  1. Good topic. Another good example happened tonight: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/883710 Captain Marvel Jr. 4 9.0. The sole 2nd highest graded example out of 24 Blue's and I think its just as nice as the 9.2 that last sold in 2006 for 1,314.00, which has a big ol ink stamp on the cover. It got no last minute activity. I almost bid on it but didn't pull the trigger, had 1,550 entered and all. I think the buyer got a pretty good deal.
  2. Yep, i just checked it myself. A little over 6K. Not bad for the seller, not too bad for the buyer I guess either.
  3. Its gonna be quite a competition at the end. 46 bids with 3 days left. It will most likely pass 6k.
  4. Such cool horror books. I'm afraid to go to sleep now.
  5. Got it. Very pleased with the condition.
  6. From this thread . I suppose it was the 1st published art of The Batman.
  7. Wow only from last December. Page quality is unreal. I guess the guy who bought the one in 2016 for 10K or less was feeling good when he saw that price even with the brittle.
  8. Yeah that was sold here in 2016. Asking price was 10K , I guess most of the long time boardies here remember that.
  9. Hi, Just wondering although I know many collectors would not consider getting any graded single pages but just for fun my question is: From which Golden Age issues (or any era) would you consider aquiring a single page or wrap? For me it would be: Action 1, 2, or 7. Detective 27, 28, 29, 31. Batman 1. Superman 1. and Captain America 1. Maybe a few other 1st apps or #1's if the price was right.
  10. Thanks. I hope it doesnt seem like I'm muscling in on Great Caesars Ghosts post, I came to the thread to see if anyone mentioned last nights auction and sure enough there was the other Batman 1 page. Cool how 2 members won them. I've never bought a page either although I got outbid on a Cap 1 page a few months ago.
  11. Yeah me too. Your page though is the actual first appearance of Joker, which is just cooler than cool.
  12. Wow thats so cool, I was the one who snagged the other Batman 1 page he was selling last night. I'll post a scan when I get it. Not bad for 849.00, I thought it would go for around 1,200 - 1,500. Now I feel the need to get a Captain America 1 page and a Superman 1 page if I ever see one.
  13. Cool. Enjoy youre journey pursuing your want list. Been working on mine for about 10 years. Its up to you of course but if most of your list happens to be Modern Age I recommend going 9.6 or better. In case you ever want to sell them one day.
  14. I haven't took inventory lately buy about ten years back I downloaded as many Bugs Bunny cartoons as I could find and labeled them in chronological order. I think I was only missing about 5 of them. And theyre uncensured. Pretty good quality too. I still have them.
  15. Super nice one you got there. Thats the kind of color I was hoping for on mine.
  16. Wow that is a sweet example. Thanks guys for posting that. The cover wrap is perfect as well. Nice.
  17. Thanks Buzzetta for that info and showing me another example. Thanks to everyone. I wasnt expecting an 80 year old book to look like a 9.4 Bronze of course, I just thought the colors would be brighter. Truth is I had the same situation with the only other graded GA book I bought years back which I've since sold, a Detective 103. . I had forgetten about that one. The colors were really dark. I think GA books are best bought in person if possible, well thats a no brainer actually I think another reason might be, and I oould very well be wrong, but just as interior pages darken over time perhaps the paper on the cover darkens as well and it can result on the darkening of colors. Here are a few quick pics of the book. With flash on it looks great. Flash off I guess not too bad.
  18. Wow yeah that is an extreme example I suppose. Thanks for the input Robot Man.
  19. I think if that were to happen yes there would be an intitial BOOM the first time around for each major key. After that I think they may wind up right back where the supply/demand market wants it to be.
  20. Hi Everyone, I'll start from the beginning. My CGC collection ranges from the time period from Fantastic Four #1 until Giant Size X-Men 1. I've always loved Golden Age books especially the artwork and the beautiful cover colors. So many are just absoloutely beautiful. Most of them I've actually seen in person have been at shows which I enjoy drooling to. Ok, so I bought my 1st graded GA book and just recieved it. I am kind of disappointed on the cover color. It appears very dark and dull. Not "Eye Popping" at all. It is a very clean book however. Its an Action Comics 34. I have seen many photos of this book from past sales and in most the colors look very bright and vivid. Yet in person mine looks very blah colorwise. It looks duller and darker in person than in these pictures. So I suppose my questions for the experts are is there much variation in colors in GA books within the same issue numbers? Were some printed bright and bold while others came out dark and dull within the same issue number ? Do some just get dull with age while others stay vivid maybe? Any ideas or comments? Of course one reason I'm wondering is beause I'd like to find another copy of this issue but if they are all like this I think I'll go with a different issue. Ok thanks all.
