  1. This auction had some interesting final numbers, and from the artists/titles I usually keep track of, I think these are worth noting: Bagley Ultimate End #5p33 splash = 2.4K. Small image of Miles Morales version of Spidey swinging above the city skyline. Normally, I'd say this is $1K max...just wondering if someone has any insight as to whether there is something significant that drove up the prices? Bermejo Joker splash = 5.3K. Were we expecting this one to go higher? Its gorgeous and I believe someone on this thread suggested that it may crack $10K? Bright GL Emerald Dawn pages = $115-446 per page. Given the significance (at the time) of this storyline and the popularity of this series, I was expecting the nicer pages to hit $1K. Perhaps this is a forgotten storyline? J. Scott Campbell Vengence of Moon Knight #9 cover (with Spidey) = $6.1K. I will freely admit that I do not follow the JSC art market closely, but don't his new covers sell for $10K+? And if so, then this must be a painful result for the seller. Frank Cho Deadpool Gauntlet #1 cover = 2.6K. Whaaaaaat? A Frank Cho cover for $2.6K? Say it ain't so! That's gotta be below expectations any way you look at it. Cockrum X-Men 156p7 = 3.7K. Strong Wolverine content throughout the page for only $3.7K? Somebody got a sweet, sweet deal! Corben Fantagor #4 cover = 52K...there are no words Dillon JLA pages = various prices. Here we see the post-movie flop price reductions kicking in Romita Jr Wolverine #20 cover = 21.5K. I don't think anyone was expecting this result, but is it just me or does anyone else recall seeing this on CLINK or HA not too long ago for a much lower price? Or was that another JR Jr Wolverine cover? Also, where does this rank in terms of Romita Jr public sales prices? If I recall, the ASM 238 cover went for $110K, the ASM 239 cover went for just under $50K, the X-Men 191 cover was around $30K, the Ms Marvel 19 cover was $29K..were there others between 21K - $29K?
  2. Congrats to the winner of the Bagley Venom cover. What a steal!
  3. Auction ends tonight and some very cool art still super-affordable: - Ron Lim various Spiderman Pages, splashes, and artwork from other titles - Jim Aparo complete Batman issue - Sienkiewicz Moon Knight - Great Dave Sim Cerebus/Cirin battle page - Heath G.I. Combat double-page splash
  4. This. When I got out of comics in 2001 to focus more on collecting Original comic art, I knew several people within the greater Toronto area who owned a dozen or more copies of ASM 252. It was (then) still a very common book, and easy to find in very high grade. flash forward to 2019, and here I am dipping my toes back into collecting comics, seeking out ASM’s. Been looking for very high grade copies of ASM 252’s and the supply has dwindled substantially (at least locally), and the comic stores and local conventions have copies, but the raw ones are no better than a NM- 9.2, and there are a few slabbed ones in 9.4 for double guide, and I did see one slabbed in 9.8 with Stan Lee sig for $1.4k, but still, far less copies. ive noticed similar with ASM 238, and 239...I guess the copies became dispersed over the years, but folks still seem to think that collectors from back in the day are sitting on 10, 20, 50 copies, but the truth is, they aren’t, and this is reflected in rising prices for nice copies. i mean, ASM 238 ain’t as hot or as popular as ASM 238, but it continues to move upwards price-wise. and a nice ASM 252 in 9.8 will run you $700 these days which sounds kind of high for a book that many still perceive as ‘common’
  5. Hmm...just one day to go before the OA portion of the auction closes and barely any uptick in bids. This has been a vewy, vewy quiet auction. 😉
  6. Hi, all: I've got another great Aparo Brave and the Bold #170 page ending Sunday, Mar 4th on Heritage. 7. Today’s kids and teens don’t read, ‘cause reading is hard.
  8. Yes, and no. Sometimes more difficult depending on the value of a book. If the book is pricey, I know of many folks who will resubmit multiple times to get a 9.4 or 9.6 or 9.8, and I don’t believe the census takes that into consideration

  10. Definitely some Byrne large art Alpha Flight Pages our there. Also, anyone able to confirm if any Byrne large art Namor pages exist? I recall he was experimenting with various page sizes on that title?
  11. Yup, definitely C-level character. HOS 92 is a great cover, but there are others equally as nice from the same decade...WW 199 comes to mind, along with Batman 227, and some others from the Gothic/Romance titles, to name but a few. Yes, it happens to be tougher in high grade, I agree. Still, it has far lower demand than other books in the same price range and it is definitely overvalued. And while I believe you when you say that you would much rather have a high grade HOS92 than I GSXM1, I think you can agree to the fact that you are in the minority opinion.
  12. Hi, all: I've got another great Aparo Brave and the Bold #170 page ending today on Heritage. Here's the linky: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jim-aparo-the-brave-and-the-bold-170-story-page-12-original-art-dc-1981-/a/121908-15007.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Thanks for looking, and good luck to all bidders
  13. I can appreciate the scarcity of HOS 92 as much as anyone, but Swamp Thing is a C-level character and you are comparing its 1st appearance valuation against the 1st appearance of the modern X-Men, arguable the most popular title of the past 30+ years, and you’re telling me I’m wrong??? Lol 😂
  14. i Think many of the secondary and tertiary characters that have already appeared in Marvel movies have some overpriced 1st appearances: - 1st Ulton, Collector, etc i also think Sgt Fury 1 and Strange Tales #110 are overpriced, and likewise Luke Cage #1 for DC, house of Secrets 92, Action 252, NTT #1, any Kirby 1970’s #1
  15. I was offered $20K for it privately 5 or 6 years ago so based on those expectations, l am disappointed with the result. I took a risk, rolled the dice, and lost. Oh well, lesson learned.
  16. Somewhere between $50-100. Its just a rough head sketch, on small-ish size paper, with staining.
  17. Garcia Lopez is such an under-appreciated artist, and never gets the credit he is due, either on convention guest list billing or in the value of his artwork. A brilliant artist in every respect.
  18. A very interesting comment. Several years ago, I commented that John Buscema was one of the four pillars of the Silver Age Marvel Universe artists (the others being Ditko, Kirby, Romita Sr). I suppose tastes change over time and I no longer see John Buscema's work as I once did. I no longer wish to own a Buscema Conan cover as I once did, and I don't think about his artwork as much as I once did. Perhaps John Buscema artwork appreciation/valuation has also 'jumped the shark', similar to some extent, as that of BWS Conan and his other early artwork?
