  1. Cool Alien Axis cover! Its always been one of my favorites because its just so weird! I should have resisted this one because I already had a copy but this book is extremely rare in high grade and this particular copy is probably the third nicest graded copy. There is only an 8.0 and a 9.0 above it. It is tied with another 7.0 but I'm thinking this copy's page quality is probably nicer than the other one so I'm calling it the third nicest copy.
  2. Very nice and with great page quality! The early marvel Mysterys are almost all instant classic covers. I love going to small shows and finding something like this. The last small show I went to in Albuquerque had a guy visiting from Colorado with a handful of Timelys. I really didn't expect anything out of the show so I didn't take any cash. He did not take credit cards! That was more than a decade ago and I still don't take a lot of cash around. At lest the dealers can now take cards at shows. Wait, is that a good thing?
  3. I'll second that, Steve! And you're right, MM #3 does look heavily pulp inspired. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Alex borrowed elements from a horror pulp cover to create this... Maybe someone with a broader knowledge of late 30's horror/crime pulps can find a direct link. I'd love to see the pulp cover art that inspired this macabre beauty! As always Cat, your books are just amazing! Man, A legless guy wielding a hatchet with skulls and an evil Buddha robot in the background! Schomburg rules!
  4. The colors on this are outstanding! I could never afford Mr Bedrock's 9.4 but I'd be proud to have this in my collection!
  5. Awesome book and awesome factoid! Congratulations! Now you just have to release it from Voldemort's grip!
  6. I missed those! I would have cost someone quite a few more eggs (assuming I didn't win of course ).
  7. Yeah, apparently Subby was too busy courting favor with the fairer sex to help Cap, Torch & Toro rescue Bucky from alien invaders... Cap gets Bucky through WW II, saving him how many times from Nazis. Peace finally arrives and the kid let's himself get captured by space invaders! Four fingered ones at that! The little green invaders may be from Timely's funny animal side of the stable cleverly disguised as alien robots. Also, Bucky appears to be frozen solid. I think he needs the Torch & Toro's help more than Cap's! ...How nightmarish! _____________________ P.S. Recently snagged this sweet Schomburg classic at Chicago Wizard. Big thanks to Frank (Metropolis) for pulling this for me. I watched this one for quite a while on their site thinking, "should I?" Great book and I'm glad it went to a boardie!
  8. I love Big Little books! If I couldn't find a comic I wanted at the TG&Y I would look for a Big Little book. I've frequently thought of picking up the Disney ones but I have never done so; they would be another thing to store somewhere.
  9. TERRIFIC! ...and I don't have even one of them! mm
  10. I basically have a lower limit on books I will list "OBO" - I don't entertain OBOs for books that are listed for under $5 and those that are OBO are set to auto-reject under about 2/3 asking price. That leaves room for honest bargaining and not having to deal with people who send unreasonable lowball offers. Auto-reject is easy to set up for a few items...not so easy for hundreds or thousands of items. It can add up to many, many hours of time. Download eBay's Turbo Lister. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/turbo-lister-ov.html You can configure templates so that you have preset requirements for each category you sell in. It makes it very easy to list a hundred items with different starting prices and "Buy it Now" requirements.
  11. Woooeeee! dogee! That is a mighty fine comic book you have there, sir! I love the way Schomburg draws women.
