  1. Don't sell yourself short, Sharon! You are well respected here. And software engineers may be notoriously bad at dealing with end users, but just appeal to their sense of order and precision and you might just persuade them. Seriously. They probably wear cesium wristwatches with femtosecond accuracy, and they're settling for 16th century sundial timekeeping for the boards?
  2. Why would they do that? Can't you turn on the charm and get that fixed?
  3. I think that there are parallels here with Ebay's "best offer". You make an offer to the seller, and the seller has 3 options. 1) He can reject it outright (or not respond, then the offer will expire in 48 hrs.) 2) He can make a counter offer. 3) He can accept the offer. In this case, your offer is binding, Ebay marks the item as sold. Time to pay. Clearly, Grantley made a genuine offer. Pablo responded by saying it was a "done deal" and provided his Paypal info. The only thing missing here is that no one bothered to tell anyone else about it.
  4. But the seller closed the deal by agreeing to the offer and providing payment instructions. Since he was the only one who knew that the deal was closed, he would be the logical choice to mark it as sold. He can't assume that Grantley will immediately read his response and take the initiative to end the sale.
  5. I respectfully disagree. If the sale was contingent on Grantley posting in the thread, why did Pablo provide his Paypal info before the fact?
  6. You would think that a seller with a 900+ feedback rating has been selling long enough to know: 1) Items with no reserve pricing can actually sell at the opening bid price. 2) Items sold at a loss are just as fragile as items sold at a profit. 3) The high bidder outbid all the other bidders for your item, and is deserving of your thanks.
  7. I think that Pablo didn't understand that once he accepted Grantley's offer, it was a done deal. Negotiations were now over. You can't continue to negotiate. Even if someone had later posted an unconditional "I'll take it" in the thread, there was nothing to take. Pablo should have immediately posted that the book was sold by pm. Grantley made an offer and he accepted. I would encourage the second buyer, Omaha, to not get involved in this.
  8. Just completed my second transaction with Rick. In his recent sales thread, I jokingly asked if he could post his Archie 46 (it had been listed in a previous thread, then was removed). I explained that it was my birthday, but I wasn't looking for special treatment... Rick immediately puts up the Archie 46 for sale. I was so excited, I was shaking. Somehow I managed to post . The book came today. What a swell guy.
  9. Thanks JF! Wish I could afford that Wonder 14 too. Isn't that a beauty?
  10. That's good enough for me! Good luck Rick! Oh. Not trying to get any special treatment, but today just happens to be my birthday...
  11. If I wish you luck would you coax that Archie 46 back out of the box ?
  12. So technically the auction was over before it began. Remind me to end my auctions at 11:59 pm.
  13. That is a great cover and a wonderful gesture.
  14. Bob was right, I almost skipped over it thinking it was the previous auction. Keeping my fingers crossed for an Action 252... ...but whatever you post will be great.
  15. Rick, you make it sound like they don't want to leave you.
  16. Hey, what happened to the Archie 46? I was waiting for another discount on that one.
  17. I don't want to be a stool pigeon, but if you guys don't stop...
  18. That Action Comics 252 looks extremely nice for a 4.0. I can understand why the previous owner rated it a 5.0. I have a reprint of that issue, and it is a great read. From back in the day when people actually bought comics to read and enjoy. This one is on my wish list. Good luck with the sale, Rick. I might tease you a lot, but that's just because you are so easy to read, too. No one can question your love for comics or your integrity.
  19. You should update your sold list and post an Archie 50 for me since I pointed this out.
  20. Bought a Jughead #28 from Rick. The book was very well packaged and arrived quickly. I will definitely be watching for more of his sales. He's a nice guy too.
  21. Some great covers here. The boards are slow today, I thought Rick would have grabbed the Fight 39 by now. He has a soft spot for damsels in dis dress. @Ricksneatstuff
