  1. It's how it's still done at 130point, but is GPA currently paying eBay for that API call to do so? They may have in past, but question is it still the case?
  2. Those are very extreme - wow. 10-40% I feel is fair depending on item and initial price if seller has "make offer". I offered $225 on a $240 fixed priced item that seller had enabled "make offer" last week and was declined. So no shortage of d-bagery on either side of fence. One thing to keep in mind; Given the economy and what will be coming today's perceived low ball might be tomorrows very fair offer.
  3. More from the joke submission mentioned in my last post, all recently back after more than a year. Same story and nostalgic memories for me as the Metal Men 1, All were .20cents each.
  4. Out of pure Nostalgia this book was part of a joke submission. When I was a kid back in 1988/89 my LCS got in a lower grade collection of Silver Age. Most went into the quarter bins. For me at any rate it was like a treasure chest finding cover intact reader copies. I grabbed so many that I got them 5 for $1. When I saw the Metal Men issue without the number on cover I opened the cover to reveal #1 in the indicia and was overjoyed. It was also one of the nicer condition books in the bin. Here is my .20 cent copy of Metal Men #1, while I'm a high grade collector overall the memories are often just as important to me as condition.
  5. #57 is brutally difficult. Had for 25 years what I thought was a 9.2-9.4 candidate and I've been told I'm an ultra harsh grader. I submitted it early this year and it came back a 6.5. Unlike Marvel most 60's DC is NOT plentiful in higher grades and much of the higher end stuff is locked up in private collections. To the OP if you desire a realistic chance of finishing during your lifespan, consider lowering your minimum grade requirement. P.S. Please ignore my sig for this post
  6. My guess is the next time new buyers enter the hobby en masse will be a decade MINIMUM. In order for prices to jump and jump if not down right sublimate the way they did in the pandemic bubble a large infusion of new blood is required. That occurred in the early 90's and then again from 2020-very early 2022. To think it will happen again in the short or mid term is simply not realistic. Those with true business acumen don't need bubbles to do well. Cash flow is king, sitting on merch desperately waiting and wanting to get full bubble prices again is sub optimal strategy. Of course real business folks know all this already.
  7. Back after 54 weeks in Econ queue! Really though it would score be 9.8, nicked for some alleged tanning. As with what I estimate to be 75-80% of Oakland's the book does not have white pages. Love the Steranko-esque cover by Barry Smith. A 1998 $30 purchase from Vinny.
  8. Hmm another grey haired white guy. Just like the other thief recently caught. Let's see another older White Guy committing a non-violent crime of stealing 'funny books" means nothing more than the most minor repercussions. Look out at cons he's probably back at it already.
  9. Outlier! Makes total sense; hardcore cult following and 9.8 census pop is 1. If there were say 10 of these in 9.8 it woudl be lucky to sniff 1/5 or 1/6 of that hammer price. Pop's in 9.0 and above are so tiny their simply won't be enough volume of sales for this book to actually be hot but as long as they stay that low when they do come up for sale they will do well. Book is pretty much definition of an outlier. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 1. Astro Boy 1 (8/65, Gold Key) 1st appearance of Astro Boy. Only issue. Back cover pin-up. Universal 94 6.96 1 5 9 6 9 8 6 7 2 4 4 7 7 5 7 4 1 1 1
  10. Seriously DC Comics on Superhero front goes back to 1938 the best they can pull from that rich tapestry is Mxyzptlk? LMAO! Gunn's tenure will be short if he thinks any portrayal of Mxyzptlk will put them even in the same conversation as Marvel films. If Gunn is a smart as folks think Mxyzptlk will only be used as miss-direct to keep the real stuff secret for as long as possible from the public. Even then a smarter re-direct would be for a villain who the public might want to see. Guess we will see.
  11. ASM300 you needed cooling Baby I'm not fooling I'm gonna send ya Back to schooling To be fair ow/w on a 1988 book probably kept many bidders away likely lowering the final price by 15-20%. However earlier this year and certainly last it still would have approached 5K
  12. from gocollect - yeah uhm, that's a pass. Tuck and Co and now trying to hype Mxyzptlk and Granny Goodness. Based on what I see last few months in their postings/blogings is they were only looking good during the bubble because everything was looking good in the bubble. Even during the bubble low rent DC characters went nowhere. Perhaps they'll be hyping bug-eye bandit next week. BTW if Mxyzptlk is the plan (LMFAO) for the next MOS then Zaslav may just want to cancel the film now.
  13. ^ With rare exceptions I do not like custom labels and many others feel same way. The wrap I feel is pretty decent but some feel very strongly about a perfect one which probably also held back some bids. Thing is earlier this year it still would have hit 4.5K regardless. I still expect something in the way of dead cat bounces (get it ) but I think on the whole new lows will continue to be tested for at least the next year. Those looking to pick up a 9.6 may be in very good shape in the short and mid-term,with longer term also being possible, as those prices drop.
  14. I'm all for decades but only if originally on-sale date, not cover dates, are used
  15. Seeing that label now for the first time it would look nice on SW8 and ASM252 also possibly Peter Parker 90 or MTU 141 as it fits in with the issue content. For pretty much any other book that custom would be an avoid
  16. A wise move. The more wise move would be to wait 2-6 months and purchase 7-8 for 4k. While this issue has not suffered as badly as others the question to ask is that due to it being "bedrock" or is "delayed effect". My guess is closer to latter than former.
  17. Bump to see if any new info on a Mylar solution for CGC Mags is known. Thanks
  18. The only custom label I thought has ever looked decent is the Hobgoblin #238 riff. However to my eyes it works on only that 1 single book. Its the sole custom label in my collection and I do not foresee that ever changing. If a slab has a custom label i don't consider it a option for purchase and will wait for one with the normal label.
