  1. Nice! OT; I use them for displaying Comics Slabs in my home office. The Gibson "mini's" are perfect for trading card slabs especially landscape view cards. BTW - Metropolis uses them for their displays at Cons.
  2. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 Spectacular Spider-Man 90 (5/84, Marvel Comics) 1st black costume in title. Black Cat appearance. Vision & Scarlet Witch cameo. Universal 1,056 9.19 209 261 199 131 93 56 44 22 10 10 11 5 3 1 1 I do wonder if the Scarlett Witch and Vision cameo has also contributed a tiny bit? Also due to the black cover it's condition sensitive. Census pop in 9.8 is very "low" when compared to ASM252 (or ASM194 )
  3. Same month as ASM252, it does surprise me it took that long for most to realize. PPTSM 90 is my personal favorite Black Cat cover. I have my 2 childhood copies sitting in Sarasota since Sept. Perhaps I will receive them back this decade?
  4. Assuming a minimum average reading of age 6 , then all who would read Spidey in say the last year of the 80's (1989) are now 38 years old. If they were reading Spidey in 1980 they now are at least 47 years old. Not exactly a youthful crowd
  5. I was one of them. Guardians 1 changed my mind as it was very enjoyable and fun to watch and made a boatload. Eternals however was boring nearly unintelligible (sorry Jack, I am still a huge fan of yours though) comic book and a boring somewhat intelligible film. I have no desire to see Eternals or Black Knight ever again in the MCU. Guardians on the other hand, as long as it's not a yawn-fest slog like Guardians 2, I am all for seeing.
  6. I'm a huge WW Fan and the movie was disservice to the character if not all humanity. Just how was that the steaming pile of excrement the -script Time-Warner chose? WW1984 may have destroyed what was shaping up to have been DC's most lucrative film franchise. To Geoff Johns - Stargirl is excellent, truly excellent in fact, possible the best superhero TV show ever IMHO, but your vast hubris (and or cash grab) may have destroyed the perception of a Wonder Woman Motion Picture for a generation to come. So thanks for nothing!
  7. My Astonishing Tales 25 has been stuck in CGC purgatory for "only'"4 months. I do wish I had not submitted it as I would now send it in for the signature. I'm not going to seek out another high grade copy to send now Sadly yes. Wish the reasons for that did not exist. Key art also going insane. Decent COIE pages have always been in demand now you needs Buffet, Bezos, Burkey type money to afford them. Ok Burkey does not belong there but some in OCA world may get the reference??
  8. I do know that at least some issues of ASM238 and FF252 were missing the tattooz from the insert. meaning there were never placed into the insert in the first place. It is joke but given CGC has cared about the tattooz themselves (I don't mean the paper insert) for 21 years there is no going back. I do wonder if those in the Tatooz "head office" back then would have ever thought their product name lived on in certain circles 35 years after they went out of biz
  9. Great book to have Mr George sign later this month. I'm in process of sending 1 of mine. Forgetting Scott Lang's 1st app, the cover is a All-time Stone Classic and depending on the beholder the nicest rendered Avengers cover in existence. George drew hundreds of excellent covers but Avengers 181 for many like myself is #1. Nothing say George Perez Avengers more than that cover. Disclosure: I own several raw and 2 CGC 9.8 of Avengers 181. 1 9.8 purchased for $40 in 2003 the other was a raw $5.00 purchase I submitted in 2021. I do not sell comics. I do not care if the book sells for $10 or $800, my only interest in the book is Amazing Perez/Austin Cover and Excellent Byrne/Day interiors - 4 True Masters of the Comics Art Craft worked on the book, it don't get better than that in comics.
  10. In the ASM 194 thread there were folks stating how "rare" a book it is with only 469!!! in 9.8 . It's become my "Niagara Falls". But yeah maybe I'll cool it down a bit rather than being perceived as "that guy".
  11. So what is the opinion of better purchase now; 1 copy ASM 194 CGC 9.8 at 5K or 2 copies of ASM 238 CGC 9.8 at 4800 total ? 238 in 2021 for while was a 5-6K book. Now you can buy 2 for that amount with hundreds back in change. To think ASM 194 won't follow a similar fall from grace is not realistic. The time to purchase the book was prior to 2020 the time to sell the book is now before it sinks. Of course I don't sell comics but if I did I'd sell it right now. Given CGC slabbed 194 is currently ubiquitous on eBay seems others have that idea.
  12. Not anymore. All copies gone on eBay and it's very low population graded book. About 20 total in all grades 11 of which are 9.4 and lower. The "Irony" here is the book can't get truly hot as it's actually too rare. Unlike ASM 194 of which thousands of copies exist and that's in 9.6 and higher
  13. Hi, @Jennifer F. the errors mentioned I have personally seen on all CGC copies of the books. Looking for it to be corrected going forward and properly updated in CGC's database, not necessarily on the copies I have. Lets take this as an example on the CGC Census DB: https://www.cgccomics.com/census/grades_standard.asp?title=Black+Panther&issue=14&publisher=Marvel+Comics&year=1979&issuedate=3/79 Wrong/Current Entry: Ed Hannigan story, Jerry Bingham & Gene Day art, Jerry Bingham cover Proposed Corrected Entry: Ed Hannigan story, Jerry Bingham & Gene Day art, 1st published cover by Bill Sienkiewicz I will email cust service as you mentioned.
  14. It does appears that comments or hype on this very Bronze sub-forum can have some effect on going rate. See the Pizzazz post 2/3 of the way down this page: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/271979-bronze-age-comics-that-are-heating-up-on-ebay/page/541/#comments
  15. Adding: Pizzazz #1 was on-sale same month as Star Wars #4. This means the first Star Wars extended universe story appeared 2 months before the adaption of the film concluded in Star Wars #6 and before most has even seen the film. Congrats to whomever wiped all the CGC copies off eBay. We all know it was those who read this topic that did it.
  16. All the CGC graded Pizzazz #1's on eBay are now gone. For those not following it was the 1st Star Wars extended universe story (Cover dated Oct 1977, on-sale late June 1977). Pizzazz #1 was on-sale same month as Star Wars #4. This means the first Star Wars extended universe story appeared 2 months before the adaption of the film concluded in Star Wars #6 and before most had even seen the film! https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=pizzazz+cgc&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1 All went today. Regardless of what was said in the ASM194 thread, posting in this forum can affect the market. Pizzazz #1 can simply not get any hotter as it completely sold out! Unlike ASM 194 where there over 3 Dozen CGC graded currently on eBay <sarcasm> yeah that books "rare" </sarcasm> My post here may have contributed to book sales jump to light speed: I do wish I had thought to purchase one of the 9.6's on eBay before I made my posts :sigh As Jackie Gleason said "I've got a [opens mouth wide] BIG MOUTH!".
  17. I've been around a while and although slab fraud exists at least on the rare occasion when I've seen it it's been evident although perhaps not to those new to the hobby. Please note I buy book, not the slab label, whereas most who've joined the hobby the last decade do not. Thus I do not foresee a situation where those like myself fall victim.
  18. No offense but its a rather bad idea. Bronze/Copper would be priced higher and Modern would remain least expensive. I really do not think it would ever fly to charge higher for modern than Bronze/Copper. The only way to stop flow is was PSA did and that is to remove all but express and walk through for at least 1/2 a year if not longer. However Venture Capitalists do not want to consider that. The goal of a Venture Capitalist is to squeeze as much out of a purchase as immediately as possible. Just like with an orange after nothing but an all wrung-out rind remains, they move on the next one. Retaining Customers for business down the road is not part of their process. While there are few rare exceptions no Venture Capitalist has ever left a firm stronger when they pull out than it was prior to them taking over.
  19. Pizzazz #1 ? I see that today, likley due to that thread copies on eBay are quickly drying up. The reason I mention is that folks have pointed out to me that topics here do not affect the Market, well I postulate to them that on low population books that perhaps posts here do influence the market.
  20. Yw, I was wrong however and have edited my initial post. Please re-read this topic
  21. Question: How can we go about having CGC recognizing and correcting persistent wrong data on slab labels? Pizzazz 1 is the very first 1st Star Wars extended universe story! Yet Star Wars 7 incorrectly has the notation not Pizzazz 1 Pizzazz 1 (cover date Oct 1977 on-sale June 1977) was on sale full 4 months prior to Star Wars #7 (Cover dated 1/78 on sale Oct 1977). The story was by Roy Thomas and the art by Howard Chaykin and Dezuniga inks Blank Panther 14 (1979) is Bill Sienkiewicz's first published cover. For unknown reasons CGC shows cover artist as Jerry Bingham??? who did the interiors. Bingham never drew even a single 1970's Marvel cover. An artist of Sienkiewicz's stature more than deserves to have his first cover properly mentioned. Same as Byrne, McFarlane, Perez, Miller, Jim Lee, etc have their 1st cover's noted.
