  4. ‘Only’ 631 OA lots in this auction vs 956 last time.
  5. I'd be happy to purchase all of the cgc 9.8 ASM 238's you have to offer.
  6. I may be wrong, but there was only one sale on Clink where a direct edition 9.8 hit $5K. I follow this book very closely and I don't recall seeing it hit the $5K peak more than once. There is a slim chance that I may have missed an auction due to being on vacation, but otherwise, I'm on top of this book. That being said, there was a 9.8 Canadian Price Variant that hit $7.8K in late 2020. I was going after it, but stopped bidding at just over $5K (which, coincidentally, would have been the record price for a CPV for this book), but it wasn't meant to be. FYI, the previous high was $4.65K So, based upon the empirical evidence, there are/were very few "rubes" who were "burned" to the "tune of 5-7.5K for the book". Furthermore, with the escalating prices on this book during covid, I would have thought several more CPV's in 9.8 would have appeared on the market to take advantage of the escalating prices, but this simply didn't happen. Goes to show how few 9.8 CPV's actually exist and are available for purchase. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the next time one appears with white pages, it will break the current $7.8K benchmark.
  7. Don’t get me wrong…I’m not attempting to justify the prices realized for the Two Secret Wars pages so much as I am thinking aloud about the availability of black costume Spidey pages potentially driving up prices
  8. Hi, folks. Like most of you, I've been using Paypal for many years, and I was OK with it. Recently, some transactions went awry and I'm wondering if Zelle and/or Venmo are better options with regard to seller protection, transaction fees, tax reporting, customer service, etc. I'd love to hear from you in order to make an informed decision going forward. Thanks in advance
  9. The book jumped the shark and its been slumping for the better part of 8 months, yet its still selling for 2.5-3x pre-covid prices for cgc 9.8 copies. I really like this book and I do hope prices continue to move downwards as I'd like to purchase another dozen or so copies.
  10. Shortly after ASM 252 was published, several fan polls were taken in various comics magazine publications that showed an approximate 50/50 split regarding the new black & white costume vs the old red & blue, and I assume that's carried over into OA collecting. However, given there are far less pages with the black & white costume, and given similar preference to one costume over the other, wouldn't pages with the black & white costume command higher prices than those with the red & blue? On a side note, congrats to the buyers of the Web of Spidey #1 pages at the last HA auction...I think you did well, and those pages still have a lot of room to grow.
  11. Is there a link to the October Motorcity show?
  12. I figured attendance would be lighter this year, likewise fewer key dealers in attendance for various reasons. The guest list was absolutely horrible and all of this is incredibly disappointing. I used to attend this show almost every year since 2000, and Goldman and co and had great dealers and an incredible guest list to entice the masses. In fact, this show once boasted the third highest attendance for comic shows and it’s just a shame to see it fall by the wayside. I hope they are able to recover and put on a better show next year!
  13. Interesting comments. I like Miller art, and while I agree this cover is iconic and it’s the one everyone remembers, I think part of the reason is because the covers to 2-4 are quite unimpressive (read: fugly) in comparison. Show your friends the cover to Killing Joke as a comparison and see which one your sports card buddies prefer
  14. Yup, Wild Bill Everett died at 55 due to effects of prolonged alcoholism and excessive smoking
  15. Saw a few pics and it looked as though attendance was light. usually, this is a good show to pick up a bunch of comics at fair prices so I’m just wondering if anyone can provide a few show highlights?
  16. You seem to be pushing clink stuff quite a bit across multiple threads are these your consignments? do you work for clink?
  17. Surprised nobody has mentioned Marshall Rogers yet. He passed away of a possible heart attack at the age of 57. on the other hand, in terms of long-lived artists, I don’t think anyone has mentioned Joe Giella. He will be 94 years young in June, and worked in comics until 2016!
  18. Not true at all. I think the Kirby splash you’ve shown is absolutely fugly, but I’ll take McFarlane’s exaggerated ‘mistakes’ any day of the week!
  19. I used to own 3 miller pages from this story. Tons of white - out, and nearly impossible to identify as Miller OA.
