  1. A $2 1995 pickup from "Rino" my go to local show seller during my early college days. I acquired so many great books from him for what at the time was slightly under guide. He was a great conversationalist and one of only 2 Comic Dealers I've ever personally met that I feel was truly honest. Dude was a total straight shooter. Back from CGC this week one of my "Rino" WBN's - not pressed. All you WP only snobs folks please avert your eyes now as this one is ow and I simply could not care less! My $2-$10 1Mid 90's purchases from Rino are priceless as they bring me back to what was an exciting time in my life.
  2. The minor bottom crease that held the book back from being a 9.8 I know will press out. However using 4x magnification color breaking can be seen. Will probably reach out to Joey for guidance via a new thread in Comic Book Grading Sub-Forum 80 page Giant with Neal Adams/Plastino cover back this week from CGC. A 1999 $50 purchase which at time was high for the book.
  3. ^ Outstanding Ploog cover. So much so i won't make any double entendre jokes regarding the title.
  4. Mater of opinion is my feeling. My Dog's for example love brittle.
  5. Most probably , but my guess is the seller/dealer will state "CGC says its a 9.8, so it's a 9.8", not to mention the obligatory "It's a newsstand baby". Then after unloading it, brag about how much dough was made off the sucker!
  6. Loved the original Lemmings game. Now the music is mindworming in my brain...
  7. I do consider this first portion of this article honest and accurate ; https://www.cpvpriceguide.com/from-pandemic-boom-to-bust-in-comics/
  8. Every now and then i check out gocollect to see what rubbish Matt Tuck, Chris Severs and their ilk are spewing. Upon looking today I see no blog updates since Oct 29 Fingers crossed thIs continues. Before you attack that last comment, try to envision how many less experienced folks have lost money due to the half truthed hyperbole if not outright made up nonsense posing as opinion. Also how many of the folks who were suckered have left the hobby? If gocollect's investment speculation "articles" are gone, a welcome goodbye to bad rubbish. Sadly Tuck, Severs et al will simply dispense their self serving bile based on what they have long boxes type of tripe elsewhere...
  9. Yep, sell'em now if you have them. These film bumps are now rather fleeting. Fatigue has set in...Lemming population is dwindling
  10. Mylites 2Mil, are my preferred for the usage you mentioned. Less money than 4Mil sleeves but equal protection except for being dropped. IMHO eGerber is equal or superior to Bill Cole at 30-45% lower price! However eGerber is stuck in the middle part of the last century and only takes phone orders, and in my experience they seldom bother to actually answer the phone. Is business really that good for them?
  11. Self-submitted, NOT pressed, RAW purchase made in 1999, arrived back home yesterday. I measured the pages with my OWL they were White, in fact perhaps the most White SA pages I've ever seen - looked like a mid 80's DC (mando). Yet was given OW/W, seriously CGC WTF. At least they got the grade correct, one of the sharpest Mid 60's DC's I've ever held in my hands. Please note the vertical line on the S in Superman is the slab itself and looks worse in the scan than in hand.
  12. As you and I both know the Red covers are tough in High Grade. 1970's Scooby's seem to be very hot, be it Marvel or Gold Key. Early (PRE 1975) Gold Key's in 9.2 and above go for solid coin but they seldom pop up... Same goes for Scooby Marvel #1 in 9.8 last one sold at Heritage in May 2023 for $720 . I've not seen one on eBay in 2-3 years. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 1. 13. Comics and collectibles just like stocks have psychological price barriers both upwards and downwards on prices...well perhaps a lot less than stocks but they do exist... anyhow i read about it in a trading card forum. Will post it here if i can find it...
  14. IF it negatively breaches the psychological 500 barrier, it will drop below 450 then 400. Same of course applies to many books. The only question is if the 500 is threshold breached.
  15. Newly slabbed self-submission. Not pressed - pressing won't help the minor issues that prevent it from grading higher. As a teen, not sure why, but in terms of Superman/Action comic books I very much wanted a high grade Silver Age Superman with both Braniac and Luthor on cover. Later the same decade in 1998 I accomplished that goal, well sort of given they are only "wooden dummies". BTW I do consider mid 1960's DC in 9.4 to be high grade, but not so with Marvel. 1960's DC collectors have to be less picky given scant supply compared to Marvel in 9.2 and higher. Love the blurb Luthor Calling Superman! Are You Chicken?
  16. Back in the Summer of 1995 Geppi/Diamond placed ads for the "Gold Key Archive" in their publications like Overstreet Fan. I called them (Ann) up ordered some inexpensive books, both Little Stooges in my current signature for example, as well as some TV photo covers. My "best" pick up in hindsight was Scooby #9 which is the exact copy pictured in ad While I was not going to submit until Q/C actually existed again at CGC , I still had a credit for my club renewal last Dec - renewal is now turned off - so I dropped off a small stack at NYCC and have kept my fingers crossed they actually return to me without damage or worse not at all. Anyhow my Scooby 9 is back home :). This exact book carries huge personal memories of that summer. Some on this forum, not to mention a good buddy of mine, whine about or carp or scoff at any book without White Pages and this one is only Off-White but I'd rather have no other copy of the issue no matter the grade or page quality! While I fully agree with the grade I've seen many worse looking 9.6's .This book presents much nicer than a 9.4
  17. +.5 is possible depending on grader but so too is a -.5 drop. IMHO sometimes acceptance is easier on the wallet and more importantly the soul
