  1. Ok thats two of you who think that and I trust your judgement. I was just thinking that it went a little low last time combined with what I've noticed to be some pretty up there prices on GA's recently. Seems to be a growing interest in the old stuff this past year.
  2. Thats quite a hit the seller who paid 38.5k took. Assuming it didnt change hands privately in between those two sales. PS Although it looks more like "Ornesh" I think it is Ernest. I couldn't find any record of any person by either name. It'll probably hit at least 38K again this time around.
  3. Wow. Wow. Highest graded in the world, and it looks even nicer than the grade. Thats a serious book there. Holy Cow.
  4. I think to me 33 is the total package, (but again so many great ones to compare). A early stage Batman front and center and no Boy Wonder getting in the way. Also strange how 54 is so similar. I wonder why they did that.
  5. Oh cool. Such a nice example. Thing I like about 50 isn't so much the picture but the colors. I also like the Red White Blue combination on the title area up top. I saw that you liked 43,44 in another post , thats what gave me the idea to ask this question to everyone. I think 43 to 46 would be a nice run to own and display.
  6. What are your favorite Golden Age Detective Comics covers? Maybe a top 5 or 10. Or even just one favorite. Regardless of value or significance but just artwork and eye candy appeal. I like 3, 16, 33, 45, 50, 69, 122, the best, but there are so many great ones really.
  7. Oh really? All I've really done business with is e-bay, Heritage, ComicLink and Comic Connect as a buyer . And I've only sold on e-bay and a few times on CL (which went very smooth, it just takes time). I think a flat 10 or 11% of the actual sale price is as high as it should be to sell anywhere.
  8. Very detailed info Lightning I appreciate it. I still think they are raping us on these fees considering the volume they do. In our cases the more they take the more it negatively effects the true value of our collections. Its just greed. But thats a whole nother issue. Thanks again.
  9. Thanks for that info and explanation. To me people should be up in arms for being charged a fee for sales tax that doesn't go to them at all. And I bet the way its set up you'll get charged federal tax on the sales tax they charge the buyer. With over 10 trillion dollars in new debt in 6 months time, the Federal Reserve is going to want some return on that money they printed out of thin air. And thats what the IRS is there for. Also the final fee didn't drop it was raised 2.4%. Sure we are still paying about the same but ebay is making billions more a year on the deal. Thanks for the detailed info.
  10. Same here but thats because it hasn't been fully implemented yet. Only those who already registered are currently using it. The messages I've received from e bay say that if I haven't "registered" for managed payments by November ......... Well here it is - "Starting this November, eBay will manage your payments. Now’s the time to join thousands of sellers by registering for the simpler way to do business on eBay. Make sure you register by October 15, 2020 to ensure there’s no interruption to your selling." Translation- Follow the herd like good livestock. Its simpler because you're too stupid and lazy. And if you don't do it by 10/15 you're screwed so you have no choice either way. Take it or leave it sucker. Pretty sure that come November you can't sell unless you register and say goodbye to using paypal for ebay.
  11. Oh! Oh! Oh!.........wait one more, no I'm done. You get charged 12.4% on the sales tax also? Has it always been like that (since ebay started working for the IRS and collecting sales tax a few years back)? I can't see any legitimate reason for a seller to have to pay fees on sales tax that the buyer is responsible for. Oh!
  12. Yeah the fees always seem higher than what they say they are on paper. After my previous post I found this , not that it was hard to find. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822 So with PP it was 10% plus 2.9% = 12.9% Now its 12.4% + the 30 cents as always. So according to that its about 50 cents cheaper per 100 dollars. Unless with comics they charge 14.4% now. It says for books, dvd's, movies, ect they charge that %. Hope the heck not. Do you know if you can now transfer a specific amount of your money from ebay to your bank account like you can with PP? Or do they automatically send it all to your bank account after a certain time? Basically do you have an option of not having it all put in your account in one lump sum?
  13. Its so hard to get information about this out there on the world wide web. Lots of different things being said. I'm waiting until the last minute to do it. I'm pretty much done selling on that site for the rest of the year anyway. And I think I may open a new account in a new bank just to use for ebay funds. I have a feeling one reason for this is to collect tax revenue (federal) on everything you sell. Taxes on 100% of the sale price. That $20,000 paypal "threshold" is nevermore. I hope if anyone here is using the new system already they keep us posted on how it's going for them.
  14. I'm sorry I didn't even realize this book was for sale. I shouldn't be posting wise cracks. Good luck seller that is one heck of a book.
  15. Great. Good luck with the grade and I hope you offer it here first.
  16. For those of you who have the extra dough to have aquired this one and didn't bid, I say to you - "You sir are a damned fool". 15 Blues in census. Only 4 graded higher. Highest graded example sold at least the past 20 years according to my source (Gocollect is my source). I mean Come on. Seriously I love this book. No, I am in love with this book. Me, this book, some Marvin, and little Courvoisier,.........thats what I'm talking about. What a Gem. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/adventure-comics-46-dc-1940-cgc-vg-35-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7234-96002.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116
  17. Very insightful and well stated Cat. With me Its not the Hitler aspect as much as the whole war propaganda in comics aspect. Keep in mind that Germany and Japan had the same type of propaganda regarding the USA. I'm anti-war in general although I was a die hard "conservative' at one point in my life. Knowing what I know now I feel all citizens of all the countries involved were used as pawns and both wars could have been avoided. I love the artwork, I respect the historic aspect, I just don't dig the idea of aiming it at mainly children at the time. Thats why I lean towards the criminal/villian/weird freaky monster or space alien covers. Or covers with a hot chick in peril. A few Marvel Mystery's ended today. I really wanted the 57 but looks like I'll have to wait for a lower grade to come around. 2,880.00 on an 8.5. Last one went for 2,566.00 in 2016. Wonderful cover https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/marvel-mystery-comics-57-timely-1944-cgc-vf-85-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7234-96082.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116 This WWII cover is one of Shombergs best I think, #64. 2,088. Over 300 more than last 6.5 in 2019.
  18. Personally the Hitler covers thing does nothing for me. Don't see why some would make the books so pricey. To be honest and I don't want to upset anyone as I have a habit of doing but to me the whole WWII covers thing is kind of disturbing. Rather see them fighting crime and the occasional freaky looking monster or alien.
  19. Oh you got that 65? Thats great! Looks like a pretty healthy 6.5. Lots of competition for those More Fun Spectres. I'd like to find a # 60 in which the bidding doesn't get all Crazy Eddie like it did so many times today. I can't see any reason how Heritage would benefit from the daytime auctions, but I'm sure they know what theyre doing. I least I think I'm sure.
