We will know in next 7 hours if my first prediction is correct! You are correct about the $ involved which is why saying or doing nothing is to their benefit. Ignoring is the only option in which they do not have fork over any cash to anyone for any reason. Keep in mind for their Parent Company CGC is merely a pump and dump, they have no concern with CGC's future only the money coming in today.

Fish in Barrel Predictions: 1) ZERO Response From CGC today - Hey @VintageComics the Parent Company does not care about optics and certainly not about supplying a response before this or any holiday weekend. 2) ZERO Response From CGC EVER regarding this situation - letting it all fizzle out organically represents a tried and true playbook. 3) CGC will do nothing and change nothing with their slabs unless they find a way to increase the Newton Ring occurrences. 4) CGC Apologists will down play everything 5) Peeps will continue to submit comics to CGC unabated 6) Many more will be swindled by this Comic Seller/Dealer who knows how simple it is to exploit CGC process! 7) Other Comic Sellers/Dealers will attempt (and most will succeed) to duplicate the scam - they are Comic Dealers after all! The only item on above list CGC is concerned with in any manner whatsoever is #5 Unlikely Prediction: eBay if they see sales trend down in the Graded Comics category as they did with Trading Cards will institute a protection program for slabbed books over a certain dollar amount. - Who will verify them ? As they already slipped through CGC, it can and will occur again. - Unlike trading cards in theory they need to be cracked out and verified for completeness. Which is what CGC was paid to do in the first place and often fails at. If I'm wrong my bold-ed predictions then great, however pretty low odds of that....

Kind of proves no regular issue 1980s DC or Marvel is actually rare, just lower printed in relation to the bigger sellers.
-
I wonder if DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #20 (Dark Mansions) is the single most rare regular issued DC of the 1980's?

^ . Those later Best of DC's from 1985-1986 are not easy to find. I'd be OK with 9.6 on 68 , but 9.4 is highest currently

@ThothAmon , Only kidding of course. My copy was the result of Vane's diligent efforts. I'm happy to be it's current caretaker but all the kudos belong to him.

yep. They will follow their tried, true and only playbook; 1) Say Nothing 2) Do Nothing. 3) Take in money hand-over fist knowing even those chattering in this very thread will continue to submit. Don't expect any comment from Mike or anyone else in this thread. I'd suspect they have been told allow topic to continue until it fizzles out, which it will.

They (kind of/sort of/pretty much) have with above $250 trading cards for 2 years now. Although at time they instituted their new process and policy for those, as I understand it, cards were the single largest sales category on their platform. Interestingly enough CGC is an authenticity partner of eBay's https://pages.ebay.com/authenticity-guarantee-tradingcards-seller/

Will my gradings suffer if the comics are signed?
MAY1979 replied to Popop's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Qualified Label (Green) A Qualified label is used by CGC for collectibles that have a significant defect that needs specific description, or to note an unauthenticated signature (one which was not witnessed by CGC). For example, a comic book with a missing coupon that otherwise grades 6.0 will receive a Qualified grade, avoiding a considerably lower grade. CGC would give this book a Qualified grade of 6.0 and a Label Text notation “COUPON MISSING FROM PAGE 10, DOES NOT AFFECT STORY.” Or, if the book is signed on the cover it may be noted as “NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER.” For most a green label like a purple label is the Kiss Of Death. Some folks however don't seem to care about a green label all that much - usually the submitter
