  1. Is it just me or did others notice the Curt Swan covers were quite affordable this auction?
  2. Hi, all; I've consigned some great Al Williamson art ending Saturday, Mar 7th on Heritage. The pieces are as follows: Secret Agent Corrigan Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-1-69 - Phil and his wife, Wilda enjoy some rare downtime together at the beach. Wilda rarely made appearances in the strip, and this one is on larger size board. Current high bid is only $220. Here's the direct link to the auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/al-williamson-secret-agent-corrigan-daily-comic-strip-original-art-dated-9-1-69-king-features-syndicate-1969-/a/7224-95399.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Secret Agent Corrigan Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-18-71 - Phil trapped in a cave as a mountain collapses around him! Very rare 2-panel strip with great anatomy. Again, on larger size board. Current high bid is $270. Here's the link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/al-williamson-secret-agent-corrigan-daily-comic-strip-original-art-dated-1-18-71-king-features-syndicate-/a/7224-95400.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-SearchResults-120115&lotPosition=9|0 Secret Agent Corrigan Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-25-79 - Brilliant 3-panel daily in which Phil finally corners his most nefarious enemy, Dr. Seven. The inking on this strip is particularly inspired! Current high bid is $310. Here's the link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/al-williamson-secret-agent-corrigan-daily-comic-strip-original-art-dated-5-25-79-king-features-syndicate-/a/7224-95401.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-SearchResults-120115&lotPosition=10|0 Thanks for looking, and good luck to all bidders
  3. Topsies = Whomever landed on the other's card got to keep the cards.
  4. I know reading is hard, so please re-read my post. I never said that nobody would care...I said probably not. and that's 30 years from now...two generation away from when guys like you and I grew up watching Jordan. How hot is an Henri Richard rookie card? Did it double or triple in the past couple of years? Exactly!
  5. Yup, knockdowns, topsides, and farsies...I remember those days very well.
  6. 30 years from now, will people care about Michael Jordan? Probably not. Will they care about Spiderman? you betcha!
  7. This is such an ill-formed question with so many potential areas for comparison. Perhaps you can re-phrase your question to be more specific?
  8. I trade Benjamin’s for art and vice versa. trading art for art is such a chore these days and requires far too much time and effort.
  9. This! I had to double check my memory when I saw Jim Valentino's name in this post. I knew that I recognized it from somewhere, but it took a while to make the connection with Image, and Shadowhawk, which is kind of odd considering I was the right age to embrace the launch of Image (still in school, but with a steady income from my part-time job, and few expenses to get in the way of my comics purchases). Personally, Valentino was the least familiar of the Image founders. I had no idea what he worked on previously, but since it wasn't Spidey/Hulk/X-Men, I suppose I didn't really seek out his work. Is he still a prominent figure in modern comics or do we classify him in the "where are they now" category
  10. Now you'll only have to wait two months instead of three, for HA big-ticket OA auctions...more data points per year for you!
  11. We must have been watching different auctions. I thought there were deals, and very few 'WOW' results.
  12. Yup, the OA portion of the Clink Winter Featured Auction ended last nite. Lots of lowlights, but here's some of the highlights: -Art Adams Xmen Ann #10 half-splash = $7.1K -Bachalo 1992 Death prelim illo for a t-shirt = $5.1K -Bermejo Joker p66 = $4K -Bolland Amazing Heroes #52 cover (Judge Dredd) = $17.25K -J Buscema Avengers #271p1 splash = $4.1K -S Buscema Defenders #37p1 splash = $5K -Byrne Wolverine #22 cover = $5.65K. Ouch! Not sure what's wrong with this cover but seems to be quite a bit of buyer's remorse given the number of times its exchanged hands: Jul 2012 = $3.3K; May 2014 = $5.7K; Nov 2016 = $7.2K; Aug 2019 = $7.8K -J Scott Campbell ASM 14 cover (Black Cat) = $7.6K -Ian Churchill Cable #35 cover (vs Apocalypse) = $5K -Cockrum UXmen #163p9 = $3.7K -Dillon Preacher 49p14 = $3.3K. Preacher battles God and loses an eye, and it sold for only $3.3K!!! -Rafael Grampa Detective Comics #50 cover = $6.6K. I don't collect modern art so I haven't come across this artists' work before...for those who know this artists' market, is this a strong result? -Heck TOS #52p11 = $10.4K. -Adam Hughes Catwoman #72 cover = $17.9K. Is this now the highest priced Adam Hughes cover? -Phil Jimenez Wonder Woman #137 cover = $1.5K. Absolutely stunning cover, and one of the biggest steals of this auction -Kirby FF Ann #2p17 = $13.3K. Bargain priced -Miller ASM 218 cover = $26,750. Strange looking cover...at first glance I like it, then I don't; I like it again, then I don't. -Romita ASM 365 cover = $46.4K. Love this cover, even though the original art area only measures 8x10. -Romita Jr ASM 40 complete 22p interiors = $14.5K. right around where it should be priced -Romita Jr ASM 55 complete 22p interiors = $4.6K. Seller lost his shirt -Mark Texeira Ghost Rider 16p20 = $3K. Yowza! -Trimpe Transformers #25 cover = $4.3K -Turner Action Comics #813 cover = $7.1k -Hidetsugu Yoshioka Transformers Submarauder box art = $3.5K

  14. Hi, All: Just a quick reminder these Romita Sig Series auctions are ending tonight. Good luck to all bidders!
  15. Agreed, writers received 2 pages per issues, however since the aforementioned policy was implemented by Roy Thomas, I believe the starting date was earlier, perhaps ‘73 or ‘74. jim Shooter also indicates this policy of art returns whereby the writer gets 2 pages per issue was instituted by Roy Thomas. http://jimshooter.com/2011/09/many-happy-returns-and-some-unhappy.html/
  16. Stephen, the comics gust list is starting to look a bit more interesting. where can I find a list of comic dealers for the show?
  17. HI, all; Another posting on behalf of a friend who consigned this Rick Leonardi ASM page to Comiclink's Winter Featured Auction.
