  1. ^ Sad story working hard is seldom as fiscally rewarding as working smart and being lucky
  2. Predictably not much action last 2 months as flippers-dealers-speculators are too scared to offer 9.8's at regular auction. Instead they cling to cognitive dissonance and are asking near bubble high Buy-It-Now prices. Sooner or later more will be auctioned and except for outliers (probably in form of manipulative shilling) downward trend will commence. One thing is clear the book does not have "unlimited upwards trajectory" and most of the rubes who were stung buying it for ~5k may be less willing to get burned again? I do wonder which is more likley one year from now 5K or 2.5K? My bet is much closer to the latter. Still decent if purchased years back although less so with inflation but if one's intention was to sell not hold then window is closed on largest ROI's
  3. Spider-Man sneaks onto a DC back cover. $23.95 in 1978 = approx $109 in 2022
  4. Anyone buying the book at even 1k was sheep ready to be fleeced, at 2k a total rube, 3k+ someone with far too many dollars than sense, and that being the case they probably don't even miss the dough. "unlimited upward trajectory" - if anyone ever tells you that not just on comics but anything run for the hills. I'm a Kirby fan but IMHO his and every other version of the Eternal's was a boring uninteresting trudge through sludge labor to read and the film even more so to watch. I'll be happy if Feige never puts them or that lame-o Black Knight on anything again.
  5. Appears after the mid 70's nearly only time Namor appeared was as Guest/Guest Villain/Foil. After Invaders ended except for small handful of Defenders issues that's all he did until the late 1980's
  6. So the title of this thread you created is not accurate?
  7. Yep and are more prone to do so than in normal storage. Unless you are in dry climate make sure to use and regularly replace or refresh/recharge desiccant in your safe.
  8. Please do not take offense at my being direct and to the point; Glib Hyperbolic Social Media Text Bites for Description and Set Goals historically is not sought after criteria for a CGC Registry award. Your text (image in your case) shows zero actual love of Comics, merely callous shallow twitter type style lacking all substance. IMHO you need to completely re-architect what you have to come from the heart. Apologies for my bluntness. BTW: I'm not very good extracting my thoughts or feelings to my writings. One of the reasons a custom sets like mine will never win anything. https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/WCM/ComicCustomSetView.aspx?s=25412
  9. HUGE amount of manual effort. The value of each book is not relevant as the labor on each is the same amount of time. Seems like a 2-3 person job at $30-$50 per hour. Not worth it unless Silver Age or older books. Bronze and Copper only if they are overall high grade. For the amount of time it will take one person to do the job correctly I'd walk away from it. Juice simply ain't worth the squeeze. Again unless books are Silver or older or high grade Bronze.
  10. Agreed. The % of price drop on non or very minor keys should be even more precipitous. Low census pop run issue battles by registry collectors not withstanding.
  11. Back and fixed, census too. Now to see about having registry updated.
  12. Back Cover of Battlestar #3 appropriately enough
  13. Yep! Then then the newsstand and direct sale blocks matched. An apropos example for this thread:
  14. Here is a slightly wider-screen version from the back of a Pizzazz
  15. Agreed but i have more knowledge in that arena so may refer to it at times
  16. IMHO still a ways to drop, but think the bottom will be higher than 2500. Still hope remains it will negatively breach that amount.
  17. This were gone for only a month so really never started to "miss" it Not pressed!
  18. Self-Submitted Nam #4 I purchased as child. I stupidly broke my self imposed submission ban due to poor QC at CGC to drop off a small pile at NYCC. Wish I had not made the exception as I've had to spend quite a while using plastx to remove or lighten scuffs on the slabs - not all were treatable and so sick&tired having to do ME returns on every order I receive back. While CGC now ships with much thicker bags they don't help if the damage is done before the slabs are inserted. At least the grades in the order were nearly exactly as i predicted. Now to make my CGC submission ban zero-tolerance Have liked green background on this cover since the first moment I saw the book.
  19. IMHO from these pics I see Heavy Moderate on Back, light Moderate on front
