  1. What do you think the Tec #27 CGC 1.5 OW/W that sold in 5/09 for $83,650 would sell for today? That seems like a steal now. Do you think the buyer could double their money now?

That book has traded hands a few times since that auction at considerably higher prices than it sold for @ Heritage. Since they were private sales, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say how much it sold for so I will leave that decision to others.

I can say the book has sold in the 6fig + range very recently

Wasnt this particular copy the Tec27 1.5 universal which was resubbed and received a considerable bump (Matts pressing service? (shrug)).

the book was not pressed higher, but the book did get resubbed and got a higher grade... that said, it was bid on with that potential in mind...just shows you that in less than a year, the value has litterally doubled...

the 3.0 I sold for $110K back in July of 2008, the current owner has turned down a considerably higher offer, because he knows he can never replace the copy at even that price...

now, I have said it before, these record unrestored prices have not transalated over onto most other restored keys (cap 1, bat 1, supes 1, etc)...but, empirical evidence would suggest that tec 27 and action 1, are the 2 exceptions (thumbs u

On the 1.5 the label noted that the spine was completely split - was the spine taped and resubbed - or was it simply resubbed? Did it get a 2.0/2.5/3.0??

  2. Just got these both in finally. These are Jerry Robinson's personal copies - signed by him - from his private collection. Jerry only signed the books that he contributed to and he only had one copy of each. Jerry used these as reference material and owned them for decades. Debate the PQ all you want - but their historical significance is obvious. Anyone interested is welcome to contact me.

  3. I can see why there's resistance at that number and I'm open to offers, but it really is a tweener - it's probably the nicest 5.5 with out there and has ow/w pages and it hasn't been pressed.

I know this 5.5 was bought by spiderturtle on Ebay for $3803 and then he re-sold it for $3995. If this is the same copy, it is 5.5 with off-white. Better PQ than my 5.5 though.

    This is ow/w pq

  4. Showcase #22 1st app Green Lantern (DC, 1959) CGC 5.5

    Winning bid: US $3,803.54

Record 5.5 price!!! Wow, it almost hit my high target price!!! :o

    Sweet!

    I posted that on 09/05/09 08:15 PM - that's almost 11 months ago. (shrug)

which I then followed up by saying:

"now that's the bar for a 5.5 that all other valuations will be based on...unfortunate for those of us still looking for a copy or two...though I'm sure this final price will seem cheap 6 months from now..."

  5. So, what is the selection of SC #22s like at the C2E2 this weekend?

    Foolkiller found a decent VG/VG+

PM him if interested as I think he may sell.

yep, he found it before I could :baiting: and when I went to buy the AF15 and hulk 1 from the same guy, he had sold them too (to harley, I think)

I am always a day late and a dollar short...

I saw that AF 15 and the Hulk 1. Harley scored on the Hulk 1 but he passed on the AF 15 for good reason - despite the "reasonable" price, it was missing half of the back cover and was really beat up. Whichever dealer bought it repriced it way too high.
