  1. I have all my DPS' in large top loaders going on near 20 years for some. No issues , but i do replace the loaders every few years. Also i join 2 art size acid free fullbacks together and place behind the art. Ordered a huge amount of those custom cut boards 12 years back from gerber. All my non double page art is in mylar w/fullbacks or myler inserted into portfolio sleeves.
  2. PSA. In addition many now believe that PSA doles out their highest grades according to existing census percentages and based on the submitter (large customers get true grade of cards when the highest grades are merited). True or not I don't know, but based on their past shenanigans it falls squarely into plausible territory.
  3. I'm thinking at best it takes in less than half of Black Atom. There are huge amounts of folks, at least in the US, who do not want to pay to see a film with it's current Deee Baaag lead. Count me as as one of them.
  4. I never liked The Dark Knight Returns story or art. As kid in my LCS back in 1986 I kept that entirely to myself. BTW: Still don't like it.
  5. Not a monopoly is correct. Also correct is they have no true competition. CBCS may have their defenders, but from what i see at auctions they also have very few buyers.
  6. Due to changes in US tax code in 2017/2018 large refunds are thing of the past for most. Most (NOT ALL) of what would have been in those refunds results in a few extra dollars per paycheck. Reason I mention that is most folks in the US are no longer receiving a large "windfall" every spring. This has affected many sectors, like home improvements, not just collectibles. In order for there to be a turn-around in the time frame you mentioned would mean the economy got very well, very fast. A huge reason for celebration - except it ain't going to occur in just a handful of months. By Spring 2023 many will be glad just to be employed. There will always be hot books and outliers, but the days of almost all books being hot are gone for at least a decade. It took longer than that after the 90's bust and new book sales never recovered. Sellers who have actual business acumen will adapt and be OK but those thinking they can get bubble highs again for all their precious comics are in for pain. Sellers - steady cash flow is a basic business pillar. You can't have that if your sales are low due to high prices.
  7. I found the Movie to be fast paced and entertaining. Probably too fast paced though.... Lacked substance, almost non-existent plot. So while entertaining it was fleeting not leaving me at least wanting more. P.S. was nice seeing Dr Fate and Hawkman on the big screen. Now if we could get a JSA feature film with the Spectre!
  8. During bad times "Fool Me one Shame on you, Fool me twice"... applies to many who would have been tricked again and again during whilst a bubble exists. As much as I like the Sandman covers, many don't and they probably hinder sales P.S. Also it's DC Never speculate on DC, outliers and exceptions are few and far.
  9. gift 100 of them to the hacks at GoC0llect and they will hype the book to the max. Then their many sheep will buy them all up and may make you wealthy on your remaining 400 copies, or not.
  10. Exceptions and outliers not withstanding, at some point next year we'll look back and in retrospect Nov 2022 will seem like a seller's market for Comics and Trading Cards. The scraps the Bear has been getting thus far will not sate its hunger, only fuel it. You ain't seen nothin' yet Baby, you just ain't seen n-n-n-nothin' yet - Randy Bachman
  11. Very tiny supplies on both in 9.8. One year ago they might have hammered at 3x-4x those amounts
  12. "holding quite well compared to most other books from its era" examples please
  13. Even a "rare" Stan Lee sig could not keep it above 7,651. My guess is in 6 months if same book put up for sale again will be lucky to legitimately get 6.5K. Possibly yes in the next 8 months. 9.4's and lower have least "protection" from greatly diminished demand. Still this huge high census population book has defied logic in past. My recommendation is set a number you are willing to pay and it it sinks to that amount then buy. Timing the absolute bottom price IMHO is merely luck and seldom occurs for most.
  14. 2.7k is ow/w however also a newsstand, the past 2 years newsstand did neutralized ow/w compared to w, but no longer on this book. ASM194 fraying at the seems is underway. There will be blips and dead (Black) Cat bounces but its 10-16 month march down to 2-2.2K is in progress. If not for the pandemic bubble is probably where it should have been all along. Most certainly not at 5K which the first post in this thread gleefully celebrated.
  15. Actually I purchased more DC's than Marvel in that time frame, but virtually only Marvel and Indies I've submitted for grading. Maybe in the future I will sub more 1984-1986 DC's?
  16. Wasn't that young in 1984, but close. Still after going through my books in 2021 my estimated 9.8 hit rate is under 50% until around 1986/1987 then it jumped. Small Color rubs did not bother me and to CGC at least currently seem to be greater penalty than what I consider more serious maladies. The reason for the 252 9.6 is a small color rub on top back right cover.
  17. All purchased new by me as child. Although I was young, Dec 1983/Jan 1984 is when I first started to examine spines closely upon purchasing as my collector's OCD first took hold. A year earlier is when i learning condition mattered but I really only looked at surface and edges. Wraps however unless really bad were not something that concerned me very much, like CGC I sought technical condition. Yet with trading cards I had to have 50/50 centering - go figure... I'll limit it to a few of the oldest as most of my slabbed collection was purchased off the rack then self-submitted.
  18. I find social media to be a soul sucking void of meaningless affirmation Quote is from 1st epi of Wednesday, in a 12 word quote Gough and Millar summed up my feelings of the last 15 years on the subject.
  19. There is no good shipping service. In my experience FEDEX is the WORST of the WORST! USPS is best of the weak lot and UPS is usually pretty bad. In 20 years at my current address - yes I've kept careful count: - 1 lost USPS package, 1 damaged (due to shippers cheapness) - 17 lost Fedex package, 12 damaged - 4 lost UPS packages, 15 damaged - DHL when they used to do home in my area 0 lost , 0 damaged Thing about USPS is you can go down to your Local Post Office talk with the postmaster and get things done. UPS and FEDEX and if you are really lucky they toss a few platitudes at you. Blackstone HOWEVER has invested Fi$cal stake in FEDEX. Nothing more important to Blackstone than padding their Executive Bonus`
  20. I may be wrong but I think the "key" .65 Super-Hero book is Web of Spider-Man 1 My childhood copy (1 of 3) back recently from CGC.
  21. I'd take 8.5 Blue Label over a 9.8 Purple any time However on a post 1975 book I really do not want either While I am a 9.8 collector some of my favorite all-time slabs are 9.2's,9.4's and 9.6's I purchased raw at cons and LCS' when i was kid and submitted to CGC myself. Several of them are in my current signature.
