  1. SOLD - But here is the Raphael 1. I think this copy would benefit a lot from a good pressing. It has some spine issues that resulted from not being in a proper bag/board over the years. In my opinion, a worse (and with defects a press won't help) copy just sold for $338 on ebay and this book is generally exploding. I would like $340, shipping included in the price - in the USA.
  2. DC Special 11 5.0 Adam "Beware... The Monsters" $8 Iron Man Annual 4 MODOK! Ghost Rider! Champions! 8.5-9.0 $7 iZombie2 9.4-9.8 $5 (I really like this show. 4. Fall of the Hulks : The Savage She-Hulks #3 9.4 - 9.8 Campbell variant (looks pristine, but I don't like calling anything a 9.6 or 9.8) - $50 (the lowest I see on ebay right now is $69.95) (the sticker is on the bag, not the comic, and shows how some variants do go up in price!) SOLD Ms. Marvel 7 M.O.D.O.K.!! 9.2 - 9.4, maybe better $13 SOLD Ms. Marvel 5 8.5, a press would get it way up $8 SOLD Ms. Marvel 10 9.2 - 9.4, maybe better $13 SOLD Ms, Marvel 13 9.2-9.4 maybe better 1st Marie Danvers $10 (Take all the Ms. Marvels for $40) Sleepwalker 1 9.2-9.4 $17 SOLD Spawn 229 9.2-9.4 $46 SOLD X-Men 4 1st Omega Red, 9.4+ condition $13

  6. OK, I'm just going to randomly attack this pile... Original Swamp Thing Saga 1 1979 5.0 or so $4 SOLD Marvel Spotlight 12 Son of Satan Origin... nice copy, I grade it as an 8.0 because there is a 2 inch NCB crease of the back cover, which could probably be pressed out, the front is very sharp $27 Marvel Spotlight 14 Son of Satan 8.0 also an NCB crease on back that looks pressable $8 Marvel Spotlight 22 Son of Satan, Satana, Ghost Rider 4.5 $4 SOLD Marvel Spotlight 24 Son of Satan, Satana 7.0 $6 SOLD Marvel Spotlight 20 Son of Satan 1st Madame Swabada 8.5 $5 Marvel Spotlight 23 Son of Satan 8.5 $5 Son of Satan 1 Low grade (inked) $5 Son of Satan 2 Big NCB crease on side you can't see in scan and CB crease bottom right, VG - $3 Son of Satan 4 6.0 $3 Son of Satan 6 tiny dent bottom left 8.0-8.5 $4
  7. SOLD What If 105. 1st Mayday Parker / Spider-Girl. I would call this a 9.2 due to some light wear on the spine, but there is this yellow something near her mid-section. I have no idea what it is. It is not rough, it doesn't feel like a ter, it's like some yellow ink got on there, during printing or at some other point. So while this may have been a $125+ copy before (and more if slabbed), I have no idea what CGC would do with this. So I'm going to ask $75 for it and maybe someone is getting a great deal, i have no idea.
  8. Michel Fife's COPRA .. All NM or better #7 1st Print - $65 (the copies up on ebay are $100-124) #13 1st print - $15 #14 1st print - $10 #15 1st print - $9 Copra Compendium Two 1st print $12 (Or all for $100, no, $90 with shipping included!)
  9. SOLD Strange Tales 179 featuring Warlock. A well loved copy of his Starlin classic. 1st Pip the Troll. I should probably hold on to this one. A 3.5? I'd like $8. SOLD What If 10 - What if Jane Foster Found the Hammer of Thor? I hear there is some relevance to an upcoming movie? I'll call it a 7.0. I see similar or worse copies selling on ebay for $100, so I would like $85. to an upcoming movie.
  10. Unlike my VCC attempts, this one is happening. I'm mostly going to be listing silver and bronze, but there will be copper and later. "I'll take it" here trumps PM offers, but PM "takes" (I guess some of you want to be secret, I dunno) count too. $5 flat boxed or gemini mailer shipping in the USA (unless I say the shipping is free -- and if I have free shipping on a big it means everything else you buy also has free shipping). All comics sold individually will be bagged and boarded, if I sell any lots the comics mightt be in one bag with a board. Free shipping if you spend $125 or more. I need to calculate for Canada/UK, but if you spend $125 from those places I will take $10 off your final shipping cost. I will not send via a method where i can't get confirmation that protects me with paypal. Paypal preferred. Goods and services is the norm, if you want to send the other way I won't complain. Buy a bunch of stuff and I will toss in more stuff (provided it does not jack up my shipping cost much). If I miss a defect or whatever, or you think my grading was off, just PM me, I'm here to make people happy. I assure you it was nothing nefarious on my part, just incompetence or blindness. I'm going to start out with a book that has gotten hot as of late, Marvel Super Heroes #20, CGC 6.0 OW, 1st Valeria, 1st solo Dr. Doom, origin. The last 6.0 OW sold for $285 + $14.95 shipping on ebay in August and there is currently one listed at $424 in 6.0 and a 6.5 is at $799. I think it has gotten hotter since the August sale, I'd like I'd like $300 shipped in the USA, so basically the last sale months ago. OK, the glare wiped out the CGC info on one of these pics, but you can see it clearly in another pic, I assure you, I am not trying to pull a switcheroo. Also, the Raphael 1 in the background will be listed at some point this weekend. I need to take some pics of it.
  11. even if i had been able to deduct the interest, i wouldn't be able to deduct the principal, which i guess was around $80K between my BA and JD (so, basically, one year at a fancy private school nowadays!!)
  12. huh? I paid back loans with interest. none of which I was able to deduct. and i paid some upfront (but not much). i'm not complaining, it is what it is, and i certainly expect to pay taxes on the additional income those degrees allowed me to earn. i'm not giddy about it or anything. so, like everything else, the guvment wants to tax your profits on comics, whatever. would it be nice for the guvment to give you some amount they're not going to bother you over, $5K, $10K, whatever, just to avoid paperwork headaches. i just don't see a logical argument for treating different kinds of income differently ... why does a hedge fund manager pay at a lower rate than a brain surgeon?
  13. I paid taxes on the funds used to pay for my education, which allows me to make about 3X as much as I would make just as a high school graduate. I am paying taxes on all that income above what I would have made as a high school graduate. Am I paying taxes twice? And no, corportions are not paying taxes on net income that they are reinvesting into the company that results in increased stock valuations. They pay taxes on income that they are paying out as dividends, true, but frankly, as i understand it, many big corporations are able to pay out dividends while not paying much in the way of taxes at all. asset depreciation, claimed paper losses, etc. they can take a lot of paper deductions that decrease the tax bil while having the cashflow to allow for dividend payments.
  14. I'm guessing the OP is not happy about his book coming back only an 8.0, not about gift grades Other than the scraping on the spine that Hulk 1 is really nice though, dunno about the back but the rest could be a 9.2-4
  15. Only if the only reason I am buying it is to read it. So I wouldn't want dupes of a TPB. But if the book is for "collecting" purposes, if it is a good deal, I am fine with dupes. So no, I don't check. Indeed, there are books I have multiples of, on purpose, and would like more, at the right price.
  16. My image books I did not pay for, so I did not feel bad about dumping them. my brother used to "read" this in the 90s. He'd buy a big stack every week, "read" them, and then just give them to me because his fiance got mad if his comic pile got too big.
  17. Ii got rid of a lot of my most terrible Image books donating them to a thrift shop and claiming they were worth $2 each, so i guess I got about 65 cents of tax deduction out of them. One less box to trip over though.
  18. For so many years I saw most of these pretty cheap and felt compelled to buy them even though i already have 4 or 5 copies of most of them (kind of like many 1980s spideys), telling myself "these are great books, their time will come despite high quantity", but at some point I stopped, there was a limit, and now it looks like they're alive...
  19. If you set up your whole comic collection as an LLP or something maybe you can treat these like inventory costs and not deal with capital gains on each sale if you are reinvesting and makinf capital losses on other stuff Of course, I'd talk to a tax specialist about that. All I know is from the google and you get 79 different answers and suggestions there.
  20. So I'm not hallucinating that there has been an uptick in quite a few of the x-men issues from 144 - 200, right? nothing crazy, but something?
  21. really i want a decent john buscema conan page for under $500 and then I can probably retire from OA collecting.. of course, it has been at least 10 years since I have actually bought any real comic OA.... I am sad I sold my Kirby Captain victory page (hey, it was the only kirby I could afford...) and my starlin komandi page and my nice sutton (or was it colan?) dr. strange page and my pre-goon powell page (for way too little)... needed the $ at the time. i always regret selling my "will stand the test of time" stuff. oh well.
  22. the deadly hands page is also tempting, just to own something from perez, but there's a lot of sitting around in it, so not much action. the punisher page is exciting, but I am not so familiar with the artist and I guess that is carlos cruz pictured, not frank castle?
