  1. Current methodology on 1975-Current being followed is allegedly; deny, deny, deny / damage, damage, damage / say it's normal, normal, normal. The middle is the most concerning as it clearly is in effect only to prove the latter which of course is being done to prove the former. Hope it's not a book with deep personal connection or too rare or valuable for you to replace. However if is either a Vintage book or 1975-Present and was sent in via a major influencer and submitter like Joey, then in all likelihood it will be just fine.
  2. As was stated here by another member - my apologies to them as I cant seem to find the post - having 9.0 and 9.2 books in 9.6 or 9.8 holders is what rendered PGX totally irrelevant. History is littered with mentions of those previously considered "too big to fail" or "unsinkable" or "undefeatable". Do we have a potential fresh Oreo coming next year to replace our crumbling Hydrox ?
  3. I like your statement more than my own I have now struck-through the consignment part in it. Only folks less trustworthy than a Comic Book Dealer are Trading Card and Original Art Dealers.
  4. Do the color breaking ticks magically heal themselves as well ??
  5. Agreed. However, in 2024 why would someone with knowledge of the hobby, who's not in the throes of withdrawal and needs a quick fix, ever sell to a dealer? Consign sure, sell nopes!
  6. Which artist on the Korvac Saga page?
  7. Perhaps harsh on my part but based on what I see here in the Comics General Section, thief sellers are closer to the norm than the exception
  8. ^ You're more likely to get an honest answer from a local politician than a Comic Book Dealer.
  9. Wealthy Exec's need them bonus'. 20-24 months is what is required for the resume to get while the gettin' is good. See it all the time in my firm which is in the Fortune 15. Execs who stay around for greater than 4 years are outliers, 2 years is the norm. Blackstone is 464 so my guess is it's a testing for many resume padders "on the rise"
  10. ^ Translation; they see no books with an issue, as banana concaving is the new "normal". These Aren't the Droids Your Looking For
  11. Is it fair to say beyond damaging Comics, that CGC has crushed your dream? A powerful statement. What you have opined is tantamount at minimum to malice and willful (or reckless or wanton) negligence from CGC. The question to that is; who benefits? Certainly not the Product nor Customers, but most assuredly the division's short-term bottom line!
  12. Sadly this is becoming the standard narrative. Not only Comics are being damaged but memories are being destroyed as well as hobby interest.
  13. You submit a few thousand books per year yet seemingly your business means nothing to CGC. JoeyPost who is huge submitter and influencer has alluded to not being affected thus logically wont be taking up the fight. Then factor what is going on in the "current turn around rates at CGC" thread in General, folks there seem blissfully unaware of the issue or if they do then perhaps cognitive dissonance As long as the subs keep a comin' it will be a very long time before anything is done. Those who desire the issue to be resolved so they can submit again need to realize at current point in time CGC is "stating no issue exists" and "it's normal", therefore change simply ain't on the horizon. A seismic shift has occurred for those who sell slabs. LordRahl, @Palm Beach Presser if not already in progress, you may want to begin creating a new business model. Collectors need to adapt as well. I seek out only older slabs, and am going after Original Art and Pre-World War I (yes 1) baseball cards. As well as more business to eGerber, Bill Cole (the new clear Mylar backing boards) , and BCW for supplies to nicely "display" my raw's and keep them flat.
  14. Sort of how AIDS "cured" Herpes , in terms of public perception
  15. ^ I think you have the bags confused with celluloid
  16. ^ kudos on being someone who has kept up confidence/trust positivity. That type of outlook is truly a recipe for a longer lifespan. Hope your books are ones the law was able to recover
  17. He was a comic book seller, no way he can run longer than 4-6 seconds without being totally winded or having a full fledged MI.
  18. Merchants generally only win 20-30% of chargeback disputes. Yes u can be banned by a merchant if dispute filed is fraudulent. For legit claims its a tad hazy but short answer is Yes they can. In more case than not for a merchant like CGC, banning someone will result in significant loss of likely future revenue compared to drop in the ocean for them amount of the chargeback. It just bad business plain and simple over a single dispute. Well run businesses never react emotionally they react according to an actuarial type of calculation.
  19. What were they going for prior? AF seems niche to me.
  20. I guess it's possible? I've no idea sure if its legal on those grounds in the US or even a breach of contract with MasterCard and Visa?
  21. it wont make up for you items that were damaged, but why should you or anyone have to pay for said damage? via a dispute/chargeback with you credit card issuer you may be able to get a tiny modicum of satisfaction.
