People can do what they want. I see comics as carrying too much long-term risk to be a safe investment because I don't think that demographics favor the growth of the hobby over the long haul. I think that demand could go down as the Boomers and Gen-Xers age out of the hobby. Still, I'm sure it could be a good way to invest if you have a knack for picking the right books and selling them at the right time. I wouldn't recommend dumping everything you have into comics and holding them for thirty years. Guys could get away with that thirty years ago because the Boomers and Gen-Xers who dominated the hobby then and still dominate it now have seen their wealth and discretionary income increase dramatically during that time period. Because of that scenario, virtually everything has gone up in value exponentially.

The same thing could happen with Millenials and Zoomers, but I don't think that those generations will ever participate in the hobby at the same level as the Boomers and Gen-Xers. We older guys who grew up riding our bikes to the corner store to buy comic books off of the spinner racks carry a passion for the hobby that few of the younger guys will share—note that I didn't say none, I said few. There will continue to be passionate collectors, but I don't think that there will be enough of them to sustain the sort of prices that we see today.

As a gen X'er I can get behind this theory. I myself have drastically cut back on purchases and even sold off a good amount of books as of late.

Like the example posted above, I think it should be pretty obvious that similar to the Heritage auctions, the bids DURING and prior to the end of the auctions are the hammer bids only and DO NOT include the 15% BP juice and 20% BP juice in the case of the Heritage lots.  :gossip:

After the auctions are over, the winning bids for BOTH HA and CC do include the BP juice as you really cannot bid by anything less than whole dollars:  (thumbsu

All you need to do is to simply divide the posted winning bid of $1,726.15 by 1.15 to come up with the winning hammer bid of $1,501 for this copy of Funny Pages 7.   Not sure why you would need to know the intermediate hammer bid though since it really doesn't mean much after the auction is over.  hm  (shrug)

jeepers! I just wanted to know what the books were going for in the end. Tough crowd (shrug)

  3. attempted to submit just now....."Your order cannot be submitted at this time. Please try again later."

ugh! never mind, just checked packing slips and now it shows multiple orders of the times attempted to submit...4 in total. oh well, at least it technically worked

Heritage sends a check 45 days after the auction ends like clockwork.  They list my stuff ASAP.  This just isn't true.

Relax Francis, results may vary from person to person. Read carefully....if u submit signature auction books and that action isn't for say 4 months, and payout isn't for roughly 45 days as u say, in my book, thats nearly 6 months. you must be selling low end Sunday auction funny books

Question too. Any of you ever see a copy of the sampler edition of Doctor Weird? Predates issue #1  produced without a number or date, held with a single staple.
