  1. Dunno about 9 1/2 Weeks, but in The Fly, the Jeff Goldblum character kept several sets of the same set of suit in his closet. Thus freeing the "genius" to focus on his work without worrying about what to wear. Hey, that's maybe that's Adams after all
  2. I just got this off eBay. Bought it primarily because of the Adams article and the fact that it was cheap... . . . . . . . . . . . . Lo and behold what I find on page 42
  3. I love my 9.4, but I'm tempted to see what would happen if I listed it on eBay myself. . . . . . . . 'Course, I'd probably regret it the day after.
  4. I"m ok with Bat's back if that splash was the cover. Never liked *ANY* cover where a good portion of it is taken up by a disembodied floating head. I hate covers like that. They look goofy as all heck.
  5. I checked over at CL and the last 8.5 sold for $351 a few months back. I suppose this sale is in line with that going price. Still a lot of dough for a book that's only in 8.5 compared to other BA Bats books.
  6. Beautiful book. Another comic from my childhood. I particularly liked the "Owl" Mary Marvel story where the villian had this cool "black light" flashlight that he used to whack people on the head.
  7. Conan is really dead these days. Interest just doesn't seem to be there. Not that I'm complaining too much as it means that it's a buyer's market right now. I just picked up this raw copy for $30.77+$6 shipping, and was surprised that I won it.
  8. Well, it looks like the book is off to a good start. i'm actaully surprised how well Adams Bats in general are still doing, not just 227. I was bidding on some other non-key Adams covers and was surprised at how high they wounded up.
  9. Yeah, the forum software has got some pointer issues or something. To see the new posts, you have to click on the thread title. You can't navigate to the last page using the link to the page numbers.
  10. Just got this in the mail. No where near as nice as the 9.8 posted earlier, but for $51 shipped, I'll take it. (thumbs u Pardon the lousy cell phone pic.
  11. I'm quite astounded at how high the prices are for even mid-grades when it comes to this book. Here's an auction I was bidding on and figured I had a chance at getting for $50 since it wasn't anywhere close to being near mint (was looking for reader copy). It wounded up going for $150+. http://www.ebay.com/itm/260967086512 At least with Batman 227, there was an original story to go along with the cool cover. This book is just reprints.
  12. Yeah, it's in this thread somewhere. The brown looked nice, but I don't mind the green. I've always liked the cover to 232. In fact, it was the first Batman book I purposely sought and bought this year when I got back into the hobby. Followed by Bats 242-244 to complete the Ras Al Ghul saga.
  13. Yeah, superpimp mentioned that one a couple of pages back. Seems to be the same person who just bought the 9.0. It'll interesting to see where this ends up.
  14. Agreed that it is pretty, but this sucker is not for sale until I upgrade it. Well, it's certainly prettier than my 9.2 (that printer's spot drives me crazy) and I paid about 20x more. Looks like I got back into the hobby about a year or two late.
  15. Good luck finding a decent Tec 395. This is a real tough one to find in decent shape. Even more so than the 227 because it doesn't get as much press. In the last 9-10 months or so, I've only seen about three 9.2s and one 9.6. Of the 9.2s, two out of three had either crappy PQ or horribly mis-wrapped. The one 9.6 was a Twin Cities copy that sold over at Heritage for $3700+. I had a winning bid of $3585 on the TC copy until my internet connection came to crawl and someone else took it. Wounded up having to overpay for the one 9.2 with W pages at CL.
  16. I actually thought about bidding on that Don Rosa myself, but I already have a nice raw copy. Also, you gotta admit, it's not one of Adams' best covers. Very dull for some reason.
  17. looks like the buyer of the $730 CGC 9.0 is now selling his under copy: eBay stinky link You sure it's the same person? Seems like a lot of work for just an incremental upgrade. At least it's alot of work for me. I'd shoot for at least a 9.2-9.4.
  18. Ya know, one of the things that I never understood is why Adams always drew Batman's cape like there's a blast of air coming from right beneath him. Maybe it works whens Bats is standing on the edge of a roof, but in a room with a plain floor?
