I too bid early , but like you dropped out as I have about 10 of these and pretty sure at least 1 or 2 may hit that 9.8, but just a minute or two after the sale I get a text from one of my local friends..

I was shocked as well. I know the person who ended up with the 4th. Which all he plans on doing is trying to relist and flip for a higher price.

That too was one of my concerns. Which is why I wanted to share this. I know most of us and those who have any idea what they are looking at would know immediately, but the fact he is using CGC labels that several you can tell he has altered is just wrong. He has already sold 6 of the custom graded. He also has some negative and neutral feedback for poor quality on the reprint covers and fake cards.

Agreed. More and more books we never really thought would command such prices, are again trying to price us out of obtaining them. Still hope , like you said that after the initial 9.8's hit their lone census prices the rest come back to earth a little to allow us to complete our sets.

That was my wonder which is why I have it shown as sort by sold highest to lowest. The range it fell in suggested it sold for full price. I too has been sent a similar , if not same offer, but seemed too steep. I also agree about the pictures as I thought maybe 9.2-9.4 only way I saw that a 9.6 was maybe a clean and press, as I agree at what looks like those spots as well as a dimple on rear cover just to the right of the " Y ". I had the same thoughts about the # 77... Jealous..

A magic number: Dollars = Collectors
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to valiantman's topic in Comics General
That was a ballpark. With the US Census saying there are roughly 327.16 million (Feb 2018) people that's just the US. That would be estimating only 1 in every 327 people collect comics. -

This is a good question though. A 1+ Billion Dollar industry with around a Million Collectors . Lowest price paid is FREE , highest around $3,200,000. I too would have to say that the number of collectors equaling dollars would fall somewhere between $5,000-$10,000 -

But there are only 1111 Hulk 181 in CGC 7.5 graded does that mean that this will make its price go up? -

The Superman #75 3rd print Newsstand was another one that was also distributed through packs sent to book store in a pack some are visible other are covered by the insert , however after opening several these can be hit or miss as some only contain the direct version. Here is one of the packs I have handy that its easier to see the Newsstand it came from Walden Books.

The Superman #82 2nd prints are out there , but like the DC Universe they were sealed hidden inside of a pack. The other issue with finding them is those who know tend to keep it to themselves as this pack contains two gems. It has the Superman #82 2nd print and a pack of Bloodlines Promo Cards that are the Grail version No Logo and No Number. Due to this as soon as these packs come up the few of us who know buy them as usually they are decently cheap. I have found four of them so far in the wild. Now that I have the ones I was after I am more than happy to share this.

eBay The eBay Official eBay Thread eBay
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to IntoAnother's topic in Comics General
I have seen this many times and agree they should not allow a lot of this activity. Sure a couple as we all make mistakes , but just the other day I saw one that had 26 in the last 30 days and they were all on comics , while their normal bidding activities were on coins which to me looks like shill bidding. There should be consequences for this , but Ebay gets to pocket the money from these inflated prices. -

Ok you have me curious. What was the one ,of which you sent in 3 copies, that was never seen before? -
Agreed. Both of his films are truly difficult to watch . They should be on this list.

What is the highest graded CGC Green Label ever given?
onlyweaknesskryptonite replied to Junkdrawer's topic in Comics General
There is a CGC 9.9 for Superman: The Wedding Album RRP on the census. All of these were Qualified due to numbers and signature on the back of them.
