  1. Well, you may not know them, Chris, but somebody did this on the Hulk 387 cover ... and won!!!
  2. Howdy, folks; I've consigned some nice art to Heritage auctions, ending Sunday Nov 18th. Here's what's up for grabs: Aparo Brave & the Bold #170 p1 title splash, featuring a very unique and memorable layout. Here's the linky to the auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jim-aparo-the-brave-and-the-bold-170-page-1-original-art-dc-1981-/a/121846-13004.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 David Finch Wonder Woman #48p12 (half splash) featuring Wonder Woman and Dr. Poison (yep, the villain from the WW movie) . https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/david-finch-and-scott-hanna-wonder-woman-48-story-page-12-original-art-dc-2016-/a/121846-13086.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 John Romita Jr Thor #25p23 featuring Thor and Firelord. On this page, Thor is battered and bruised and receives the enchanted belt of strength, Megingjord, which doubles his powers! The magical belt first made it's appearance in Journey into Mystery #91 in 1963 so its been around the Marvel Universe for some time. Here's the linky: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-jr-and--giordano-thor-25-story-page-26-original-art-marvel-2000-/a/121846-13233.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 John Romita Jr World War Hulk #1p23. Great page where a really, really, really angry Hulk returns to Earth in order to dish out some vengeance on those who exiled him. This page has appearances by Spidey, She-Hulk, Luke Cage, Doc Samson, Ms Marvel, and SHIELD. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-jr-and-klaus-janson-world-war-hulk-1-story-page-23-original-art-marvel-2007-/a/121846-13234.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-SearchResults-120115&lotPosition=2|0 Jose Luis Garcia Lopez DC Comics #4p2 featuring a nice beach scene to open the action in this issue, with a lovely bikini babe. Naturally, the fun times at the beach can't last, especially when Chemo is about to make his grand entrance and cause all sorts of trouble for Superman and the Metal Men. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jose-luis-garcia-lopez-dc-comics-presents-4-story-page-2-original-art-dc-1978-/a/121846-13094.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Thanks for looking, and good luck to all those who bid!
  3. final bump...ending today and current bid is still very much below FMV.
  4. Wonder if a boardie got it? Would love to know!
  5. BWS MCP cvr jumped significantly, same with Brunner HTD Splash!
  6. Perhaps, but last time I spoke with Lon, minimum value to qualify for Platinum nite =$10K. Granted, that was a year ago and it may have increased.
  7. Much like Kevin Costner in ‘Field of Dreams’, if you build it they will come. i see no reason why HA wouldn’t give this serious consideration in order to increase their consignments that would otherwise go to Clink, CC, eBay and others.
  8. Since HA is already providing Three-tiered consignment services (Platinum, Friday live auctioneer, Saturday online), they should charge accordingly. I mean, is it really fair for Saturday consignments to be dinged for the same fees as Platinum nite Auctions, which have their own added cost and live auctioneer? perhaps suggested consignment fees to sellers for Signature Series OA Auctions should be as follows: 1. Platinum nite = 20% 2. Friday live = 15% 3. Saturday = 10% the above would be a reflection of the decreasing service effort/cost for the consignments. Thoughts?
  9. I asked Stan who his favourite character was twice. The first time at a convention in the early 90’s here in Toronto and his response was the Silver Surfer. the second time was 4 or 5 years ago at the NYCC, and he again stated it was the Silver Surfer.
  10. Anything illustrated by Jack Kirby hurts my eyes and I can’t get into the book, no matter how much I’ve tried over the past 30 years to ‘get’ Kirby. Alas, his genius has escaped me...for now. Anything written by Alan Moore*, but especially Saga of the Swamp Thing and Watchmen. I picked them up when they were first published, just to see what all they hype was about Alan Moore, the first writer to make a book hot. I found both series to be unnecessarily verbose and, quite frankly, boring. several attempted readings in subsequent years have not altered my decision. *notable exceptions: From Hell, and the Killing Joke
  11. Johnny Quest (comico) Space Ghost (Comico) New Kids on th Block (Archie)
  12. Oh, I forgot to include Annie, and the Life of Pope John Paul II
  13. Ghostbusters Visionaries COPS Alien Predator Robocop MIB Dark Horse Presents #10 (1st appearance of the Masque/Mask --> Jim Carey movie)
  14. HI, all; I've consigned this incredible cover to the Nov 15-17 Heritage Comic Art auction. I have owned this cover for nearly 15 years, and all of the title logos and stats are original to the day the cover was printed. Nothing has been tampered with! Well, I did have Keown, Rubinstein, and David sign it The auction for this cover ends on Friday, Nov 16, and you can view it and place your bids directly with this link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/dale-keown-and-joe-rubinstein-incredible-hulk-387-cover-original-art-marvel-1991-/a/7192-93132.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  15. Sweet deal! I like the Spidey/Doc Ock much more than the Spidey 18 page on Heritage 👍🏻
  16. Forgot the name of it, but it was the one that Chuck Costas was involved with
  17. Just out of curiosity, what did the Ditko v Doc Ock 2/3 Splash go for at the UK sept auction?
  18. I am a small fish in a small pond of collectors (Canada) and not privy to the hushed estimates from the big pond, however, I am able to recognize aggressive pricing on these items, especially in comparison to Friday’s offerings. Quite frankly, i’ve no idea where the bidding will end on the aforementioned Platinum nite pieces, but time has shown these pre-auction estimates can be on the high side.
  19. Right? The Platinum nite stuff has already achieved aggressive prices on numerous pieces, and here’s a few more examples: - Gulacy MOKF 51 cvr = $19K - Cardy Batman 254 cvr = $20+K - Romita ASM 60 cvr = $150K however, the artwork ending on Friday’s live bidding is Stoopid-cheap. And yes, I know there’s nearly two weeks to go, but the vast majority of Friday’s offerings sit at 20-30% of FMV. havent even looked at the items closing on Saturday ... I suspect it’s even worse. 🙁
  20. For Platinum nite? Yup, agreed! for Fri and Sat Auctions, it’s more of a mixed bag with lots of stuff still very, very cheap.
