I just came across this thread, what are folks opinions on picking up some of wizards stocks as an investment?

Yeah, I'd say that 3.0 on Ebay is definitely a scam.
Previous sale:
Current sale:
That's not good... would there not be some serious consequences for fraud via eBay of that magnitude? Especially if it's across state lines, or internationally
-
It's quite unfortunate for the bidders

+1, back to af15 we go
On that note, what are everyone's opinions on the 5.0 that finished at 38k on heritage yesterday?

Is NA #10 his first? I thought it was another book.

im just going by this, on a side note it's part of the lead up to the 'infinity ' miniseries, that I enjoyed reading , involved thanos and the black order

What is so special about NA 10?
Thane (thanos' son) it's attributed as his first appearance

When will gpa be updated to reflect these sales?
In regards to the asm run, most of them are in Voldemort holders, so gpa won't reflect those

The other variable is they were in voldemort slabs
That was one of the possibilities that had crossed my mind

I think they are cool, I regard them as art, or decoration, and not so much as an investment.. I purchased these off eBay a month or so ago for display in my office, I enjoy looking at them , and relative to what I paid for them, there's not much else I would have rather spent the money on for their intended purpose

Well that would put the price in tier with the auctions you mentioned, but I don't know what you had into it, so... .
i did expect the 3.0 to do a 'little' better .
If it's any consolation we are still in the wake of the Berk juggernaut. Could just be a case of some buyers war chests not restocked to full buying potential yet.
I for one am still feeling the effects of my spending on items over the sdcc

The Superman #1 coverless seemed like it went cheap (I could be wrong but seems cheap compared to a coverless AC1 or TEC27).
A lot of things seemed to have sold cheap, the prices the asm run sold for are extremely low, I purposely didn't watch the auction live so I wouldn't be tempted to bid, and now I'm regretting it big time!

As we have seen with other key books, the number of copies does not matter as long as the demand is there re: price gains. Hulk 181 is the AF 15 of the BA. As such, the prices will continue to rise, but the rates will vary year to year. FWIW, the big jump in Hulk 181s has been more at the low grade (entry level) and high grade, but the mid grade copy prices are relatively clustered and have not seen large gains. This is similar to pretty much any other established SA or BA key over the past year or two.
My - SC 22 (3.0) will not run up as quickly as a Hulk 181 since the demand is not as great and it is relatively plentiful in that grade for a SA DC key. Look at B&B 28 as an example (but still harder to find than Marvel SA keys - it is relative) - the book is easier to find in 4.0 and lower grades and as a result the price rise has stagnated. I expect SC 22 to play out in a similar manner - the sweet spot for price gains with DC SA keys is 6.0 and up.
That's a good point and I totally agree with 6.0 + being the zone that would see price gains in do silverage keys

There has also been speculation that the green lanterns will be making an un announced appearance in the justice league movie, if that happens, there will definitely be growth in the showcase 22

Looks like the entire "starburst" of creasing on the spine between the "12 cents" and the first word bubble has been colored brown with marker. I'm thinking Spiderturtle is right.
EDIT: On further inspection, it appears to me that almost all of the creasing in the brown section has the brown marker touch-up.
I believe you are correct, I didn't see it on my initial look , but after you pointed it out, it's quite clear

Along with the color breaks. What concerns me more than the staple (it is already detached) is the heavy tanning that could become a mess if the book is hydrated improperly. Too many things that could go wrong if this book gets pressed.
I appreciate the feedback, and to be honest , I'm glad that my temptation to try to get a grade bump via pressing has now been quelled , it would ve been stressful waiting for the results

Based on the notes, this one would be a "NO" good buddy.
That's what I thought as well after I retrieved the notes on Bobs advice, are we in agreement that the detached upper staple is the main problem with pressing?

The Batwing's just balancing on top of the middle Absolute Sandman and it sits quite well evenly, did a couple of rumble test and so far so good. Well thanks for all your kind comments, I feel most welcome here! Here's a couple more angles of the room, oh the last pic on the end is my roommate who has 1/4 of the remaining section of the living room, she's holding up my recent purchases of 1st Deadman and Doom Patrol
Nice wizard 1 in the first pic, growing up I was seldom without the latest issue on me at all times

It would help if you could show the grader's notes. This will not be a cheap endeavor, so you need to be sure.
That's a good point , I haven't purchased them yet, I will look into that tonite, and post them once I have them

Great room! How do you have the Batwing displayed? Is it suspended from the ceiling, or on some sort of stand? I'm probably going to pick one up soon, but am unsure of where I'm going to put it.
Good question I have one also and am unsure about how to display it

Are counterfeit comics a real thing?
in Modern Age Comic Books
Posted
Are you wondering about folks making counterfeit cgc encased books, or fake raw comics?..... to answer both, I have seen 'reproduction ' copies mainly of big key books that were basically reproduction covers over blank pages. And here is a link regarding someone attempting to sell off a fake 4.0 af 15
