What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
PovertyRow replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Just picked this one up. Always liked that guy! (Not sure why this is so streaky looking - may be density of same color dots). -
Marker usually makes bleed thru. Water color is often used by pro restorers for color touch since, when applied properly, there is no bleed thru. Looking at it I think the original assessment of kids drawing and later coloring over it and would glean a resto label. Using a large display it also looks like it could be a wet attempt to clean off the writing which caused it to smudge, which would be considered wet cleaning and also a resto label.

Netflix's ADDAMS FAMILY WEDNESDAY show from Tim Burton (TBD)
PovertyRow replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Just watched Ep 1. Will definitely continue through all 8. Overall it was good fun. They could have made Wednesday genuinely darker but still - Jenna Orftega does an excellent job playing off the vibes from both the series and the movies. Looking forward to the next ep - not sure wehter to bing or just do a couple a day. We shall see.- 73 replies

Unless CGC has changed their philosophy, a date stamp is considered part of the distribution process and should not impact the grade or label. Store stamps post-distribution such as a stamp from a used bookstore stamped on a secondhand comic may be a different story.

Netflix's ADDAMS FAMILY WEDNESDAY show from Tim Burton (TBD)
PovertyRow replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Being an Addams Family fan from first run TV in the 60s, and a fan of the two movies, I think I can welcome this into the fold. I like the vibe of if it. And the cello scene is intriguing (also a cello fan).- 73 replies

My top three are: WWBN She-Hulk: Attorney at Law WWBN There were several entries I could not finish if a movie (two I was really looking forward to were Black Widow and The Eternals. Tried a few times and stopped about a third of the way in on both). Same with the series with Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel being shows I could only get a few eps in. I DID watch all of WandaVision but was very dissatisfied with it.

Berkeley Comic Show Saturday, November 5
PovertyRow replied to HouseofComics.Com's topic in Comic Events
I wanted to go but initially thought I was going to have hand surgery which got postponed. I ended up staying home to see my niece who visited from NYC for the weekend. Will see if the surgery is going to impact January. . -
Disney+'s WEREWOLF BY NIGHT starring Gael Garcia Bernal (2022)
PovertyRow replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Sorry to keep on about WWBN Special Presentation but...there is an interesting parallel with the 1941 THE WOLF MAN. In WWBN Elsa returns to her family estate for her legacy after her father is killed. In THE WOLF MAN, Lawrence Talbot returns to his family estate for his long denied legacy (he was the 2nd elder son) after his brother John, the elder son, is killed in a hunting accident. Also regarding the werewolf makeup, I had previously alluded to its similarity to the Universal 1935 WEREWOLF OF LONDON. In that movie Henry Hull (the werewolf) talked with makeup artist Jack Pierce about the werewolf makeup and suggested his face be kept recognizable, just as we have in Jack's makeup in WWBN. Just a couple of quick Povservations. -
Resubmitting the Same Book?
PovertyRow replied to Coach Lee's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Check the grader notes for notations relating to waves or finger bends etc. That has been a real issue of late and some of my books that deserved better were downgraded due to improper handling, most likely on site. -
Purple to Blue label
PovertyRow replied to Sean Roberts's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Yes, tear seals should net you the conserved label. No more purple for you! -

Not being a composer I honestly cannot say. But I am a musician and melodically (aka pitch and rhythm) speaking there is a real brain tweaking between the two. This is less a dis and more an observation. -

Well here I go again with another mini observation of WWBN. This time that theme. It reminded me of another theme but dang is I could remember, until a flash of clarity struck! Despite this and the cage issue (previous post) WWBN remains one of my all time favorite entries. First Werewolf By Night Then I Robot -

PovertyRow replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Ahh, my fixation with WWBN continues. I am totally fascinated by this little gem. I was saddened to note a continuity issue of major proportion. It also shows up in a couple of other places. Note the cage top. -
Just bought a most excellent Spotlight #2 (CGC 6.0). Smooth easy transaction and keeps up nicely with communication. I most definitely, assuredly and in all ways decidedly look forward to future transaction!

High End BA Grades outside of investing
PovertyRow replied to Royardee's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I've been upping my CGC Bronze Marvel horror collecting. I have no problem getting 9.0 or 9.2 books. They are usually quite attractive and much more affordable than the upper grades. Not to say if I run across a higher grade at a bargain price I'll jump on it. I'm not into it for making money but if a time comes when I want to sell some I should be able to break even or make a small profit. -

Thanks Jay. I just pulled my copy and read it through. Fun read and that werewolf story was the best of them. Especially glad to see it was a Madame Xanadu story, my favorite DC Supernatural character! -
I had a similar issue just with MK. Being a big fan (liked him more than ASM) I could not get beyond ep 3. But as is obvious I just enjoyed the heck out of She-Hulk because it was so reminiscent of the second series Sensational S-H.
