  1. This one just popped up on eBay. Really nice raw copy, but it's not cheap though. http://cgi.ebay.com/220801743936
  2. Just got this raw. Seller graded it at 7.0-7.5, but it actually surpassed my expectations. I might have graded a little higher. Very tight spine, white pages. Great pickup for just $52 shipped.
  3. Haganland has one. There's a pic posted of it in this thread where there's debate whether it should be a 9.2 or not. Debate aside, it's a really nice copy with white pages and I liked it enough to ask them if it was still available. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4914181 They didn't actually quote me price, but mentioned that the GPA averages trend towards $700 and that they would be open to fair offers. You can reach them at: haganland@hotmail.com
  4. I'm not sure if this is Bronze or Silver, but I just won this for $23 over at Comicconnect. It's suppose to be 8.5, but I haven't rec'd it yet to confirm. I had a copy a long time ago when I was collecting so I'm very happy to get this again.
  5. Yeah, that's a really nice copy. Was this one of the better copies that recently sold on eBay?
  6. I think I saw that one from the UK awhile back. Just didn't have the funds to grab it. Anyway, I don't actually have the below yet, but they should come in by the end of the week. They're from the June CL auctions.
  7. Where the heck do you find specimens like this? Certainly not on eBay.
  8. A pair of cheap, raw pickups for my on going Adams Bats collection. Very nice copies actually.
  9. I dunno. Maybe I'm a newbie at this and I'm just not as familiar with the details of the grading standards, but I picture a 9.8 to be a near flawless book. The lower, right hand corner on the cover - Does that look like a small crease?
  10. Good Lord. I just checked and this book sold for $305! I can see a very upset customer coming up once the book is in hand for inspection. How do you think eBay will handle this one? The seller DID mention the tape, albeit the grade listing of 9.2-9.4 is very misleading.
  11. Current bid is down to $99. Looks like Several people finally read the fine print and retracted their bids.

  13. Very nice copy. I like the nice, even wrap even with the white line.
  14. Hey, check out this one auction. Bats 227 WITHOUT the cover http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330577564634
  15. I would imagine it's the same problem you have with '71 Topps baseball cards and '85 Topps football cards. The black borders are so condition sensitive, they practically chip if you stare at them hard enough. The number of quality copies worth submitting are probably just plain fewer and far between. That said, I'm still astounded a cover is enough to drive the popularity of this book so high. I've been monitoring raw copies of this on eBay and it appears to sell really well even in lower grades. Admittedly, I really like this book and the fact that the story and interior artwork is rather blah, it's one of the few books that lends itself to slabbing real well as you never miss what's on the inside.
  16. Wow. That's nice, but I take it that was a bit too racy for US consumption?
  17. As popular as this cover has become over the years, as referenced in books and other media, I'm surprised no one has taken yet another cover swipe of the design in one of the newer Batman titles. I think it would cool to get someone else's take on it after all these years.
  18. Two new Bats from my childhood. Classic Kaluta and Wrightson covers. Picked up both for $65. I can't get over how great looking the old label 8.5 is. There's a small crease that does not break the color on the top right. I'm sure this is what's keeping the condition from being graded higher. I can understand why now some people are scarfing up the old labels and pressing them to higher grades now. It would be so easy with this book.
  19. Cool. I guess I won't feel as bad paying so much for that Batman 227. !
  20. I guess I'm still ignorant, but how can CGC not consider pressing a form of restoration? Once again, I'm more familiar with the sports card collecting and practices such as this would automatically lower the specimen one grade value (if not more).
