  1. Hi, Anybody know if there is a specific comic considered the origin of Penguin? Or the first origin story? Thanks.
  2. Not a solution but I find the half backs plenty sturdy enough. Also with the full backs the books seem to me to be to tight in the mylites especially when sliding them in.
  3. I just found out. Thank you Mr O'Neil for all you did for us.
  4. Hi, I've recently purchesed a couple of inexpensive cameras for inside my house. The kind that use a cell phone or tablet app to use. I'm still playing with them trying to get the most out of them. Many of them seem to be kind of quirky and even unreliable. Then theres figuring out how to use the cloud service. Anyway it got me thinking about GPS tracking for my comics. Most of mine are graded and in those heavy cgc carboard boxes. I thought it might be a good idea to put a tracking device in each box or maybe in the resealable mylars I use. I figure if I got robbed the dirty theif would probably just grab the entire box(s). It would have to be a good one that you can track many miles away. Smaller the better. I know people also use these for children/people with disabilities who can get lost or be vulnerable, and also for pets. Does anybody here use anything like that for comics or valuables or have considered it? I've done a little research and it looks like finding the right one may take some time. Thanks
  5. Heyyyy, thanks for those advices. I do post a little bit around here but I mostly read the threads. When I do sell I always sell cheap but thats just because I'm such a nice guy. Easy to get a long with. Friendly even. I chat sometimes, met a few nice people. Good people. Oh and believe me nobody felt more uneasy than me in that WWBN 32 thread. Its tough getting accused of dishonestly and scamming by people you don't know. But when it was shown that they were wrong at least they apologized.......oh wait a minute. I know though, I see your point there. Yes but good advice thank you steve in the city. San Francisco? Is the city San Francisco? Actually my question wasn't actually because I intend to offer trades here, although I might one day. I was actually wondering how people trade. I've always wondered that . I guess they just both agree to ship their books on the same day and hope evil doesn't prevail? I can't think of any other assurance that can be done without using a go between perhaps.

  7. Hi, I've been buying and selling comics for a while however I've never traded or partial traded with cash involved. I do have some graded books I would like to trade eventually which I believe would be done on the Want to Buy section here. What is the best and safest way to trade with people you don't personally know especially when books in 1K to say 10K range are involved? Thanks.
  8. So Billy Mumy owned all those comics? Does he still own them? Did he have an Action 1?

  11. I'm a very pleasant person. Only when people start accusing me of ending a deal in order to make an extra 50 dollars I'm inclined to defend myself. This thread had some assumptions and accusations that were unfounded. You quoted me in a thread in which I defended myself over a specific accusation that was shown to be false. I apologize to you that I did it in a manner which you found unpleasant. Strange how I am taking heat for the words I chose to use in defending myself from false accusations but nobody says anything to the people who made those accusations. Nobody labeled those posts as being combative or unpleasant or unprofessional. And for anybody else who wants to critisize me about this. The guy wanted me to send an expensive book to an address that he no longer lives at. In an apartment building in a city. I chose not to. I did not like how he responded to that so I ended the deal completely.
  12. I agree with that. File Copy or Murphy Anderson Collection but not Pedigree status.
  13. Yes. Even that brings to mind a thought. The term File Copy. I wonder if he was just keeping them as a collector of sorts or if there was a job related reason he kept them. Just curious as to why he kept these until his passing in 2015. Most are at least 8.0 and even 9.4, 9.6's so he must have had them stored untouched the whole time. Age alone can mess up a book if their not stored well.
  14. Hi, I've read CGC's description of the Murphy Anderson Pedigree Collection but I was wondering if anybody may know more details about it. I remember when many of these hit the blocks last year on Heritage and Comiclink and there were quite a few real nice ones that are on my list but I didn't get any. Got outbid on Witching Hour 4 and a Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love 2 and a few others I passed on but should have bid. But there are still some for sale and popping up. Seems like its a pretty darn nice collection. So any more details such as the oldest to newest, how many are there, are there only one of each, and how did they come to be graded in what seems to be early 2019? Any info is appreciated. Thanks
  15. I pretty much give up trying to eliminate the glare from this scanner. I don't know if an 8300 will do any better. I'm wondering if I should go to Staples and see if I can scan them there. Of course there is a security risk doing that.
  16. I have a HP Scanjet 8200 or 8250. Its in flawless condition. But it leaves glare, too much glare. I like to keep all my graded books categorized and in order so whenever I get a new one the first thing I do is scan it. Example of how it leaves glare- First scan is upright in the scanner bed. Heavy glare on the top edge. Second scan is flipped 180 degrees and there is glare on the bottom eege. Anybody know if there is a simple program to use on a PC to fix this or a suggestion for a scanner which doesn't leave glare.....or any advice at all? Thanks
  17. Hi wombat I believe rayb meant from this point on there are more important things. The info is all out on the open about this at this point. That's all. I think, right? It can be discussed for years to come but there won't be any new information coming out as far as I can see. Another edit: Sure the point of whether or not I did anything wrong can be discussed and opinions offered. I just hope its clear that I did not scam anybody and my motive for doing what I did was not to make a little extra money. Unless some new revalations come to light I believe that aspect of this should be history.
  18. Every effort? Would sending a 1,700 dollar comic to his old apartment where he used to live be included in that? Would you have done that?
  19. To kairos. It was stated in the thread "PayPal Only". I do not have to offer another method. And I think it goes without saying that it must be delivered to an address that matches the one on paypal. Nobody in their right mind would send something to a different address than whats on the paypal account regardless of what you say board rules are. In this case however he openly said that he does not live at the address on his paypal anymore. Common sense tells me that is not acceptable either. And there was discussion before I refunded the money to him, He posted the private text message of me telling him that right here on page one. I told him I was going to refund his money. And based on his reaction to me refunding his money I will not proceed with him anymore. I think I have the right to make that decision. And if I don't according to board rules then so be it.
