’t get t-bagged but I also don’t like this placement. I don’t like when he signs in the hand. I prefer it below the logo. I saw one, double line sig, in line green. Never bought it, regretted it ever since
  11. Do not crack 9.9s or 10s Unless you have multiple. Then swing for it. I’m actually afraid now to submit 9.8s, as reference. I do believe, as a side bar, foils, for whatever reason, due to the poly covers, tend to hold up their grades better, so if you have a 9.9 foil cover, you probably have a 25% chance of keeping the grade, vs a traditional book which, imho, would have a 1% or 2% chance.
  12. Let’s be serious, does anyone actually care and go out of their way to shop with a specific seller (outside of, mycomicshop)? 100 to 1 says, the majority of your purchases will never be with a seller more than 1 time, and that is because we are all driven by best price. The eBay seller was a total **** though, for sure.
  13. interesting. I don’t mind some repetitive story threads if the story itself is entertaining to be honest. One of my biggest complaints is when stories don’t end. I can’t deal well with incomplete stories or plot holes. An example I recently got stuck with was Afterlife with Archie. I am still finding books from time to time that I missed so I feel like I’m always playing catch-up (not necessarily a bad thing). So I heard about Afterlife, picked up the first trade AND LOVED IT. Tried to pick up the second trade, and although there were ads for it, I later realized it got cancelled aaand the writer dropped the book in favour for the tv show. Now there’s just an incomplete story. Hmmmm… Uber violent I’m okay with. I know some people can find extreme violence to be a distraction. I recently recommended Hard Boiled to a comic enthusiast, not realizing they did not do well with the violence whoops
  14. Yes! Well said. It was a surprise hit for me which also really stuck to my guts. It felt very real and human for a Batman story which is nice. Snyder tried to connect an unofficial sequel to it with Batman Who Laughs and Jim Gordon JR but it really fell flat for me. Just goes to show how truly rare it is to get a story that is so compelling.
  15. Friendly Just a short few days away!
  16. Yeah. I feel the same. I can’t afford to get 9.6s with 9.8s being so expensive. I now have an ever growing collection of blue labels I am afraid to crack. That 145 is pretty sweet. Even in a 9.6
  17. What are breakers? sorry I just saw an ad for whatnot, I see it’s a thing now, and you are educating me. It feels like another gimmick but that might not be fair for me to say
  18. At least Liefeld got one thing right, Captain America has no Johnson. Steroid abuse, super soldier steroids, or being locked in a block of ice for decades… There is no way his Johnson would have survived.
  19. So… I am like you. When I first started collecting (recollecting, I don’t consider my first experience as a kid, true collecting) I hated slabs. I don’t know why I hated slabs. Honestly it was partially due to the cost of them I’m sure. I also didn’t see the need for them. But, 9 years later, and I must confess, I am a slab collector, for 3 reasons: 1. Resale. I learned a hard lesson on comic selling. It is much easier to amass a collection than to sell it, at least for the value you have invested in it. 2. Protection. I slabbed books that don’t really have a need to be slabbed from an “investment” perspective because collection books that got signed, by me, now have the dreaded “green label of death”, but, whatever. They are my books I got signed, and I, like you, do care about condition, and worried about protecting them. A slab is just an easy way to go. 3. Hypocritical. What I hate about slabs, is something I grew to also appreciate. I hate this obsession and idiotic belief of the 9.8. We all know it’s subjective. Hell, CGC themselves have hiked up the expectations on 9.8 grading now whether they admit to it or not. But, hypocritically speaking, I’m also secretly bound by it. I love a 9.8 (a true 9.8), sitting in my collection. I marvel at it. I consider it among the best of my children. It’s disgusting, I know. All of my children are equal, and they are. But… deep down, how I covet my 9.8s, and I hate that. And love it
  20. Lol Well I do agree with you in some context for sure. And while I also enjoy reading my books, I tend to believe that, collecting anything without care or concern about condition is just hoarding
  21. Do you typically collect CGC books then if you are a run collector? I was just curious because you considered 423 a must have, and I was wondering why that was the case. I hear a lot of people talking about that book. I think a grail book is anything that means top value to you. I think personal grails make a collection, whatever they are.
  22. Congratulations on achieving your grail book. May I ask what is it with this book that makes it a grail for you?
