  1. CGC seems to have low tolerance for color loss on 252. While I do think a 9.4 is plausible after a C/P, my opinion is it's a 9.0 as is and possible 9.2 after press. Reason being CGC can be particularly harsh on 252
  2. As Bronze comics go now, $10,000 is the new $1,000. BTW as I learned from the 1st Star Wars extended universe thread and how all copies of Pizzazz #1 were wiped (sold) off the web as result, I've learned never ever give out advice on this forum on what to purchase. The words from my posts there that now haunt me! Marvel's Pizzazz 1 contains the first published Star Wars extended universe story, having been released late June 1977, 3 months before Star Wars 7 and 9 full months earlier than Splinter. Star Wars 7 is cover dated Jan 1978. That means it first hit the newsstands in Sept 1977 or 1st week of Oct 1977 at the latest. Alan Dean Foster's Splinter of the Mind's Eye first went on-sale March 1978. Pizzazz #1 was on-sale same month as Star Wars #4. This means the first Star Wars extended universe story appeared 2 months before the adaption of the film concluded in Star Wars #6 and before most had even seen the film.
  3. In my personal DB this is an export of my description labels/tags for #50. $1.25 Double-Sized, Alan Moore story, Death; Zatara and Sargon Of course as I've mentioned at least a few times I don't sell comics. it's strictly for look-ups or my own books.
  4. I believe there is a past history. The odd thing is I agree with both their points simultaneously.
  5. My hit ratio the last 10 years has been approx: 70% match my estimate, 20% are higher, 10% are lower. It does appear that when I'm off like you I am very very off I think I've figured out to some degree which defects CGC considers the most negative. However not going to get in to that as i could very well wrong and if I'm not I don't want it advertised
  6. Excellent post and points. The waffle inserts protect solely against light punctures and nothing else. Guess who ever suckered CGC on this packaging method sold it on the basis of how nice and professional it looks. Can't argue with that, but as you mentioned they provide zero protection against force and that is what actually damages slabs.
  7. The 2nd Superman-Spiderman had a total bronze "feel" to it, Batman/Hulk as well. X-Men/NTT to me though seems Copper. Then we have the all Marvel "Contest of the Champions" even though an Inventory story originally planned for the 80 Summer Olympics to me "feels" pure Copper.
  8. There is no hard delineation from Bronze to Copper and can be case by case. No one would ever say book's like TMNT, Transformers, GI JOE, Captain Carrot, Firestorm 2nd series, American Flagg or Judge Dredd are Bronze for example. Secret Wars is firmly Copper. ASM 252 is Copper - an argument can even be made that for the ASM title Copper began at end of 251 when Spidey is pulled into the Secret Wars. As for me personally I considers 229 "Nothing can stop the Juggernaut" as the start of ASM copper. Mileage will vary from collector to collector but I think nearly all will say that by 1985 Bronze was definitely gone regardless of title.
  9. Both are classic covers. Why does it have to be 1 or the others, why not both? Based on Census Pops, SW8 should continue to maintain a lower price point. Both books have dropped way off their 2021 highs and I'd bet there is still room for both to fall the next few months. Those expecting a free-fall however in 9.6 and 9.8 will likley be disappointed as demand has been great on both books for 4 decades. Still given the huge populations of both in 9.4, I foresee that grade testing then dropping below the $200 mark this year. Make note the 252 9.4 pop exceeds SW8 by nearly 15%! Original Comic Art sales historically at least have never boosted going rate of a comic book, vice-versa however is the norm. CGC Label CGC Total Avg. My opinions are based on 40 years in the hobby and ofttimes still are wrong I do own multiple of both books in 9.8, they were my childhood copies. I was an OCD collector in my youth. Finally got that demon off my back by switching over to Comics Art as primary hobby in 1999 and no longer reading/collecting new releases over a decade ago.
  10. Agreed. I might also add the house shill or algorithm (legal in Texas) will only bump it to near the top bid what ever that amount may be.
  11. Can you help me remove a sticker stain from this 1st issue? If it were any other issue number it could be removed easily and would look like it was never there. However on 1st issue's sticker residue presents an insurmountable challenge. IMHO given the book is readily available, keep the one you have for the memories and pick up a high grade copy for the collection while they are reasonably priced.
  12. My mistake - retracted I do deal with MCS. Love their boxes, excellent and secure packing, and low shipping rates. I've had good dealings with them. That said it's all been small potatoes normal run books for me. I purchased only single book at auction from them 5 years ago so my sampling is too low for it to be of value as a data point.
  13. As far as I am aware in Texas the practice is sadly legal. One of the multitude of reasons I no longer bid on anything Heritage offers. Does Heritage do it on every item? I doubt it, but they could if they so desire.
  14. There's nothing like the smell of a Gaines File Copy in the morning. BTW CGC has their own K-9 unit.
  15. Any chance it was just this guy "f-ing around" again and that he will return it in short order after being told it's not the 1st page w/Black Costume.
  16. yep , one would think he could very well afford a $500 scanner to post some decent pic's
  17. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=181058 Ol' Dan, if he chooses, can now retire comfortably. I know I would. Will however may be loosing some sleep
  18. So is the owner of this jumping for joy now? Or at least have enough potential scratch to get decent scan made? https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1192109
  19. Fair point. There was obvious funny business with Video Games and Sports Cards last year by various Auction Houses. They are shrewd, secretive and slippery so figuring out what the actual machinations are fall outside the current known data points available to apply to the situation.
  20. ... it appears you two did not look close enough at the context of my post in your frenzied rushed to defend your overlord Heritage If you look at the quoted post in my response, the context should be more clear. To expand on it from the original one-liner; What upset's me is that Heritage made 500K or so and Zeck still made zero. Of course his amount must be zero unless he sold it. But in overall grand universal scheme of things no one has to "like" it, although we do have to live with it.
