  1. if you remember from the early 80s when spidey was trying to join the avengers, the pay was a whopping $50K. so, adjust for inflation and a few other things, maybe they were making $150K each. enough to buy some land in new jersey!
  2. if that's what it looks like outside every night you just keep on living
  3. aren't we getting excited about the crisis / new 52 books because maybe they are the superman that coates is going to use? the story in this is that n the future, superman's various powers were split up among a while bunch of humans. so one guy has strength, one guy has heat vision, etc. so not really what we're going for here.
  4. it matters to me. i have a TON of #9. only 1 or 2 of those Earth 2 issues. i think my LCS tried to spec on #9 or ordered a lot to get a variant and a huge # wound up in the cheap boxes. not so much any earth 2 books.
  5. I can't do this. I have 15 boxes of unsorted DC that these issues are sprinkled in. I have wrecked my knee and can barely get up my stairs. uhg!
  6. Is he different than the guy in Infinite Crisis 7 / Action 9 / New 52?
  7. if that is the only 9.8 that sells for anywhere near there then we either have manipulation or a coupe of guys who lost their mind bidding on a book
  8. I have no idea how it was packed, I just see the stuff pulled out of the box. I happen to have plenty of bubble wrap always because my wife orders too much krap, but the krap I see would do the trick also in terms of keeping the slab in place and providing additional protection. far superior to a free floating slab or some (clean unused) tissues in there that do nothing to protect it. true, i don't see the use for the victoria's secret catalogue as is. it should be crumpled up into balls to provide cushioning, preferably with nothing sticky on it. i am not sure what those white things are, but if they are the strips pulled off the box, what's the problem?
  9. this looks like packing material shoved in there to stop the slab from flopping around and protect it? is there anything dirty about it? is it really different than getting something packed up inside a bunch of old newspaper or circulars used for padding?
  10. I see a fair amount of blood and vampire stabbing on regular TV, I'm not sure why it NEEDs to be R. Supernatural has gotten fairly gruesome. I was watching SHIELD last night and my wife couldn't believe some scene was on regular TV. Anyway, i saw this: https://screenrant.com/deadpool-blade-mcu-phase-5-connection-why/ Other than Ryan Reynolds being in one of the Blade movies, I don't see why there would be ANY connection between Deadpool and Blade. BUT I can easily see a plotline where Blade has been doing his thing for years and Fury (or Rambeau or whoever was running things) recruiting him for SHIELD / SWORD to handle the vampire problem. Because we would have developed a vampire problem during the "blip" because, maybe in theory, vampires are not "life" and did not get wiped out. So just as many vampires, half as many people, for 5 years, society falling apart. Frankly, a Ronin / Blade team up would have made sense during that period, but Blade can stand on is own on the MCU periphery. This was a franchise that has THREE movies. Two of which made money. It is a little condescending to think a humor character like Deadpool needs to bring him into the MCU.
  11. The way I plug this cover it should be considered a classic cover by now. And I only own 1 copy! I really need to start plugging covers I have a bunch of.
  12. that is an outlandish accusation (the random numbers part, maybe not the "this was mcfarlane's 1487th signing of the weekend"), there is an eagle on there AND it looks like an old timey stock certificate, there's no way it isn't 100%. if it didn't have the eagle, maybe you have a point, but it has an eagle, and we have to trust the eagle.
  13. sure, maybe the thousands of warehouse copies were not lovingly stored so as to remain 9.8s
  14. seriously, has anyone ever seen something like this where we're talking a big # of books (1500, where the heck are they?? -- I assume it is 1500, not 2000 or more) and the signing happens that many years later? someone sat on 7 long boxes of this book for 8 years?
  15. On a different note, with these huge windows for returns, do folks see a lot of buyer's remorse for a book that got super nova hot and cooled of 3-4 weeks later and someone wants their money back?
  16. If I only had a 1st slash card in 10.0 I could retire!! Of course, the implication of that COA is someone had bought 1500 copies on spec and waited a 8 years to get him to sign it! cayote was actually a hot book when it came out, if i remember, but i had thought by 11 it had started to fade
  17. So is this that I didn't realize I owned now worth billionz?:
  18. It woud be a great thing if the whole of the joe run, not just the last few issues and a couple of keys, got out of the dollar box, for the sake of me fixing my roof
  19. which is crazy because it is super common and you could order copies from warren for $4 a pop years into the vampirella run because they printed tons extra
  20. On several of those you really need to be sure they are 9.6 to be worth it, some of them 9.8. others are more no brainers just looking at distance scans and figuring they are above 7.0 like the Hulk 181, etc.
  21. I don't get it. On the other hand, from a purely money grubbing perspective, it isn't like your rampaging hulks don't sell for a chunk more than your regular generic late 70s hulks, but they are like a billion times better. I really feel like this would be better than a $15-20 book if it was hulk 207 or something:
  22. I have a few and, yes, the size is really annoying. I have to lay them flat.
