  1. I agree they take up more room, the other issue is the normal case is too tight, which is why they switch to the larger, however they dont have in between sizes and regular books in these large cases is just too much and allows the books to shift. Several members who have received this work around have received blunted edges, SCS, Cover Creep or Shift, ETC... and the last thing any of us want is damage.
  2. How good is the centerfold ? Have you done a page count to make sure it is all there. Can see the small piece missing bottom right corner on interior page. How many pages does that go through? Does it affect the story? (although appears low enough not to) these are more issues that may detract from overall grade but I too would say about 1.0 . If it's all there and that's the only corner maybe 1.5 but missing anything else would be 0.5 and probably noted as incomplete.
  3. Dont get me wrong. That superman is awesome! Who wouldn't want a 9.0 SS labeled Summer 1939? Still that's a pretty big difference on so many levels that it makes you wonder how did they miss that?
  4. Here is one a guy on Ebay has been trying to sell a Man of Steel #18 5th print as that's what CGC Labeled it, when really it is a 1st print. Or the Superman #1 CGC 9.0 SS that the label says Summer 1939 ( the seller was honest and listed as reprint)
  5. Plus I keep seeing so many issues. Just a couple days ago @Brandon Shepherd mentioned and showed pictures of one of his Action Comics that was shipped back in a cracked case with cover wedged between case and well.. and like some of his other comments, I too had 5 of my last 17 come back with scuffing on the case..
  6. Back to the matter at hand! This has become an issue with a TON of us. I planned on at least 3 submissions this year, but after receiving my first back (17) and 12 having serious Newton Rings and one also having a long hair inside the slab and sheet against the book ( in my other topic"whats in the slab"). I too have not sent anything else to them.
  7. I would consider contacting PayPal first and asking about the transactions and if they give the run around call back the bank, consider calling it fraud and file charge back on the CC. The bank draft could be harder , but if it too has not processed as it should again sounds like a fraudulent transaction. Banks will try to deny errors, but fraud they have to address.
  8. I know it's not on site, but there should be several facilitators there.. off the top of my head Rich Henn..
  9. Hopjacks Belgium Fresh Cut Potatoes fried in Duck Fat and served with a side of the Special "Crack Sauce " These are the Ultimate Fries.
  10. Many have already said it Mold.. that's definitely one of the top, but can not believe no one else has mentioned the worst for me... Silverfish.. .
  11. For me it can really depend. I have sought out several Newsstand and sure I paid too much on some (Although no Chuck). Others I have acquired for really cheap, as like the annuals, no one else had any interest. On the more expensive end was Batman #457 2nd print & Superman #50 2nd print (although did score an upgrade for a good deal from another board member [Thank You Kirk!]), but on the lower end I have come across several of the Waldenbooks and B&N Stickered Newsstand for cents... I have always just collected what I like.. Can't go wrong.. May go broke , but not wrong..
  12. It is always true that any comic is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, except
  13. I am also in the mindset of slow wins, but I can see why some have hesitation as the longer our comics sit in shipping boxes, them handling, grading, encapsulating, packing , shipping the more chances of damage occurring. Plus it is one thing to be slow, it is another when TAT are getting closer to the half a year mark. It is hard when your a collector who loves them, and held on to them for years, decades, etc and just want to persevere/protect the comic, but once you have paid for that grading, waited and it shows up with Newton Rings, wrong label, cracked case or worse damage. I do understand why some want to get through the process as fast and painless as possible. Even if it is more money. Still it is yet another issue that could arise. Instead of trying to " ramp up production " and sacrifice quality (as they have been doing) they could always try the other route of charge more and offer premium service.
  14. I do agree with this, and dont really expect perfection. That is unrealistic. I could understand some issues. It is the increase in frequency and how common place so many of the issues have become as well as their response. I also have to agree that it is concerning that they do have that many issues, however I do have to give CGC credit for being able to voice and discuss these issues on their site. Some of the others have been known to ban customers and scrub their "boards" in an attempt to hide some their issues.
  15. While I can understand and agree with what you are saying about these specific issues. I mean who doesn't like the anticipation of that Christmas like box of goodies you can't wait to open . The real issue comes from this compounded by that the longer they have and hold them the more likely they are to be damaged and or come back with Newton Rings, trash in slab, multiple size cases for identical books, etc that after this wait, you only have to look forward to paying more, and sending it back to wait and hope that yet again that it survives this process all over again without any other issues. Which is another of the issues is how many of us have already gone through this process multiple times only to get back the same or worse issues to the point its obvious that they will not address it.
  16. I have also found a lot of these foreign issues to have appeal from old to new. I know I have a ton of them, but here are some to share.
  17. I would have to agree. Which is the only reason I have brought all this up. The list of issues keeps growing, and I really would like them to either fix them or the other to step in enough that the resale value of theirs becomes competitive. Which is why I say it's sad , and at the same time used the southern colloquialism " Losing My Religion " as in at the end of my rope. Just disheartening and disgusting, as it has made me view many of my treasured collection as pure resale value.
  18. So far the more i see, myself and many others have lost faith in CGC. One of the reasons I have not sent in another submission this year with turn around times hitting up to 5/6 months on some tiers, status updates that have no consistency, fast tracks that have taken longer than regular submissions, No movement on the Registry Requests since June 9th, glitches signing on saying host was down , HORRIBLE NEWTON RINGS , random trash in slab, multiple size slabs on same books, mislabeled books, and now damaging reholder books? This has just become sad. it appears they have just given up on taking pride in the product they sell and us as customers. "The only reputable company " is quickly fostering a reputation that will have more of us giving up on them. It has just become unacceptable and enough is enough.
