Carl Potts' ALIEN LEGION directed by Tim Miller (TBD)
MAY1979 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Was referring to a potential Film with "Don't believe it until you see it." - Even if a film actually see fruition, the new thing is if studio does not think it will make money they might shelve so the tax papers foot the bill. Hoping the id10t's in WashDC will change that but not expecting anything.- 16 replies

COMIC STORES 2023: 'IT'S NEARLY 2024 AND I'M MORE THAN CONCERNED'
MAY1979 replied to Prince Namor's topic in Comics General
Correct. Thats now an ubiquitous catch-all designed to ensure culture wars thus preventing + burying class wars. The sheep on all sides of the fence fall for it every time. -
COMIC STORES 2023: 'IT'S NEARLY 2024 AND I'M MORE THAN CONCERNED'
MAY1979 replied to Prince Namor's topic in Comics General
Slight tangent; I know of many including myself who quit DC the day New 52 took over. Sure it created a bump so Johns, Lee and Dideo were able to nicely pad their 2011 bonus' but as expected the increased sales were rather short lived. The few new readers/ customers who did stick around were dwarfed by those who walked away never to return... -

Meant books with highest/most 9.8 pop counts -
Don't worry about the wrap life's too short. If one is picky with Marvel's Hanna's they'll almost never get any. 'sides it looks GREAT! I for one am jelly I just checked the 3 Funtastic World Of Hanna-Barbera Treasury's no Space Ghost, no Herculoids. You are correct, TV Stars 3 is their only Full app in a Marvel published book. Both are seen on a Biography page in Laff 11. My opinion is the Bio page doesn't really count.

This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
MAY1979 replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
A $2 1995 pickup from "Rino" my go to local show seller during my early college days. I acquired so many great books from him for what at the time was slightly under guide. He was a great conversationalist and one of only 2 Comic Dealers I've ever personally met that I feel was truly honest. Dude was a total straight shooter. Back from CGC this week one of my "Rino" WBN's - not pressed. All you WP only snobs folks please avert your eyes now as this one is ow and I simply could not care less! My $2-$10 1Mid 90's purchases from Rino are priceless as they bring me back to what was an exciting time in my life. -
What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
MAY1979 replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
The minor bottom crease that held the book back from being a 9.8 I know will press out. However using 4x magnification color breaking can be seen. Will probably reach out to Joey for guidance via a new thread in Comic Book Grading Sub-Forum 80 page Giant with Neal Adams/Plastino cover back this week from CGC. A 1999 $50 purchase which at time was high for the book. -

CGC oops......
MAY1979 replied to avidcollector80's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Most probably , but my guess is the seller/dealer will state "CGC says its a 9.8, so it's a 9.8", not to mention the obligatory "It's a newsstand baby". Then after unloading it, brag about how much dough was made off the sucker! -

Every now and then i check out gocollect to see what rubbish Matt Tuck, Chris Severs and their ilk are spewing. Upon looking today I see no blog updates since Oct 29 Fingers crossed thIs continues. Before you attack that last comment, try to envision how many less experienced folks have lost money due to the half truthed hyperbole if not outright made up nonsense posing as opinion. Also how many of the folks who were suckered have left the hobby? If gocollect's investment speculation "articles" are gone, a welcome goodbye to bad rubbish. Sadly Tuck, Severs et al will simply dispense their self serving bile based on what they have long boxes type of tripe elsewhere...
