  1. Same with me. I paid with check. I called and paid the shipping over the phone. Lady was very pleasant, said something to the effect that it's something they need to fix in the checkout process. Still waiting for the book.
  2. Well we are assuming Dan was a little boy based on his spelling but let's not rule out the possibility he was a semi literate adult. No, it is cool that he knew it was an important book. I bet there were many at the time who were so liking the monthly introduction of new monsters who thought this man spider character was totally lame.
  3. That's right. A SS wouldn't go for any difference in a 1.5. The Tec 76 would probably get a little more because of the Joe Simon signature. I believe a lot of GA collectors including myself have no desire for a signed book so that kind of balances it out to making very little difference.
  4. Daring Mystery 1 Captain America 6 More Fun Comics Spectre cover. Red Raven 1 Human Torch 8 Mystery Men 3 That's all . If I manage to just get a few of those I'll be happy happy happy.
  5. So true. Can't drive your girl to the rootbeer stand in an Action Comics #1.
  6. Actually in comics it way more. 1966 comic= .12 cents. 2022 comics are like 4 bucks. 33X more. By this formula that's like spending 9,900 on comics.
  7. I saw this on David's you tube channel. Beauty and definitely under-graded. Very likely the best surviving copy there is. PS incredible high grade Cole collection you have. What a pleasure it was seeing those books live on videotape.
  8. Completely agree with all that. I think what I like most about Suspense 3 is the coloring. The way they blend and how everything is illuminated by the moonlight. The cgc label says Shomburg cover , Cole art. Did L.B. do the inking for the cover?
  9. I know I know. Surely I must be mad to even suggest such a thing. It;s a great cover no doubt. A little grim for my taste, I mean no doubt that guy won't be able to take all those guys with just a spear. But maybe while his brutal murder is happening the girl will get away. I think Suspense 3 cover is in Florida judging by the foliage. Lots of Nazi KKK human sacrifice activity happening in 1940's Florida I believe.
  10. Thank you. Edit. I understand better now. I did bid over the minimum amount during the 3rd or 4th reset. But I now know/remember that the counter resets with any bid even if it falls short of someones "secret" max bid. So there is no reason at all to bid more than the minimum. In this case I bid 5,100 when it was 4,300 and change. Then wouldn't you know it the "next guy" bid 4,900 (which still reset the counter).. I won't be doing that ever again. btw these are the notes. I don't see a heavy stain full center. Of course the coding lines are on all Cosmic Aeroplane's. The only thing that I don't like is the rusty staple.
  11. I found a few of Thomas Thorsons (son of Thor) on a google search that could be our Tommy. I grabbed this last night. I know I paid too much but it's the only way to get this stuff anymore. One person bid it up about 800 bucks on the last bid but came 200 short of my high. To me this book was Jack's first really great cover.
  12. Yep. And pretty much any Lou Fine cover. Suspense 3 to me is over-rated/priced but it is well loved so yeah it's one of them. Actually I think a lot of GA books especially the earlier ones with low pops will never decrease short of a zombie apocalypse or Earth drifting toward or away from the sun type situation. The desire will always exceed the supply, at least I hope. Good topic for a discussion this is.
  13. I was thinking just the other day about books that will never go down, or more precisely keep going up, and Mask #1 and 2 were the first that I thought of.
  14. they're in here. https://comics.ha.com/c/auction-home.zx?saleNo=122251&ic=breadcrumb-comics-121913-interior
  15. Oh! I was going to say assuming the back cover was ok. As much as I like the folks there, they really need to start providing back cover scans. Hope the buyer knew about this, if not they're gonna be like
  16. There Will Be Red Ink. Promise books originally sold during a time of great prosperity (insanity?) , plus they were hyped the likes of which...........I got nothing but you know what I mean. Probably going to be a few years yet until they will almost all be green, then watch out........ Ah , we all know this anyway. I really came to say Cap 31 what a great cover. I might even go as far to say it's the best Shomburg cover of the series other than #3. A nice 5.5 just sold on CL for 5,330 https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FPREVIEW.ASP%3Fcode%3D2022nov%26session%3D1%26pg%3D4%23Item_1628322&id=1628322&itemType=0

  18. Good move getting it. I didn't realize how rare that book is. Only 4 blue and 1 restored on the cgc census, and I looked on e bay and there's not a one raw copy for sale or recently sold. So to have the art from that..........but mostly because it's such a great cover. If someone ever asks why the call Jack Kirby "King" just show them that. Edit 12/14- Seeing that great Kirby art inspired me to buy this from Quentin Eastman through ComicConnect. Not sure if I paid too much as I had nothing to refer to. I think I like it though.
  19. That is nice. Excuse my ignorance but is that the OA? If not did Kirby draw it? It just looks so awesome. My father used to shoot pool with him in the 60's. They grew up in the same place. Both leftys, both pretty good. Used to love to watch him play on espn.
