  1. This thread really took a horrific turn over the last page... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the long gone Comicart-L boards there was a quote; "No Comic Book Art Is Worth Your Dignity". While I have zero recollection of who posted that, it has stuck in my head all these years. Thus I will never deal for example with the Bollocks from Boston or Sewage from San Mateo
  2. I'm a huge fan of the USPS - no kidding, however last few weeks I've had similar happen to me 3 times. Makes me think it's being done for rea$on$ even if we don't know them.... I will say that twice I managed to contact the distant locations (there were both small post offices) while my parcels were on their premises and both times they added overnight labels and I had next day. Still I'm becoming very concerned as for me FEDEX and UPS are even more horrid thus no viable fall back carrier for my location.
  3. Per THR, Madame Web has kicked off with one of the worst ever opening weekends for a new film based on Marvel Comics characters. Ahead of the release, it was looking clear that the film was in trouble, as advance ticket sales were not very strong. Reportedly, an insider for an unnamed major theatrical chain spoke about how many of the advance ticket sales could actually be seen dwindling in real time as film goers were requesting refunds as late as Wednesday, the midweek opening day for Madame Web.
  4. Appears the budget was actually over 100MM https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/madame-web-bomb-killed-sony-franchise-1235829471/ Sony has to be laundering money there really is no other logical explanation.
  5. Its tantamount to Certified Collectibles Group flipping the double-bird to all who purchase their wares. AKA, CGC stating "we're rubber, your glue"
  6. Mid Jan - Early Feb is Bonus Season in most large Corporations.
  7. those are the Moe Ron's who love to use the cliched "I don't trust reviewers" or similar tripe. The same F00Ls who then are upset they wasted 2 hours and some coin on dreck... Probably easy to write fast when you don't need to worry about things like plot, character development, or coherent dialog.
  8. Heads need to roll at Sony for yet another disaster, a disaster that most any id10t predicted from the day Madame Web was announced. P.S. Those still sitting on piles of Peter Parker 24 clinging to hope a "Hypno Hustler" film will be made..well it wont be! Unless of course Sony converts their business model to a full time money laundering organization!
  9. If Gunn needs to cast a "Power Girl"
  10. Sony and I will each make the same amount of money on Madame Web, which is Zero. Well actually I will be making $0.00, they will be losing at least $40,000,000. Therefore I did significantly better than they did
  11. USSR actually had less rhetoric and far greater truth telling capabililty than the dude from Boston and the San Mateo bros for example.
  12. Agreed, with a caveat and that is CGC is partially and provably to blame. Not sure how well that will play to a Jury...
  13. Probably nothing in place to stop it but it would be wrong to do that. As well as probably not get the correct eyeballs on it.
  14. Was referring to the rubes buying the stuff
  15. It could be become a meme or trope on how to dump a significant other - simply tell them you have 2 tickets to see Madame Web
  16. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. -Albert Einstein
  17. Sort of eliminates all need for ANY Grading Service. Total agreement! In 2024 buying CGC slabbed comic/magazine carries significantly greater risk than purchasing raw. To expand on that the same too applies to Trading Cards , Video Games and VHS Tapes (absurd to begin with). CGC's latest message in effect is diametrically opposed to their very business model - go figure!
  18. CGC's (IMHO totally weak) message is purchase from "reputable" dealers. Keep in mind lack of reputable dealers is one of the reasons CGC was formed in the first place. To have their slabs level playing field for buyers and expand the hobby via that trust According to CGC's newest message any dealer who has sold or every might unknowingly sell a tainted or "counterfeited" or tampered slab is not reputable. Which means every Major Comic Seller or Auctioneer like ComicLink, ComicConnect, Worldwide Comics, Doug Sulipa, Victory Comics, Greg Reece, Heritage, etc are not or at some future juncture will not be considered reputable by CGC. If I was any of those entities I'd be rather unhappy with CGC BTW the scammer was considered a reputable dealer by CGC until the scheme unraveled! Therefore purchasing from "reputable dealers" is NOT a solution and not safe and it never ever will be!
  19. @COMICLINK Not that CGC has singled you out but in effect they are officially informing your potential customers that anyone who has sold a tainted book is not reputable. Therefore by transitive property you are not reputable! BTW, it's 2024 now, your not providing back scans by default and higher resolution scans is not helping things... @mycomicshop Same applies to you. Except for the scan part. Actually CGC's message applies to ever seller! It's not exactly a positive your business models @gregreece @HighGradeComics
  20. I do agree with you but my comment about purchasing slabbed carrying greater risk than raw totally applies. Certainly not an endorsement or selling point for any grading company! Myself since scandal hit have suspended any CGC slab purchase above $300, I am contemplating lowering that threshold to $200 shortly. Oh well at least eliminating the slab purchases does boost my Original Art "war chest"
  21. CCG strongly advises prospective buyers to do their research and buy from reputable sources. CGC offers the free Verify CGC Certification tool on its websites to help collectors and dealers verify CGC-certified collectibles. In addition, collectors can use the CGC Dealer Locator to find CGC Authorized Dealers. In effect purchasing a slabbed book now requires significantly more effort & carries greater risk than purchasing raw. So much for one of the main reasons CGC was born in the first place.
