  1. As collectors we get a sentimental attachment that usually blinds us to the true resell value. If the seller truly wants to sell it as a collection then he needs to realize that you need to make money off the flip. That money needs to not only cover the purchase but for your time, selling fees etc. I look forward to seeing what you bought so far. So is he now trying to sell some of it piece by piece or still interested in selling the lot? If he starts selling pieces off at the end he will be stuck with all the junk or stuff he overpriced. Congrats on the cool find and thanks for taking the time to post pictures and respond to all questions and comments. Looks like a guys had a lot of fun going through it.
  2. I wonder when the recent comic price boom will die! Over the past few years comic prices have soared due to movies and tv shows. Comics that once sat in boxes or on walls for years at cheap prices starting selling for 5-10 times what they once sat years at. Seems like all of a sudden everyone bought up every key and first appearance with hopes that it becomes a hot investment book. This has to change, I mean there really can't be that many new collectors that started collecting that drove all these prices up so high. It actually chased me from collecting. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much more for books that were always easily available and so much cheaper. The book didn't improve and they certainly aren't scarce, hard to believe that supply and demand changed the price so much. I assume it was more people buying up copies with hopes of investment.
  3. The show is chugging along without Glenn so I am sure it can make it without Carl. I find they are dragging it on and way to many little sub stories. There are episodes where we go the full show without seeing Rick and the gang. I want this Negan story to end and would love to see them on the road again. Don't think that will happen but one can wish lol. I gave up reading the comic at issue 50 so I am in the dark as to comparing the two. However in the past from other shows I like it when they don't stay exactly like the book, I don't want to know what's going to happen.
  4. Not sure if it’s already been asked but what is the significance of the letter “A” in the show? I have noticed it a lot from written on different items, buildings, train cars, Darl’s shirt while captured and last on the container Rick was held in. It obviously has some meaning.
  5. I was surprised by the ending last night.....shocker! I watched the Talking Dead after and the producer was on the show and he said it will play out like the rest of the bites. The next few episodes should be interesting. I was hoping that the whole Negan storyline came to an end last night, guess it will continue to dragggggg on.
  6. I have the Josie, it’s a great issue. IMO a lot the older Archie titles are under rated.
  7. I have to admit that I never truly understood why people would pay so much more money for variants. If it was a totally different cover or something than yes I get it but price or direct vs newsstand puzzles me. I am a collector of cards and comics so yes I understand how collectors think but it’s amazing to see how much extra money people spend. I collect comics to read so I guess the graded and variant part of the hobby never interested me.
  8. Buy the new Punisher Omnibus. It comes in the standard oversized slip case has a beautiful hardcover, a lot of extra artwork and posters and reprints pretty much all his early appearances in Amazing Spiderman, MP2, Mini Series as well as DD and Captain America issues. Great buy for anyone who loves the punisher and buys on a budget.
  9. Loving those Gold Key Scooby Doo books. My son collects them, they are a fun read.
  10. I just ordered the new Omnibus on line, can't wait to get it. Anyone else get it?
  11. Loved the Netflix show, biggest problem is it will be years before there is more lol. I need to scan some issues and post. Loving all the contributions to the thread.
  12. Enemy Ace 138 is such an awesome cover, one of my favorites.
  13. I just started collecting again after a 2-3 year break. I’m blown away at how much prices have jumped. Books that you could get dirt cheap like under $10 is now selling for $100 or more. There was always lots around and now really tough to find. I am not sure if the movies really brought that many new readers or if it’s older readers buying them up with thoughts of investment. It’s was one of the reasons I stopped collecting and after seeing how high non keys and minor character first appearance are selling for I will likely continue not buying. I love comics but prices are ridiculous. Maybe it’s just that I have collected cards and comics so long and seen how low and how common most of these are that I just can’t pay asking prices. I will patiently wait for them to drop just both did after the early 90’s boom.
  14. Great stuff. I haven’t bought a comic in a long time, probably 2 years. Getting the itch to jump back in. Are keys and 1st appearance still going for crazy prices or has the market cooled?
  15. I love reading these type of articles, gives great insight into what and why the creative team do certain things. Thanks for posting it.
  16. Im a big Spider-Man fan but I never read 121-122. Never had the money to buy them.
  17. a few buddies and myself were having a chat about the hobby and we got talking about the old Beckett hockey magazine section "what would you buy with $100"? So we changed it and asked what comic would you buy for $5, $20, $50 or $100. For fun list out what you would buy for each of these amounts.
  18. I have a lot of the little Archie Mystery comics in my Archie collection, they are some of my favourites. I will try and scan some and post them.
  19. I enjoyed it. First time ever that after I new show I went to bed and dreamed about it .
  20. Awesome thread, so many great covers, The Conan's, Magnus, Phantoms and Rampaging Hulk bring back some cool childhood memories.
  21. This week I am travelling for work meetings. Today I went to visit s comic shop and picked up a few older comics, nothing big just some good reads. I also decided to run to a card shop that I use to visit. While looking for some old hockey becketts I discovered a full long box of Wizards. Almosts full run of the first 30 issues plus about 50 still sealed in the original bag!!! I thought this was his PC but he said they are extras and they are available. As I mentioned in an earlier post I wanted a #1, well now I have it. I grabbed the 1-4 plus almost the rest of the first 20 issues he had. I also grabbed around 40 more cool issues. I am so excited , my wife was laughing at how excited I was. When I get home next week I will scan some pictures and post them. I also got some other early comic book collector and over street magazines.
  22. Very nice, and two fantastic stories great choice.
  23. IMO Glenn is too obvious. When Negan was going around picking in the playground format he was on the side between Carl and Rick. In that area was Sasha, Maggie, Carl And Eugene. When he stopped and made the Eye comment he was between Carl and Rick, I really think it's Maggie. They want shock factor that does it, Sasha is a non important character.
