I couldn’t sell one of these out of the 15 I had even during the 10 minutes it was hot -
Bronze age comics that are tanking on eBay...

How many millions of years did that baby celestial take to hatch? About as long as it took for externals 1 to be better than a $2 book -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
The Less Blob replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
In the couple of years pre Covid I probably did focus more on $2 boxes because there were more opportunities for $8-20 books in them, the guys at my shows were a little less careful about good stuff getting in and the $1 boxes were pretty drecky with only a few buys per long box and a lot of work. Of course you never know, my last show I secured about 12 copies of MCP 72 for 75 cents each. I’m kind of itching to go to a show now especially after I had Covid for the second time earlier this month. What are the chances of getting it again so soon? -

OH jeez louise I just logged into Whatnot to see what it is and the whole thing made my head hurt. I think if you are over 50 it might give you seizures. -
Is now a good time to be buying?
The Less Blob replied to rckstr1253's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yes. Depending on what you buy and how much you pay. -

No Bronze comics are tanking. They are just taking a little nap. No news here. Keep on moving. Nothing to see here. -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay

Yeah, but is that fat smelly guy who paws over every dollar book and spends 20 minutes in front of each long box who ultimately picks 3 books to buy worth it? I know, because I am the fat smelly guy next to that guy who is tired of waiting for him to move because I actually do spend money. (OK, I have not been to a show for a long time, but still...) -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay

My question is some of the stuff that would have been $1 now $5 or is the $1 inventory sitting in the garage until there is a market for it again? Frankly I would see it plenty at shows, one guy is selling $1 books that are $3-5 books three tables over. I had always wondered what kind of return I could make at a 3 day show going buying a $1-2 books on a Friday and then selling them for $3-5 on Saturday and sunday (it would need to be a big show, of course, but the tables might be so expensive) Do you double board your $5 books? -

I just don't see how there is money in $1 boxes with today's costs in doing a show. Sure, if you are able to buy bulk at $20-30 a box and actually move stuff at $1 a pop, but if you bring 10 long boxes and sell 2 that doesn't seem to be a productive use of the table. $2 seems to make more sense. -
You have $500-750 to buy 1 book right now. What is it and why?
The Less Blob replied to burnsbabe's topic in Comics General
I like mags, they just don't get proportionate love from collectors. The 70s Marvel mags are vastly more attractive than the comics. -

most of my boxes are raw mag boxes because GA does not fit well in other boxes, but they don't fit cgc mag slabs. cgc mag slab box is really high, will not fit on my shelves. i had a cgc mag, it was so annoying I had nowhere to house it, i wound up selling for a loss just to get rid of it -

comic collectors under value magazines, it is as simple as the cgc cases not fitting nicely into their boxes. Oddly enough as a child of the 70s they always felt extra cool though. First off they were 2-3x the cost of a comic sj really special, had better cover art, and a ton more reading material that was usually a bit more grown up, I didn’t miss the color so much -
I am sick of losing 10-15% and doing all that work. And Uncle Joe's $600 reporting thresshold just turned me off to the process, I am not good with paperwork. Luckily my 11 year old will be opening up an online presence soon.

Didn't that happen (a similar explosion in sales) a mere 30 years ago?
