  1. Michael Jackson taken over by the Venom symbiote versus Prince taken over by the Carnage symbiote in a death match to the end!
  2. If there is any truth to the information it is that collectors are thinning their collections and more and more collectors/ buyers are choosing to buy quality over quantity. Keys keys keys instead of runs. So truth: some comics are losing value: those mid run very common books of no importance.
  3. we have a young guy who collects golden age horror comics that visits our booth at the Calgary Expo every year. He was 14 when we first met him.
  4. No signature witness will be in Edmonton.
  5. no need to be confused it is exactly what I said it is. A reprint of Superman #1. Like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Famous-1st-Edition-C-61-Superman-1-Whitman-Variant-DC-Comics-Treasury-1979-/112520865101?hash=item1a32c4254d:g:l5wAAOSw9GhYYZ8A You open the outside cover and it looks like a real Superman #1 except it is bigger, the dimensions you gave means it is one of these but with the cover removed.
  6. Thank you for measuring it. What you have is a Famous First Editions issue from 1979 reprinting Superman #1 with the original cover removed. It is basically of no value especially since the cover is removed. A complete Famous First Editions in around VG that has the original cover is worth around $5.00 - $10.00.
  7. carefully take it out of the frame. Look through it, make sure it has all the pages and parts. measure it, top to bottom and side to side and post the results. Please excuse all the acerbic posts, it is just that it is extremely unlikely you actually found a Superman 1 in the attic.
  8. too bad, is a lot of excellent sellers from Canada.
  9. Awwww look at the wittle guys coming out of the eye sockets. ( I really don't collect "cute" comics, so this will just have to do!)
  10. agreed. And while I am here I will cast my vote. This is my favorite Joker cover:
  11. I have a I agree. I am expecting negotiation on every book. It is rare that someone pays the full asking.
  12. I agree, I think Gal Gadot is a spectacular Wonder Woman. She nails the looks.
  13. Like this? Books with bags, no boards and peanuts everywhere! Small partially crushed little bits of packing peanuts stuck to every bag.
  14. It is possible the book actually visually and structurally looks like a 9.4 even 9.6 BUT has something about it that would reduce the grade. Example: a small water stain that you can't really see. More likely the book has several spine stresses and visually appears as an 8.0 copy and the dealer is over grading.
  15. It is indeed. Take the raw Hulk 181 me and Dave looked at. We ask the dealer if the book has the Marvel value Stamp and he said yes. Flip to the page and yes it has a MVS, but the wrong one. What someone had done is swap out the wrap from a Hulk 179 in place of the wrap from the Hulk 181. Knowledge helped in this. As I collect Marvel value Stamps I instantly knew it was the wrong stamp in the book. Later the same dealer tried to trade the tainted Hulk 181 to a friend of mine for his WWBN 32. The friend came to me and asked my opinion of the potential trade, and I asked who the dealer was. He told me, and then To the OP, mind sharing a scan of the book? That way those of us who are chiming in can see if the outside looks 9.4 9.6, and then the issue is an interior problem which many would miss.
  16. Sorry for your loss, and welcome to the boards. First, I am not sure what you are asking help about? Are you planning to sell them? Are you keeping them?
  17. I have a Ademco 21" x 25" press. It worked very well when I could use it, currently does not power up, not sure why. Pro: The size of it is a feature I like, can press larger books, multiple books. The wheel is another feature, can vary the amount of pressure easily. Con: Monstrously heavy **not sure why the picture is rotated. I can't seem to fix it either.
