I would agree with many of the comments about. Gemini are one of the cheapest ready to go. Over time I have gotten to where I buy cases of water activated Registered tape and cases of foam-board. Then sandwich the foam-board (like the extra protection and smooth surface) plus it's harder to bend than cardboard. Plus using this method I can build any size box ( have even built boxes to ship Long Boxes ) can be seen in this post here.. And here are some pictures of various packages I have made. Using this method.

I was looking through a lot of my Doomsday collection tonight , and kept thinking that I knew I sold off some of my old books. One was a SS from 09 and 07 , but then it got me reminiscent and thinking what was the first SS. After a quick search I found this old thread. Then while looking through I see this sample book and think.. I have one of those.. then I look back and find out 2012 I uploaded pictures (which for me then meant I sold it) Since my pictures really weren't that clear then I am curious if @valiantman you remember where you got this from? Here are my old pictures. And the original SS that made me stumble across this thread.. Thank you.

I would guess somewhere between a 5.0 - 6.0 mainly due to the color missing on the Marvel Banner( maybe from tape or sticker?) Do not know about the crayon, but @joeypost may have a good idea what may be achieved without restoration. Still that is a good copy!

Do not get me wrong as far as competitors... there really are none. At the same time I and many other will just wait, and hope they get some of the issues fixed. In the mean time just enjoy the raw originals!

I would have to agree with this as it makes sense that they are having problems scaling up. Which I am sure most of us want them to succeed and deliver on the quality, superior optics, durability and customer service. It's just their lack of communication in this transition , if that is what it is. I understand they want to grow like any business. New labels, grading options , revamping the site, etc, but like they did with previous mistakes with the cases or Con season TAT where they issued a statement. Outline a plan of action to restore confidence in their brand and product . This time they keep using the last excuses of its con season ( which by now could have been addressed) or that the flaws Newton Rings are acceptable . No real plan of action to address the current issues and a tentative date/goal to achieve. Which causes customers to lose faith.

Man that still is a beauty.. awesome that it is complete . As someone else mentioned maybe professionally cleaned to 1.5 , but a lot of risk for what looks like a wonderful 1.0!

Hahaha. Just sticker shock. It's been a while since I have looked at the ASM Mcfarlane Newsstands.. Guess I should not be though when so many books have hit almost $1000... Really just makes me happy that I bought a lot of my books then at Walden, B&N and a few local shops Most sold Newsstands here.

They are constructing a tracking board for when submission tracking will be back up. Currently it is sitting at " Recieved "

I agree they take up more room, the other issue is the normal case is too tight, which is why they switch to the larger, however they dont have in between sizes and regular books in these large cases is just too much and allows the books to shift. Several members who have received this work around have received blunted edges, SCS, Cover Creep or Shift, ETC... and the last thing any of us want is damage.

How good is the centerfold ? Have you done a page count to make sure it is all there. Can see the small piece missing bottom right corner on interior page. How many pages does that go through? Does it affect the story? (although appears low enough not to) these are more issues that may detract from overall grade but I too would say about 1.0 . If it's all there and that's the only corner maybe 1.5 but missing anything else would be 0.5 and probably noted as incomplete.

Dont get me wrong. That superman is awesome! Who wouldn't want a 9.0 SS labeled Summer 1939? Still that's a pretty big difference on so many levels that it makes you wonder how did they miss that?

Here is one a guy on Ebay has been trying to sell a Man of Steel #18 5th print as that's what CGC Labeled it, when really it is a 1st print. Or the Superman #1 CGC 9.0 SS that the label says Summer 1939 ( the seller was honest and listed as reprint)

Plus I keep seeing so many issues. Just a couple days ago @Brandon Shepherd mentioned and showed pictures of one of his Action Comics that was shipped back in a cracked case with cover wedged between case and well.. and like some of his other comments, I too had 5 of my last 17 come back with scuffing on the case..

Back to the matter at hand! This has become an issue with a TON of us. I planned on at least 3 submissions this year, but after receiving my first back (17) and 12 having serious Newton Rings and one also having a long hair inside the slab and sheet against the book ( in my other topic"whats in the slab"). I too have not sent anything else to them.

I would consider contacting PayPal first and asking about the transactions and if they give the run around call back the bank, consider calling it fraud and file charge back on the CC. The bank draft could be harder , but if it too has not processed as it should again sounds like a fraudulent transaction. Banks will try to deny errors, but fraud they have to address.

I know it's not on site, but there should be several facilitators there.. off the top of my head Rich Henn..
