  1. Yeah it's teetering right now. Teeter. Funny word. Basically sell nothing until you're on your deathbed, then give it a few more days.
  2. I thought you were joking at first but I looked it up. Yeah, Nice. It really is the first appearance. The first cartoon he was in was The Wise Little Hen - May 1934, which is Spring. The first comic strip he was in was Sept. 1934.
  3. You definitely know more than me about these but if you could look at the last photo in the auction link. Are the pages split or just the cover? https://www.weissauctions.com/Online-Catalogs.aspx#/sales/100443/lots/20504113
  4. So 46,000. That is high. I suppose maybe after some cleaning and flattening it's not too high. I just found the lot, # 1205. Couldn't save the photos but it's really not that bad and that doesn't look like a spine split, just the cover half detached. It is described as spine split but from that pic to me it looks like just the cover. It looks like the cover has some really strong and bright color too. Not bad. https://www.weissauctions.com/Online-Catalogs.aspx#/sales/100443/lots?filter=all&sort=perf_current_value_desc better link - https://www.weissauctions.com/Online-Catalogs.aspx#/sales/100443/lots/20504113
  5. Well c'mon now, the cover would have went for many thousands even in poor shape. That particular splash page in really nice condition would have probably hit around 5k these days.
  6. Yeah , and about 1/544th of the entire book.
  7. Could be. Or it's being done by a new employee with limited sealing experience. Sir, this book is going to be a little tight. Just put it in a magazine holder then. Ok, should I make sure it's at least centered so it looks nice? . No, just put it in. I prefer toward the upper right of the case. Gives it that this holder has been dropped on the floor a few times look.
  8. Only 18 of them graded. I was watching that auction too , 7,200, that's a crazy price. Problem is with these books that only come around every few years is that the previous sale really sets the bar. Not that much opportunity for "the market" to adjust the price to an accurate or realistic point. 4.0 in 2019 - 900.00 , 4.5 in 2021 4,000, 6.5 in 2022 7,000. This could have been two people just bidding each other up and up and now its a big money book. BTw there is, as you know I'm sure, a 9.8 out there plus a few other high grade copies. Maybe this sale will cause more to become available soon. I really just came here to say to me that's the best Dinosaur cover I can think of. Love it.
  9. Oh jeez. It's not even centered. Are St. John books, or that series, larger than most other GA's? I've seen a few the past year or so. The first time I saw one I thought was a smaller version of the comic. Boy was a wrong . 1- They can cram some of the books that will be tight and are probably already fragile in a regular size holder/inner holder and risk damaging them. 2- They can put those books in big magazine size holders any old way like they do now. 3- Like they do with the old cards like Goudey's and small series like1975 Topps Mini's they can modify the larger holder with that nice frosty border which also centers the book and makes it look pretty. Or create a new slightly larger than the standard size holder for Golden Age books. That would be a pretty big move by CGC, to create a new size GA holder that's slightly bigger than the standard one I know. I'm looking at my Golden Age DC's and they do look pretty tight in there, but they do fit. I don't know the best solution but just putting some books in a Mag size holder seems kind of cheesy.
  10. Found it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanky_(film) I've just been waiting for a 9.8 to surface.
  11. Ok thanks. I guess we'll see soon enough with the upcoming HA copy. I do like you're optimism. I'm just thinking it's gonna go between 500 and 600k. Gocollect chart says an 8.5 is in the top 1.6% of Blue labels. Didn't think it be that low. 9.0 top 1.1%, but that will surely go down over time.
  12. I can't find that either. I see one for 560k on 8/30/21 on CC. Right around the peak of the era of insanity. I'm using gocollect. I'm just not seeing these huge sales. https://www.comicconnect.com/item/925735?gck=f7fe5566-cf9f-45eb-a9f7-95a278d483d7&utm_source=GoCollect&utm_medium=Growth_Partner&utm_campaign=Sponsored_Listing&utm_term=Amazing+Fantasy+%2315&utm_content=925735&tzf=1
  13. I agree a 9.0 selling for 1 million right now wouldn't be surprising. Where were those 8.5 sales of 707k and 875k? Couldn't find them. I only saw 3 8.0's in 2022 for 448K, 450K and 520K.
  14. I could see a 9.2 hitting that mark in this wacky day and age. 8.5, half million give or take, probably take, or give, whichever means the lesser of the two. That was just NoMan in a Euphoric State that's all. Which incidently is where I went to college.
  15. Thanks. Yeah I've been trying to get it out there as much as possible
  16. Yes you're right, but 3 of the 4 aren't that long ago. Sure they would go for more but I don't think that much more. Now I'm really interested. We'll have to watch the future sales of some high grade ones.
  17. It's probably legit. The seller says he bought it from the Frazetta family, but he doesn't give any time frame as to when. He should have gotten some kind of signed documentation when he bought it. Problem is as I know you know is you're not sure and neither would anyone else be pretty much. Best stick with HA for this stuff as the sale can be traced. From what I see you can get similar sketches on HA for about the same as this piece. I wouldn't mind having one.
  18. And if you don't have a half a million to procure that 8.5 there is a .5 coming to CL in a few days. Ok it's mine. Hate to plug my own book but it's gonna need all the help it can get. https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1628556
  19. That's the one I've been hoping to get for a long time. And she still has the skirt. Is that photo cropped or trimmed or something? Because it looks perfect.
  20. His GA stuff is cool but to me I don't think they really demonstrate his full talent. The Warren mags from the mid 60's are sweet. Some of the best sold examples from recent years. Things are cheap and almost all have less than 100 in the census.
