  1. If he can scale a sheer wall, he could. And he did.
  2. Thanks to @DR.X and everyone who contributed time or prizes for this fine thread. It was great.
  3. Ugh. I think my guess is way too low. I cross converted ounces and cubic inches.
  4. What if some of the coins are decoys? Like this tin plated penny I just made.
  5. I tried to add a smiley to your post, but the new format wouldn't let me.
  6. I didn't know Bob personally, but I had the opportunity to exchange messages with him. He deeply cared about this hobby, and was always willing to help a fellow collector. This issue will always remind me of Bob. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
  7. You could also post a 'want to buy' on the boards for that same issue . Let the sellers compete for you.
  8. One of my favorite covers. The pic isn't mine. While I do have a CGC Tales To Astonish 49 , it would have taken me too long to dig it out. I think mine is a 7.5. I just realized that I started collecting comics one month after this comic appeared.
  9. From Google, describing silver... "It does not react with oxygen in the air under normal circumstances. It does react slowly with sulfur compounds in the air, however. The product of this reaction is silver sulfide (Ag 2 S), a black compound. The tarnish that develops over time on silverware and other silver-plated objects is silver sulfide." I wonder if the silver foil is coated to prevent this? Also, silver nitrate is photosensitive, and darkens when exposed to light. They should have used gold foil.
  10. $15.70 per troy ounce today. Don't forget to add the cost of slabbing.
  11. Beautiful cover! But why are the gals wearing makeup in the middle of the night?
  12. I ordered the "Be a ventriloquist! Throw your voice! " gizmo. If I remember correctly, it consisted of a metal clip with a wide rubber band around it. You were supposed to put it in your mouth to generate speech. My brothers opened the package and slobbered all over it before I got home.
  13. Hasn't Ilinois heard of that newfangled device that can perform searches in microseconds?
  14. Congratulations! I only had 1 bullseye, was off by 1 on two books, and off by 1.4 on another (I thought the Eternals cover was stained). 36 total points.
  15. I just got the emoticon from @BlowUpTheMoon! It's the kiss of death.
  16. Good luck, my friend. I have ASM 1-441 (mostly low grade). I know for certain that an ASM collector will win our round. I can live with that.
