  1. Truth in advertising dept.: Still a crazy, amazing lineup of prime vintage books there on the 20th, but Superworld can't make it due to a conflict with a Rick Steves tour of Italy! So yeah, Rick Steves is now an official enemy of the Berkeley Comic Con.
  2. More news: Happy to accounce ThatPovGuy will be attending and Michael will be happy to discuss any and all restoration topics with board members. If you've always had a question about something or have a comic you want him to look at, now's your chance!
  3. News: due to demand we are making the January 20 show 11-5 instead of 12-5! The fliers say 12-5 so it's kind of a secret right now for the boards and people we contact by Facebook and email.
  4. Also wanted to mention we have Ray (usually he's set up behind me, not quite sure this time) with thousands of golden age books and Tim at the door with various goodies and undercopies, plus really cheap slabs.
  5. Sixth day of Christmas: Happy to have Bronze Age Batcave setting up for the first time since June. Damon always has great stuff. You may know him from ebay or the last two SF Cons and Silicon Valley Cons. I'll be setting up too, of course. Loads of $30 to $300 vintage books and more $400 to $900 books than usual. Will try to get my golden age better sorted and out of the home office and actually to the show.
  6. Fifth day of Christmas announcing two stellar board members: Fantastic Comics/Chris Williamson, CW on the boards (he started the show us your Detective Comics thread way back) has a big setup in the back corner. He always sells lots of keys at this con but also has the most bulk 80s to present. Great guy. Harvey Doss will be right next to me. He really turns up books. He may have anything from a Superman 9 to a Crime Suspense 22 to plenty of Marvel keys. At previous shows he's had an Amazing Fantasy 15, ASM 1, multiple IH 181s. Very popular guy who has set up at almost every convention within 100 miles over the past two years.
  7. Thanks for the answer Ray! I know Phil told me if you have a CGC dealer # he can press books and then submit for you but he made it sound like he doesn't submit otherwise. Also, Eitan of Cape and Cowl told me he's started submitting for customers at his shop. He might be the way I'd go as he may have more time to deal with it than the bigger dealers.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone! (especially those in Shacktown) WIsh I had a scan handy of one of those great Bill Woggon Katy Keene Christmas cards he sent out in the mid 50s.
  9. Fourth Day of Christmas, we would like to announce: Worlds of Wonder, board member EdgerX. Always has some nice slabs, stock runs the gamut, always has good bargains too. Cape and Cowl Comics, great store in downtown Oakland. Has recently bought a cool collection that includes two short boxes of ECs.
  10. Actually, when the stars align and we get Terry's Comics setting up, that's when we'll have arrived. Love his GA inventory and passion for those books. With "venue unavailable" dates and tons of NorCal shows to dodge, it's always tough to find the right dates for four quarterly shows a year.
  11. Haha, I think anyone who knows anything about cons knows that Terry's show is the best one day thing anywhere, ever! As I said in last Berkeley show's thread, if you had to choose between attending his or attending our quarterly show, attend his! Terry, you do a great job.
  12. Third Day of Christmas announcements: Happy to have Alan Bahr/Heroes Comics of Campbell setting up. Hopefully he'll bring some original art and he has a great stock of books. Also really pleased to have Brian Peets/A-1 Comics of Sacramento. Loads of golden age among his gigantic stock. I've seen him have a whole long box of Fawcetts at a show. He also generally gets multiple copies of the big Marvel keys every year.
  13. Awesome, I don't have to PM woowoo about this show now! As for our Canadian friends, direct flights available. You know you want to! You can tour the HOC warehouse space before or after. You can also go see the toilet seat original art at Isotope Comics.
  14. Second day of Christmas, your true comic loves (me and Wormboy) gave to you: National dealer Ted Van Liew and Superworld Comics. Board member and Overstreet advisor, in that order, ha ha. He'll be bringing the gamut, including some original art, I hope. I believe he hasn't done a Northern California show since since 2011. We are really happy to also announce that Phil Schlaefer/Champion Comics will be set up. Hopefully he will be an ongoing presence at our show. Great books, just bought a great in-depth early ASM collection, I've seen a Cap #1 on his wall before, etc.
  15. Six days of Christmas! Rolling out the dealer lineup in the holiday fashion. First day of Christmas: Happy to say that we have Bunky Brothers vending at this show! Their convention stock is always stunning and they always have killer new books. They only do about six shows a year, so this is a special opportunity to check out their offerings. We're also very happy to announce that Harley Yee is setting up at this show. I believe this is the first one-day show he's set up at in Northern California in about five years. Everybody knows Harley and the kinds of books he has. Just his C inventory at the last SFCC was so great.
  16. Our quarterly comics-only con returns on January 20th. I expect 20+ board members in attendance, maybe 30. Should be a ton of fun. Wormboy and I put this one on. $5 admission. Parking generally not too tough within a few blocks (fall football Saturdays excepted) and just blocks from BART. The comics are mostly vintage and this is an old-school show in every way. This show will have the best golden age lineup we've ever offered. www.berkeleycomiccon.com
  17. 10. Seller lists the book today, with both covers, at 3x what I paid. OMG! You should report this listing to ebay.
  18. You can't miss January 20th. Amazing dealer lineup. To be announced soon. (put it on your calendar everybody!)
  19. >>Had a fun time, as usual! Here's my haul. Pretty sure I snagged every L.B. Cole in the room, all 4 of them. Au contraire, you didn't even come close to spotting my Classics Illustrated Junior 568, The Happy Hedgehog.
  20. I did not know about that Indian Warriors--never saw that before. So cool.. Believe I bought copies of Horrors of War and Startling Terror at last year's November show. I didn't have a chance to really get around at all but I know some keys that sold included Brave and the Bold 29, Detective 359, ASM 101, 129 and 300, Lois Lane 70, and of course the big trade for the ASM 1.
  21. Wow, long sign up period! Put January 20th on your calendar, you are going to really like that one.
  22. Board member Batarag is a late vendor addition to the show!
  23. Don, thanks for your constant enthusiasm. I have some new DC horror plus first Enemy Ace and first Unknown Soldier for you to check out.
