  1. actually, i think the atari force mini comic came before that too
  2. Atari Force 1 is still a steal! No Generation X nostalgia for this baby!: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-ATARI-FORCE-1-Gerry-Conway-JOSE-LUIS-GARCIA-LOPEZ-comic-Book-Collector/153437719203?hash=item23b999caa3:g:KfoAAMXQDjhQ8EPX
  3. the actual artist desecrating his own art seems to be a bit of a stretch. my problem with that sketch is that the two bat symbols are really sloppy. the profile of batman is fine. after you're done spending $1000 to remove the ink and dropping the grade down to a 5.0, for the amount of money lost just go back in time and buy this for under $1K. it looks pretty nice. the signature isn't so unnerving. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-227-CGC-8-0-Signed-by-Neal-Adams-/184633853005?hash=item2afd09044d%3Ag%3AQiAAAOSwwqpgDJBE&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  4. with that said, at least in the 2000s, that book was a no brainer in $2-3 boxes as it was still a pretty easy sale at $10+ on ebay. but yeah, a lot of guys at shows didn't want to mess around with $7-10 books on ebay, and were fine selling them for $2-3 in person.
  5. why bother with the jump from $3K to $4K when you can go straight to $5k?
  6. the last two were a tad over $3K, so why not push it another 40%?
  7. no, only 1/4 of the copies of x-force 1 and only those that never got opened and had the card removed, so we're only talking about like 300,000 copies.
  8. for a long time you cold snag fairly solid copies out of the $2-3 boxes at shows, as you must remember. legend has it a dealer here in NYC bought like 5,000 copies, maybe more, thinking it would be his retirement book. my friend (who had a shop then) claims he got stuck with them and would be trying to unload them for 10 cents each at shows in the late 80s. i wasn't going to shows anymore at that point so i don't know if that is b.s.
  9. Maybe she should just be naked the whole time.
  10. A series on HBO with lots of full frontal. But I don't think she can really wear her Vamp[i outfit.
  11. sure, aside from chasing dracula that is one of his earliest comic appearances, so I hope they mush that in there, because that is a book I have been buying since forever. disney should just pay sony to put 2 minutes of Blade in their post credit easter egg hunt
  12. just dumb that marvel would greenight a show, it would be on a service mostly owned by marvel, and then marvel doesn't "own" the character as one that has been in the MCU rubbing shoulders with super hero types for 40 years. they don't need to go crazy with it, just throw us a bone or six to tie it all into the MCU. bring in Wong from Dr. Strange to provide a consult if you don't want to pay cumberbatch. maybe robby reyes pops in for half an episode. something! Of course, my idea that Blade works peripherally with SHIELD to deal with vampires already exists in the comics, which I did not know about. seems logical that shield would have its toes in a lot of things. Again, Blade does not need to have much to do with the MCU, I wouldn't want a "Blade AGENT of SHIELD" (even if he might be one), just drop a few ties into the mcu.
  13. So we have a comic like Yellow Fang, where the villian is pretty much every asian menace stereo type you can think of rolled up in one, but the hero, Jimmy Woo, as I understand it, was done very respectfully. Of course, there's probably some paternalism going on there, but whatever.
  14. Those painted covers from the 50s - 70s are indeed offensive, particularly to me, as I am 1/164th native american and my ancestors did not hunt dinosaurs. I will PM you.
  15. So, if you own the above comic, or any like it, you should send it to me for proper disposal. i will be happy to pay shipping to rid the world of such things.
  16. Some parts of this cover may be considered a bit rayray. to be fair, general togo does not have fangs like most japanese are depicted as having in many WW II era covers, so that's an improvement. He doesn't really come off worse than the other fascists. The depiction of Wash Jones, ehhhhhh, Schomburg, we love you, but......
  17. Are you married? Does that actually work for you? The fact that I would ask, and do not know, makes it 120X worse.
  18. I'd also add, you're not buying a comic. You are buying a slab from CGC that says 9.8 on it and a comic book inside. That's where the hundreds are going. Outside of hot keys that sell even when raw, nearly every book you are concerned about from that era can be found for $15 for less in nice shape. Often $5 or less. I paid about $17, which included shipping, for this. Mid-grade. Classic Neal Adams cover, 1st appearance of a minor character (that had a TV show). Money going into some books seems to mean some others are getting ignored. Yes, a cgc 9.8 will probably be over $1000, but a 9.4 is probably only $100-150.
