  1. With that said, your OA is now worth significantly more as it is not just a commission, but the art for the cover of the comic. seriously, they should have given you a copy of the book though. At the end of the day, Steranko still owns all the publishing/recreation rights to the image he did as a commission unless there is an agreement otherwise and no way Steranko would agree otherwise. he knows the business.
  2. This is a $100 hardcover or something? I guess they're not doing a TPB version anytime soon? Any idea how many they anticipate printing? If they're only printing 500 or 1000 I can see the issue here as if they have to give away 50 copies to get images. Shipping costs shouldn't be an issue, it costs $4 to ship a book, but if they're spending $25 a book to print them...
  3. OK, the rabid fan base presumably already owns all the copies of the comic they will ever need because sales don't seem to reflect much rabitity. I pick up the first issue (which is presumably the most common, but I figure will be the one to pop if she ever appears anywhere) in the dollar box when I see it "just in case," but I don't see a lot of future in that one for some reason, mainly that her title only had 5 issues and she appeared a few more times elsewhere. If/when Marvel likes to do a show, they usually like to have a decent amount of source material to draw from and while they have certainly done obscure, she is really obscure. As for his art, its fine, I don't think it is "the worst," kind of like a less interesting Walt Simonson. On the other hand, as a peripheral character in a show, maybe, but Marvel already has a private investigator and she is hot and super human (please bring back Jessica Jones... just not what I saw in season 3...)
  4. The War Machine armor is called "War Machine" in 282, this naming nuance on a cover does not seem to make a lot of sense to me if he is wearing it in 284. I've always picked up 284 when I saw it cheap. Figured it was overlooked.
  5. That seems silly when 118, as you've noted, has been a sub-$50 book for a long time and I assume 170 was (and is) too (maybe not for long). But I guess those late issues in Avengers WC are not out there in huge numbers (although I have a bunch of the last issue, I am sure I don't have 94..bummer). I feel like I have not sold my 118s because I just didn't think what they were fetching made sense for a character that has been in all these movies and is a decent cog in the Marvel Universe. I know he is more of a supporting role, but still. (Hey, these things don't always make sense. The 1st appearance of Maria Hill is maybe worth $5...a character that has appeared in the comics like 500 times, TV shows, movies, etc., and 1st Samuel L. Jackson Clone Nick Fury isn't much better and Phil Coulston somewhere in between (although as he first appeared in movies maybe it makes sense)
  6. Jimmy Woo was the hero of Yellow Claw, published by Atlas in 1956. As noted in the Wandavision thread, he is one of Marvel's oldest characters outside of the Golden Age characters brought back in the SA and BA.
  7. I actually don't think these are newsies per re as the book may have been direct only, but why does it look like it? Anyway, these are evidence that high school internships can pan out! The guy whose name is on top of Jim lee's was one of my best friend's older brothers who wound up working for marvel as a jack of all trades after doing a high school internship in 1985.
  8. It's kind of random, but I think I will make 1990 my cut off for pulling these out and putting them in a separate box
  9. But not nearly as huge a ratio as some books. But on others a 9.8 might only be 50% more
  10. Please shut up. I need to find the rest of my deadpool rookie cards.
  11. I feel like I have bought a dozen over the years and have only found 3. As for Thor 339.. It seems to be the same $15 it was 2 years ago. Was it $25 at one point?
  12. Ok. Good to know. I was thinking of the izombie/bly manor guy
  13. Makes me wonder if he is really an FBI agent or undercover for shield the whole time. He showed surprising arse kicking skills last episode
  14. According to the internet. He has been popping up for a while. He was a Shield agent too. I was just watching the avengers cartoon from 2010.
  15. Well there are a zillion SE Asian actors with a good British accent if they want that
  16. Yellow claw 1 .. Not that you can find that in a dollar box! 1st Jimmy woo!! I had no idea he basically pre-dated all the silver ahe marvel characters
  17. I thought this thread was intended as a joke. If not, maybe then it should only be for members who have passed away.
  18. Good lord, I was being sarcastic. In my mind 11 variants is the same as 73. It is 9-10 or 71-72 too many.
  19. Ok, the sex part is not clear from the articles. Anyway, having an interesting talk with my friend who is pretty high up in that world, but one of the genuine nice guys in it.
  20. Well, if the nyt and wsj report the same thing then there is a consensus.
  21. Him being a giant a-hole seems to be a reason not to employ him, but a lot of people in that business are giant a-holes. If he is any good he could reform himself, be nice to people on small projects, work his way back. Him having sexual relations s with a 15 year old actress on one of his shows, even a long time ago, coupled with him generally being a giant a-hole, seems to be a reason to blacklist him. On the other hand, Roman Polanski seemed to be allowed back in to Hollywood.
  22. Hobgoblin was spidey's main adversary for about 4 years and then he got moved over to second tier. But yeah, he's not green goblin or venom in terms of pop culture.
  23. I see they started using barcodes again at 192. There weren't any before. Why did they start again?
